Quote: OMFG
H1 no upgrades
H2 some upgrades
H3 all upgrades
H4 dual sets (incredibly stupid)
H5 dual upgrades (also slot wasting)
and then H6 dual creatures and upgrades?!
H7 some triple upgrades and split townss!?!
All creatures have one dual, upgrades and alternate upgrades
You choose the dual(not both) and upgrade and can't change.

After playing H4 for a long time and returning to H3, I find the upgrades annoying almost... not sure why exactly, I think it's the putting it in the army thing...
I think the dual armies do make for a more interesting game strategy wise, as well as creating variety when you play it over and over.
I also think the ability for troops to move independently was a positive in H4.
It would be good to see a combination of the +ves from both 3&4 in H6.

Maybe because the game dont need upgrading anymore.
Somethings too much upgrading adds too much to the game.

One upgraded level though does add to it. And apparently the second alternative is one of the most wanted TotE features.

ANY form of dual units is annoying - as in HoMM 4, when you captured another town from an enemy and find he chose half of the other side of units.
As long as there is only one town of a type on the entire map, then it doesn't matter, but with only one town its a bit boring.
I mean with 4 to 8 teirs, two units to a teir, two upgrades to a unit then you end up with 16 to 32 units per town, and when you are trying to consolidate, and take all of you units / divide them evenly, then you cant because you've now got 6 battle griffins, 5 royal griffins, 4 normal griffins, 3 crusaders, 2 vindicators, and a knight in a pair tree. And you can't take them all with you, and you can't leave half of them at home, because if you do then you will have two or three slots left. And if you decide to leave everything in its home town, then your hero can at most have the support of his one town, and only will he have it's full support if you are leaving no defenses.
Dual teirs or dual upgrades (let alone both) remove your ability to stack things coming from different towns.

But with alternate upgrades you WILL choose what to upgrade when you capture a town. The alt. upgrade and the normal upgrade share the same building. At least that's how I think it is...

IMO, two things. I never played Heroes IV, but only having four creature levels seems like a bad call. Also, the fact that creatures have to be led by heroes actually makes perfect sense, contrary to what people may think.

You can retrain upgrades from regular to alternates but you can choose which you will buy anyway. It's confirmed by ubi.

Upgrades and their alternatives are very mutch welcome. Inside towns there should not be any complains when you can buy original, upgrade or the alternative creatures and you can even train those upgrades to alternatives.
That being said the only "bad" thing about alternatives is that there are now higher change to get completely new stack of joiners. This might be hardest for Necros "what to raise?" but that is the only downsides what i can think of. Leaving those minor things aside the game will improve mutch after TotE.
