Old Threads Brought Up
Recently, I've noticed that MANY old threads are brough back up by new members. I must say it is annoying, like in this topic where a new member brought up the (outdated) stratagies for Necro in H5 just to say thnk you for the information. The last post before that was almost 1 year ago.
This topic in the WoG forum was brought up after almost 2 years of silence by a guy who instead googled what he was looking for, he asked others to do it. Even more annoying, mostly these members just show to post 1 or 2 posts, maybe 10, and then go. This adds info to the HC Database and slows it down (HC was faster for me when I joined).
I don't know if anyone cares about this that is not me, but I just had to let you know

It shouldn't... Ressurecting old threads is an advice given by all MODs. Even if it's ressurected just for saying "Thank you for such a great guide, it really gave me a new insight!" The creator of the thread may still be around on these forums and it really helps on some people to get some nice feedback
The only case when it should be annoying is.. when one particular guy is bringing on old threads like 5-10 in one day just to spam. It happened before i believe, but he got -QP and stopped ( or got many -QPs and then stopped  ).
Hope this clarifies your problem with ressurecting threads.

I can see how this may happen, because AoH always has a list of random threads on it, some of which can be very old of course. If something catches someone's eye, they can then easily post someting in that thread, possibly without even being aware that it was last written in two years ago!
This old thread popped up for example, as did this interesting thread.

I feel I must add my oppinion to the discussion here. I think this is a very relevant discussion, because I have myself often been quite annoyed by pointless old threads being resurrected by a new member for no good reason. On the other hand, since I became a Moderator in the Temple, I have myself encoureged newcomers to look through the old threads before they start new ones. That might seem a bit contradictory, but the key in this statement of course lies in the parts pointless and for no good reason.
There are some topics there are valid at all times and can be resurrected without troubles. Refering to my world in the temple, that would for instance be the campaign walkthrough threads, that are places for discussing and giving tips on how to finish certain maps or campaigns. It is obvious that when someone has a problem in a certain map, rather than making a new thread about it, they should post the question in the old thread, even if they resurrect it from slumbering for months.
On the other hand there are threads that, although funny and relevant when they are started, haven't got lasting value. The most infamous of these (again, in the Heroes 5 fora) would be the thread group called "The Way Of The [creature name]" where the looks of this certain creature in the various versions of the Heroes games are discussed. Now this kind of threads can be fun, but after the first 50 posts, the various options sort of have been covered. When a newcomer comes by and resurrects the thread for the 10th time to state that "He/she likes the Heroes 3 Titan (or whatever) best", it starts to become a bit trivial! Of course, in that specific case, it did not help that there were some 50 odd number of this type of threads that all got resurrected regularly at once by the same user. 
It is not always trivial to decide how to handle the problem, and obviously it's not an issue in some fora on the comunity. However, in a place like the Altar Of Wishes, where threads date back before Heroes 4 was released, and half the threads now are completely off topic, it can be quite devastating for the ongoing activity in the forum when a newcomer comes by and decides to raise his post count by spamming all the old threads. I don't see a simple solution, I once suggested moving the obsolete post to a closed vault where you cannot post in them [that would effectively be the same as locking them], but Val did not favor this solution, and maybe it's not a good idea. So if someone can come up with a better solution, I'd deffinitely want to hear it.

Personally, I don't see the problem with bumping old threads. I think it is great that newcomers care enough to read through pages of posts to find something that interests them, or that they have an oppinion on, or just made them laugh.
Oldtimers that have been reading the threads, and can guess what the response will be, don't have to read the bumped threads. But maybe they might want to get to know the new member of the forum better, so are actually interested in their oppinion even if it does just match thier own.
The community is only that, if we interact and share pieces of ourselves with one another. I hate seeing negative posts saying that others ideas are boring {tumbleweeds anyone} or pointless. Even one letter can be the catalyst for great times if people embrace it and interact with each other, k?
Remember that we were all new once.
And some questions will always remain true in the hearts of members: cash or experience?, is solymr better than crag, or does gunnar stand laughing from the bushes?
Will HC ever get T-shirts and coffee mugs?
And most importantly, who did win the HC's got talent contest
Hopefully it will remain forever that Val is too sexy for HC

Well there are alot of interesting threads.
What I have seen from other threads recently, I cant blame them from reading & bringing them up.
Now with video games from the heroes forum is a different story.
Wish lists to old ideas when newer & better ideas come into effect.
Bringing up older heroes tactical threads will not even be read anyways.

Hmm ....
I see nothing wrong at all with thread necromancy. Let them rise from the grave and reclaim new victims. The sooner we succumb the more expedient our decaying minds might find new intellect and insights.
