My story
I got a CD game mix of the 1997 on my 8th birthday. One of the games was heroes 2. Then I dont remember the year but I think it was either 1998 or '99 when I got heroes 3. Then I didn't like it very much so I didn't play it - I kept playing Homm2. Now a few months ago I stated playing Heroes 3 again and its good. But doesn't beat Heroes 2.

the reason i playd all of the heroes games except for 3 is because i was bored and had nothing 2 do so i went 2 the computer and what do i see if not a hammer and sword clashed that was the sortcut for HOMM 1 so i pressed it twice than my PC crashed so i restarted and did it again and it worked and from that day on i liked homm games oh and i was very young like 7 so my big brother who installed the game helped me ALOT that's all folks.

oh wow, such a place where ppl governed by nostalgia and good memory open themselves to other users giving shards of their lives only to be passed by becouse of the omnipresent long post reluctance.
Couldn't dream of sth better!
I remember playing the 2nd part, and to be totally amused by it. Never thought that 'turn' game would be so good (even tough I played chess by then =]).
Anyway I 1st saw it when I came to my friend. Played couple of hours and.... dreamt about having a stable and good enough computer to play it...
I cursed the life's cruelty through next several years till I got the computer & got bored with h2 & h3 in a month...
& then I discovered alcohol.....

Ironicaly I'm a case where stealing software helped the company, i got a burnt copy of Homm2 (on kind of a homemade demo cd) it came with no videos and no intro or anything with some 5 games, all without videos and stuff. but i got to play the game.
later i fell in love with it and spent hundreds of dollars in the franchise (i bought Heroes 1+2 compendium, Homm3 ROE, AB and Complete, then Homm4 + the first expansion.)
I never would have downloaded the demo because i was on dial up. but because I got a *stolen* copy I bought them all and also got my cousins addicted and between us I wouldnt be suprised if we gave them 1000$

This is my story
I don't remeber the details of how she got it, but my mom, yes, my mom, showed me HOMM 1. It took we a long while to understand (I was five), but I loved it. I only started enjoying it, though, after I stopped being a coward. I used to be terrified of attacking Warlock castles for fear of them having Dragons.
Later, my mom bought me HOMM 2 and I loved it also, especially the upgrades.
Later, my mom bought me HOMM 3 + AB, and that was one of the best games ever.
Later, in America, my mom got me HOMM 4, which I loved even more than all the others combined.
Finally, a few months ago, I downloaded Equilibris. I like it.

As I Recall,
My friends in the airforce and I visited, for the usual hangout after work, at Darryl's dorm room. We mostly played Twisted Metal 2, Diablo, and Baldur's Gate. We also played various games of AD&D 2nd edition. Darryl was our DM and he was always sitting at his computer drawing up his maps for our campaigns. I had always wondered what the program was that he was doing it on and he told me it was called Heroes3. We hardly ever played the game. The map editor allowed him to create detailed schematics for the kingdom we were campaigning in. Later(about 2 years), I decided to start playing the game because I had become bored of Final FantasyVII, Diablo, and Twisted Metal2. I wanted to play something new so I started playing Heroes3 in 2000 I think. Then it took me a very long time before finally finding this community and meeting all these cool fans that also loved the game.

My friend Micky showed it to me. I'm not sure if I'll guess the year, but I think it was 1999. I was more interested in another game then, and I kept asking him to play that one (dont even remember now). He insisted to show me homm3. So he did. But i put a lot of emphasis on graphics, so at first glance, i really didnt like the advanture map. i asked him to turn it off once again and he said: "ok, just wait to see the creatures."
"Fine fine. I'll see ur damn creatures."
And when he entered stronghold, i saw them, all beautifully lined up and from that moment i'd fallen in love with them. when i saw inferno, i was even more crazy about that game, and i installed it the very next day.
then i installed homm2, but i didnt like it.
years later i installed homm4, but i didnt like it.
then i came here, and i liked it.
