Crazy is fun. Since we live in a crazy world though, crazy is normal, and for some reason the tag 'normal' for me just bothers me. Anyhow, I think America will end up attacking somebody else. Don't think they are going to let this war end anytime soon. Just wonder what the excuse will be. WMD? Supporting terrorist (which by the way can be used as an umbrella now to mean anybody the government doesn't like)? Somebody's second cousins roomate is trying to go out with somebody elses aunt twice removed? I am sure it will be creative.

Oh I'm sure by then they'll have discovered a means to make cars fly and fuel out of old uneaten cans of Pork and Beans.

@Consis
Arguing for the sake of arguing? It seemed to me like reasonable debate. This entire idea about the Iraqi war being about oil has been said many times at HC, but never been challenged (to my knowledge). So I asked for evidence and an explanation on how it works.
And yes, the burden of proof absolutely falls on the people who make the accusation. I merely asked the accusers to fulfill their obligation of proof. It's a simple matter of "innocent until proven guilty". Innocence is presumed, and guilt must be proven.
I can accuse Bush of being a satanist and eating babies for breakfast. If someone challenged me on it, the burden of proof would be on me as the accuser, not the person who challenged me on it.
The accusers of Bush have not shown any evidence. The ONLY thing that's been shown that MIGHT be true is opportunity, but opportunity is far from evidence. If I'm at a sporting event with 50,000 people and a player on the field gets shot, I had opportunity. But that's not evidence I was the one who actually shot the player.
These basic concepts of burden of proof have been around for hundreds, maybe even thousands of years. It's not something I suddenly made up just for the sake of argument.
As for being too lazy to do the research, you should know by now that I'm not afraid of research. Yes, the burden of proof is on the other party, but it's not like I'm totally unprepared.

Quote:
Fact: Iraq did have WMDs at one time (for sure by the late 90s they still had them). To my knowledge there is no reason to believe they got rid of them. They for sure had them at one time, so where are they?????? That's still a very pertinent question. They had chemical weapons, and probably bio weapons. They had missiles capable of hitting Israel (which they used during the first gulf war). And they for sure were working on longer range missiles capable of hitting Europe.
Well this sure is a jolly ol' discussion. As to Iraq's WMD... Yes in the 80's and early 90's Iraq had a stock of WMD. But only because the US supplied them with it. Saddam, was once a favorite of the US and they helped Ba'ath in their coup against the Iraq communists. After he became head of Iraq(1979) Saddam was a big fan of the US and the US liked their friendly chap in Iraq(as they did love any "anti-left" rulers in the world, it didn't matter that they were lunatics/fascists/mass murderers/ dictators, just ask Henry Kissinger). But back to the point, Iraq HAD WMD, thanks to the US of A.. After the first Gulf War(Another Oil War...), Iraq was supposed to disarm their stock of biological and chemical weapons.
But, the more we reach Opperation Dessert storm 2, there is new talk of WMD still being stocked "somewhere in Iraq". But surprise, surprise no Weapons of Mass Destruction have been found to date.
So what happened to them? Did Saddam really disarm? Did he sell them? Did he hide them(If so he certainly hid them better then himself)? Or did he convert them into a "phony cure for cancer" and sell it around the world?
It still is fun to someone who firmly believes that Saddam HAD WMD, we just didn't find them yet, and that the war in iraq WAS NOT! about oil, or profits, military presence ect. but it really was to help the suffering people of Iraq.
