Poll Question: Riddle Poll: Select your best answer
Imagine that you have made the following home made riddle.
"Twinkling where you least expect,
an Orb of Death, hard to deflect"
Which answer do you think is best?
The riddle is not a modern riddle so answer should fit in a middle-ages/renaissance perspective.
Please vote and feel free to motivate your vote.

The person posing the riddle does have one of the above in mind, yes.
Myself I thought another answer would be the best, or equally good, so I decided to ask on-line.
____________
"A brilliant light can either illuminate or blind. How will you know which until you open your eyes?"

is the "correct" answer a star and your own answer "a pair of blinking eyes"
none of them really seem to fit, although to a superstitious medieval mind "star" is probably the best fit.

There is no correct answer. Only answers.
I think all of the above answers fits fairly well with the riddle.

*lol*
I read the answer as "THE morning star" (= the planet Venus I think), not "A morning star", so did not make that association at all. But yes, I agree with you, that seems the best answer to me also.

For both "A star" and "A morning star" the riddle uses different meanings in first and second line.
A star twinkles, a (throwning) star does not.
A morning star (common name for Venus as noted) can twinkle, while the weapon does not not.
And vice versa for the second line. Stars on the sky are not tricky to deflect, but thrown stars or a morning star can be.
The other answers have their own merits. I'm just waiting for someone to mention some Kung-Fu lyrics I came across when looking at key-words from the riddle on the 'net.

I had watched kung fu and there was an orb that was occasionally lit up and could give power to someone. But as a general question...It could be a bullet - though I doubt the flash of the gun counts as twinkling Still it's a home made riddle you never know.

Ah well... if I have hinted I may just as well link it. Only giving the opening lines here. Check out the link if you want to see the full lyrics/song.

I'll make you my personal punching bag

Djive a while ago you posted a riddle. I consisted of a matrix and a code. Nobody was able to solve it, maybe you should re-post it?

It can still be found in the riddle thread, which I think is still open. Actually, I think it's in two threads. (One by Angelito and one by Milena.)
I don't think posting it here would be appropriate since this is not a puzzle solving thread, but feel free to revive said threads. Perhaps someone will find the correct answer.
