PRESERVE HAS ISSUES
CONTROVERSIAL PLACEMENT OF CREATURES
IN PRESERVE + STRONGHOLD
it seems as though, by using the "must be a different kind of creature per level" law given to us by 3do, there is no existing creature(except one) that is known that could be the 2nd L3 for Preserve.... !!! Im surprised no one noticed this before...
ok, we know that unicorns are L3 for preserve... but hasnt everyone been saying that satyrs were too? this wouldnt work because they are both walkers... even if satyrs are spellcasters, they still hafta be a different type(spellcasters do not count as a different type). so what creature that is a flyer/shooter/teleporter could fill that empty L3 spot???
that is the question i ask you.
my only answer(and only guess), THE MANTIS. though i wouldnt have first thought it, it makes sense. It has always been thought of as a creature summonable by preserve, and it has wings... so it may turn out to be the answer. of course im sure some of you disagree... 
on to the stronghold. it has its issues too.
we know that one of the L2's is the troll(walker), correct?
then that means we need a shooter or a flyer in the other spot. that eliminates the nomad(walker), and all other neutrals (except one) that you could (maybe) dream of being there. if you notice, no creatures are left.
could we be seeing a BRAND NEW CREATURE IN THE STRONGHOLD??? i think so...
that or the one wild alternative i spoke of: THE HARPY... a LONG SHOT, and not generally thought of as related to any stronghold creatures, but it is a flying creature...

...in CHU he has placed Mantis in the Preserve roster...
...about the Harpy... it could work...

yeah,
i put the mantis on preserve too, but just put a "?" under L2 Stronghold... i think harpy may be a bit much of a long shot...

Well, we have had this discussion already - and it seems that "the law given by 3do" is only an "estimation".

so you think leprechauns are just neutrals eh? interesting...
uh, preserver.. you have trolls and beserkers both L1 to solve the stronghold problem buddy... i dont think so... i dont think theyll break the variety promise anywhere.
also, speaking of trolls...
i was looking thru some pictures, and noticed something.
Trolls look STRIKINGLY similar to peasants(!)
they have the same exact frame but are a little skinnier...
look below and i think you will see it too, hehe.
i always thought trolls would be much heavier built than peasants... but i guess not in H4.
speaking of which, i was wondering, HOW DO WE KNOW TROLLS ARE TROLLS??? 3DO to my knowledge has not officially disclosed any information about them being trolls... i think they are goblins myself. it would be defying everything established by previous Heroes' games by making trolls L1 or L2...
unless someone can prove me wrong here... i just see no reason for us to assume them trolls...

White tigers: As I remember the Gamespot preview movies, I could have sworn Jeff mentioned White Tigers as being in the Stronghold. I just went back to Gamespot's site, and ran all the interview movies again, and that statement wasn't there. I also remember Jeff mentioning the crusader and angel as the top of the Haven creature order, but again, that statement doesn't seem to be on the voiceover any longer. Looks like they may be doing some minor shuffling of the lineups as a result of pre-beta testing? Or, Jeff mis-spoke, and they edited the comment out. Or, my mis-spent youth is catching up to me, and I'm hallucinating.

Incubus too once told me the White Tiger was in the Stronghold. And while a wild creature fits better in the Preserve, it somehow makes some sense there. Fantasy art has often shown barbarian-like warriors next to wild animals such as tigers and panthers. Maybe that's where the Stronghold relation came from. Anyway, creatures will keep switching towns and changing stats until the game is in beta, so there is no need to do a lot of research yet.

Ah I think I know where you are talking about, it's the celestrial heavens FAQ you are refering to. However that FAQ is highly unofficial, and there are already things on there which we know are incorrect or just guesses. Only certain parts of it actualy come from 3DO (you can tell by the quotes which parts are from them).

so whaddo you think the stronghold lineup will look like preserver?
since the one on C Heavens is angelspit's...
i dont think devil will spellcast...
i think you are leaving out a type of movement... devil is teleporter, not flyer. and therefore is different than bone drag.
also, it was thought for a time that stronghold would have white tiger, but there is no room for it in stronghold.
look here: (stronghold lineup)
Level 1:
Centaur (shooter), Beserker(walker)
Level 2:
Troll (walker)
???
Level 3:
Thunderbird (flyer)
Ogre Mage (walker)
Level 4:
Cyclops (shooter)
Behemoth (walker)
the only place to put white tiger would be L2, since all the other places we are sure of. but troll is already a walker, so white tiger CANT go there. so it must be in preserve, and cant be in stronghold.
also, i need some feedback to the troll/peasant thing - do other people agree with me here?
Lastly, i was wondering if the background on my page is working or not, just in case its not(cuz a couple times, it didnt work for me), then you wont be able to see the link to get to the creatures list, so here is the direct link to the list:

Anyway, Gimme some feedback on the preserve or stronghold lineups... whaddo you think they will be?

Level II might be the Satyr, since it doesn't fit in the Preserve; it could be magic.

Flying and teleporting are the exact same thing. There is absolutely no functional difference between the two. They just have different graphics. Of course it's unclear if the devil in fact does still teleport.

Well I noticed you had the crusader still listed as the lvl 4 for the Haven. There may have been other errors to that and other creature lineups too.

I didn't think we had seen a confirmed picture of the devil yet to know for sure.

It's fine to say you believe it, but you shouldn't make it out as official when it clearly states that it is not. As of now that "rule" about troops still doesn't seem to really exist even if it is a good guess.

You are right. I shouldn't have called it official. We haven't seen any confirmet picture of the devil, but I believe it's this one.
Of course, it could be somekind of demon too, but if it's a devil, I think he's a flyer.
