Heroes 5 Fortress compared to Heroes 3 Fortress
why did nival make the fortress not like a swamp and the wyvern is in stronghold
its really weird
from a swamp it got changed to a snowy place with dwarfs :S

I still don't understand why so many people have such a strong connection with HoMM3 Fortress. I can understand people that demanded the return of the Stronghold, it is one of the core HoMM factions, but Fortress... It's been around for one installment only and except for the Hydra none of its creatures were used in HoMM before HoMM3 or in HoMM4, so why does it have to be in HoMM5?

coz people fell in love with it in h3
it doesnt have to be in the previous chapters so we can consider it ( a must legend )to include it in the next games .. its somthing cool and specially the idea of faction that flows on water .. for the fortress i dunno its weird in H5 .. i personally prefere the H3 fortress

It wasn't floating on the water (except the tent), if anything it resembles the HoMM5 Sylvan that's based on a tree and partially on water.

Fortress is a better name for mountain dwarves than for swamp creatures, anyways.

Well, how would people feel if there was no Inferno? I mean, that was only in once but without it the game would be very different.

i just love the riders of dungeon and the scouts and minotaurs and everything XD
and actually i think that fortress more sounds like a "greenish" place..

wooooooooooooooow...... don't you get it, it's just a name! besides you couldn't call the swampy place back in h3 Fortress cause it sucked real bad and everyone hated it. 3DO should have called it Swampy piece of *beep*. and like Mlai said, Fortress is a way better name for the Dwarf faction since it's like fort-ress so it means it's highly defended and stuff. can't beleive someone asks such a stupid question.

I liked the Fortress from Homm3 too! I think it was my favorite castle, but it seems weak vs range/magic....Right now I like Stronghold for Homm5 even more! I love my orcseses.
Anyways, I don't mind soo much that they weren't included in Homm5. Sure, I would've liked to see more variety in some of the different town's lineups and I think they coulda squeezed a basilisk or gorgon in there somewhere...but whatever, I can always go back to 3 if I feel like playing Basilisks, Gorgons and Dragonflies. I think one of the best and most essential things about the Heroes series is the conintual change. You don't want to keep everything exactly the same, otherwise it will just be the same thing with better graphics and maybe slightly different characters and plotlines.
P.s. Fortress can mean a lot of different things, but I think a stone/mountain theme works really well for it.

Different you say? OK, I agree, but it doesn't necessarily make it bad. Actually I've heard so many people complain about how they are sick of all the "lots of demons try to destroy the world and everybody unites against them" routine, that maybe HoMM5 would be better off with some fresh faction instead of Inferno. (not saying that Inferno is bad, just trying to make a point here).

Fortress for homm three sounds somewhat unfitting.
fortress makes me think of a tall towering stone citadel situated safely from invaders much like the dwarven fortress.
homm three fortress would be more adaquetely named something such as pyramid, hive, or Mangrove.

No. H5 Stronghold is closer to H5 stronghold.  They have some creatures in common (like the Cyclops and Goblin), and it mainly a coninuance of the concept, although the Orcs were only a single creature in H3 Stronghold and in H5 they are the entire race.
@Geny: I think that people miss the swamp town concept, rather than that Fortress specificly. In H5, we have Necropolis in a dead swamp, for an unknown reason. A town in a living tropical swamp would be really nice. All those jungle swamp creatures are really interesting, in my opinion.

Well Inferno is very based in might and magic rpg...and wasn't it in 3 and 4?
I took a look over the fortress creature page but I didn't see any that reminded me of the 3 might and magic rpg's I've played...I'm ok with the town in 3 but not attached.
