Ooops, hehe, my memory bailed on me
Btw AoW2 is going to be more like MoM than the original AoW. A LOT more.
1) You now control a wizard and are no longer race dependant. You choose your magic sphere like in MoM.
2) You can now build cities again from scratch and there will be in city upgrades.
3) They are putting back in the draconians, one of the original MoM races.
How heroes4 will become more like MoM:
Creatures can now move WO a hero.
Heroes are now troops.
Creature stacks attack at the same time.
Creature summoning (apart from elementals).
Am I missing some?

Can somebody tell me where you are getting their info on Aow? AoW was almost a good game but it was flawed pretty badly at least to me. Some of the stuff I hear about AoW II on this thread sound really interesting like it might have the depth missing in AoW I. I'd be interested in knowing where I can read more.

There are two AoW sites that I find interesting.
The Planet of Wonders
http://tech-war.virtualave.net/
And Age of Wonders Heaven Forum http://aow.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/Ultimate.cgi
You can compere those games yourself. In my opinion HoMM, still, is an unquestionable leader as far as graphic is concerned (and hopefully music too). On the other hand AoW provides some unique features.
I agree with Wyvern. The games like HoMM, AoW, Disciples and maybe even Civ will look more alike. The question is which of the games will offer somthing uniqe?
Fortunatelly we can play them all .... if we have enough time

If it can play like an "unofficial MOM2" then I don't really want something unique. MOM2-clone as close to MOM as possible will satisfy me. And AOW is a lot closer to MOM than the HOMM series. The only gripe I had about AOW was the stupid fact that you had to select your troop stack on the overland map before you can tell it to move. Even when you end turn, and start the next turn. That stack should stay selected, because it's annoying to constantly have to click on your own units for moving.
I really liked the High Men race with all their healing units. I wish HOMM had a unit with an ability to heal (wait.. they sort of already do). For multiplayer, HOMM is probably better because it's not as slow paced, although it still does take several hours.

Some time ago I played the demos of both AoW and Disciples, and I thought that they had some good features, but that HoMM3 was far superior anyway. Now some of the features will be used in HoMM4, which I think will make the game even better. Probably HoMM, AoW and Disciples will be more similar now, but I think HoMM4 will still be superior.
However, I can't imagine how CIVILIZATION can be compared to HoMM. Civ3 and HoMM4 will probably be the main competitors within turn-based strategy games, but that's the only similaritiy I can find. Yes, there is an option of a fantasy game in Civ2: Test of Time, but still, the game is totally different.

Yes there are a couple I can think of.
Some other MOM like things:
- Isometric battlefield
- The schools of magic (Death, Life, Chaos, Nature) (and the fact opposing schools can't combine but you can combine other schools)
- Overland enchantments/summons (? -- don't know but they might have permanent summons for once)
- A party of heroes will probably be a good party.. (even if impractical)
- Neutral units being allowed to wonder and own towns/mines
