"EURO" is currently written with latin and greek letters on the bills; it's only fair that they write it with cyrillic letters too with Bulgaria's entry into the EU.
I just can't help to think that it's a bit too much already with the "BCE ECB EZB EKT EKP" line at the top. See this image.

The global warming's effects strike us strongly; The ice in Greenland is melting quickly. Every year, about 100 Billion tons of ice melt, according to the seintests' calculations. They also say that if the entire Greenland melts, the sea level will raise by 23 feet (about 7 meters). All the costal cities in the world will be in a serious problem, and hundreds of people might be in danger and become poor or homeless.

I just think this is interesting to read:

Russia 'chessboard killer' guilty

A Russian shop assistant has been found guilty of 48 murders, which he once said he recorded on a chessboard.

A Moscow jury convicted Alexander Pichushkin, known to the Russian media as the "Bittsa maniac", after four hours of deliberation.

Most of the murders were committed over five years, in the Bittsa Park in Moscow's southern suburbs.

Pichushkin has never denied the charges. He was also found guilty on three counts of attempted murder.

He is due to be sentenced later this week.

The jury found there were no mitigating circumstances, and rejected a defence request to clear him of 18 of the killings. The prosecution has requested a life sentence.

Many Russians would like to see him executed but Russia has suspended the use of the death penalty.

Alexander Pichushkin said he had killed 61 people!

Afraid to go out

Pichushkin began his 14-year killing spree in Moscow in 1992, and was arrested in June 2006.

His victims were drowned in a sewer or bludgeoned to death with a hammer, investigators say.

The BBC's James Rodgers in Moscow says people living near the park where he stalked his victims became afraid to venture out even for a walk.

Pichushkin originally said he planned to carry out 64 killings, one for each square on a chessboard.

But he later denied this, saying he would have carried on killing indefinitely if he had not been arrested. He puts the number of his victims at 61.

Many were elderly men who got drunk with him, investigators say, though he also killed three women.

The vigilance of a relative of one of the dead led to his capture.

Before the Pichushkin case came to light, Russia's most notorious serial killer in recent times was Andrei Chikatilo, who killed 53 women and children in the southern city of Rostov. He was convicted and executed in 1994.

What is latin English ?

Latin and English are very different. The English comes from the Germanic (sorry for the spelling) languages. Concerning the latin... well it is the latin.

No

I don't agree.

Perhaps you don't know the difference because your mother tong is different from both (germanic and latin languages), but i insure you that there are a lot. There are a lot of common things too (due to the Romanians).

French, Italian, Portuguese, Rumanian, Spanish are based on the latin language this is the reason why i can understand them (well, not always->Rumanian a few). For example i can almost understand much of what an Italian says me without having learned it.

Why do you think that French are always complaining with the English?: It is different.

Actually it's about 60% Latin/French and about 30% Germanic. However 80% of most commonly used words in English have Germanic origin. If we also take into account English grammar, phonetics, morphology and the rest we can say that English is a Germanic language and not Romance.

I think learning French open the gate to other Latin languages, (It was my first language I've learned).
Now I know some English, some French, and a little of Spanish words, and through the French language I found it easier to understand, therefore to learn some other Latin languages.

It is till recently that I understood about the English Language being west Germanic.

Still I found some common words between French and English, maybe they are imported words.

Roland the wiki page is interesting:

The proportions in English vocabulary:

Word origins

Influences in English vocabulary

One of the consequences of the French influence is that the vocabulary of English is, to a certain extent, divided between those words which are Germanic (mostly Old English) and those which are "Latinate" (Latin-derived, either directly from Norman French or other Romance languages).

Numerous sets of statistics have been proposed to demonstrate the various origins of English vocabulary. None, as yet, are considered definitive by a majority of linguists.

A computerised survey of about 80,000 words in the old Shorter Oxford Dictionary (3rd ed.) was published in Ordered Profusion by Thomas Finkenstaedt and Dieter Wolff (1973)[35] that estimated the origin of English words as follows:

Langue d'oïl, including French and Old Norman: 28.3%
Latin, including modern scientific and technical Latin: 28.24%
Other Germanic languages (including words directly inherited from Old English): 25%
Greek: 5.32%
No etymology given: 4.03%
Derived from proper names: 3.28%
All other languages contributed less than 1% (e.g. Arabic-English loanwords)
A survey by Joseph M. Williams in Origins of the English Language of 10,000 words taken from several thousand business letters[36] gave this set of statistics:

French (langue d'oïl), 41%
"Native" English, 33%
Latin, 15%
Danish, 2%
Dutch, 1%
Other, 10%
However, 83% of the 1,000 most-common English words are Anglo-Saxon in origin.

Dutch origins
Main article: List of English words of Dutch origin
Words describing the navy, types of ships, and other objects or activities on the water are often from Dutch origin. Yacht (jacht) and cruiser (kruiser) are examples.

French origins
Main article: List of French phrases used by English speakers
There are many words of French origin in English, such as competition, art, table, publicity, police, role, routine, machine, force, and many others that have been and are being anglicised; they are now pronounced according to English rules of phonology, rather than French. A large portion of English vocabulary is of French or Oïl language origin, most derived from, or transmitted via, the Anglo-Norman spoken by the upper classes in England for several hundred years after the Norman Conquest.

The langue d'oïl refers to the French language of the middle age:

France had 2 main languages separated in 2, the half in tre north and the other half in the south.

The north of France had the langue d'oïl, while the south had the langue d'oc.

The words "langue d'oc" gave afterward the name of a sunny region in south of France: Languedoc-Roussillon.

Just to gve a little new (of last year), the mayor of Montpellier the capitole of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, wanted to change the name of the region "Septimanie" because of some roman reasons i suppose. But most of the people was against it, so he didn't succeed to make what he wanted.
