turn-based games recommendation please !
Hi all....I just want to hear your recommendation about other Turn-Based Strategy Games (can I call TBS games?). I really like to play TBS games like HoMM types that's entirely based in real fantastic worlds. Like Disciples, Etherlords and Age of Wonders. But I think these are outdated now and I just want to find another similar TBS games. Civilization series (especially IV) are really great but couldn't catch my eyes for so long as I'm not quite having fun playing in Historic or Modern background(can I say Sci-Fi too? like in Universe).
Do you have any ideas for me ?

Master of Magic is a classic. It is a bit old, but it is an amazing turn based strategy game based in a fantasy world of magic, mythic creatures, heroes and powerful wizards. Get DOSBox, download it and try it.
I've never understood why this game haven't had a second version.

Alpha Centauri was made by Firaxis after Civ II. You can get the demo off Gamespot. Try it, it's excellent.
Basically, you land on Alpha Centauri and fight with six other factions to control Planet.

I agree with everything you wrote, but if he found Disciples and Age of Wonders outdated, I'm afraid he might be turned off by MM's graphics and gameplay.Quote: I've never understood why this game haven't had a second version.
The company closed down, while other possible developers didn't agree with Atari's supervision. There are some unofficial projects though.
Despite the differences, Age of Wonders is as close as it gets. Sadly, Triumph decided to move on and released an RPG called Overlord, instead of focusing on AoW3.
On the other hand, Disciples 3 is still in production (by a different dev though), so you might want to keep an eye on that one. Have you tried Fantasy Wars (formerly known as Mythic Wars)? Puzzle Quest is not exactly what you're looking for, but it just came out and sounds like fun. In addition, you may enjoy the upcoming King's Bounty (formerly known as Battle Lord).
