Astral Masters

the official site

I am aware the game is an MTG rip-off, but I've been playing the demo and enjoying it... Actually, I would be enjoying it if I managed to win once in a while! So... Any tips for the singleplayer mode? What should a good deck consist of?

A good game indeed, I remember baklava praising it as well.

Tips you say...

*Not more than 2 elements in a deck. (at least until you master different combos)

*Try to think up a general strategy and build your deck according to it, e.g. power raising cards from water and power-dependant damage spells from air.

*Learn from the A.I., it uses some really nice combos and strategies.

*Don't give up, skill comes with time.

Because it's very different from MTG. In fact, I don't think you can call it an MTG rip-off unless you think any trading card game is an MTG rip-off.

Well, I usually use just one element (if you use different decks your health goes down, and I've got everything I need in one deck).
I prefer Fire, it has great offensive spells throughout the entire game (most of which kill creatures automatically), alright early game troops (orcs and goblins), plus great mid/late game troops (minotaur, salamander, efreet etc). The point is that by casting some spells or creating some troops your own health goes down, but if you use just Fire, you'll have plenty of hit points to go around.

I hate to say it, but I'm not a fan. I must admit I'm just a casual gamer and wasn't even looking for a card game, let alone this specific one. I was given the link and loved it, simple as that. Who knows, perhaps I'll finally try the real McCoy thanks to this rip-off. Frankly, I've always been kinda scared by the scope of MTG...

Wasn't it Arcomage? Frankly, Guz, it's been a long time since I played it - so I'll let someone else answer your question.

I dunno, I just wrote "MTG rip-off" so people would know what's the thread about. I guess it's not exactly an MTG clone.

Hi,

- (if you use different decks your health goes down, and I've got everything I need in one deck). I dont get that part. And also what is the paramaters for a card to beat the opposive, I mean is it att vrs. att and then the higher wins ?
I just got creamed, again again. I had 32 life and suddently I was at - 7 ...and it was due to a single card that the AI. played.

- However, I do know that a snake card ( jumps to another open slot ) cannot be used more than once, for the +2 att . Also the Phoenix card alomost ensures you a win..well the AI always wins when it plays that vrs. me.

P.S. I have to agree with Vlaaddy here, darn fun game, really gets you after a while

Sure, with fourteen years' worth of history and several thousand cards, it may seem intimidating, but all you really need to get started and have fun is a single preconstructed deck (as long as you know someone else who has one). Oh, and they're releasing a two-deck duel set called Elves vs Goblins this year. Seems like a perfect starting point for two players.

And you know, I was very sceptical about it as well, but that changed as soon as I actually tried the game (I was given a deck for my birthday last year). But if you do try it, then make sure to set up a strict budget. It can really drain your wallet if you don't set limits

All cards belong to four different elements: Fire, Water, Air and Earth. If you mix three or four types, you'll have only 30 health points. If you stick to one kind, you'll start with 50. Similarly, the number of starting cards depends on the number of elements in your deck - again, the fewer elements, the better.

You know you can edit your deck, right?

Very simple, it's attack vs health. But if there are no creatures in the opposite slot, the opponent's creatures will deal damage to you.

Some creatures (e.g. walls) have skills which decrease the attack of all your units, other (e.g. orc chieftain) increase it.

Whoa, that's a lot. I don't know, perhaps it was some spell dependant on spellpower...?

I liked Phoenix in the begginning myself, but you simply have to develop tactics against it.

- I have been playing in classic duel mode, and I always start with 40 health. -Just took a closer look at the play customized deck option. To me it looks like I need points/credit in some way to  actually customize a (new?) deck ..or ?

-Anyway, I will try an make my own deck when I get around to it, and see if that is any good Thanks for the tips,Vladyman.

P.S. - Any hints on my previous question on AM/hammy ?  Could be fun if it was duable.

It doesn't matter if it's a classic duel or the league mode, you can always edit your decks (even delete all your cards and start a new deck from scratch).

Hi,
- Well I have tried to make my own deck, but so far I haven't had any luck with it.
Say a random deck from the list has a value of 5000. Does that mean I can only make my own deck with same or lower price ? Also do I need to rename it after.
Ex. Earth deck ...then after I have made a new version of that one,I rename it Earth deck_2  ?
- Lill help here

Nope. You can make a deck with any value you like. The only limits are that any deck in the game must contain between 30 and 50 cards (IIRC) and not more than 3 copies of each card.

Quote:

No. The deck must have a name, but you don't need to change it every time you edit your deck. However, I think that once you edited a deck and clicked OK, the deck is changed forever(), even if you change the name.
