Just save it to heroes/data folder and rename it to rmg. Thats it.
Have fun!

Slight correction. You need the txt extension, so the file name is rmg.txt. The next time you generate a random map it will use that template - unless you picked options not supported by the template (wrong size, #of players, etc).

It depends. Try both rmg and rmg.txt
Sometimes the file extension is hidden so when you write rmg.txt it actually becomes rmg.txt.txt which unfortunately does not work.

Yes, its exactly as Fanko said. Most of the times windows has this option by dafault - to hide known extention (like .jpg .avi and so on). So first you try just to rename it to rmg

What template are you using? What do you mean by it creates a "normal" map? Do you mean a fixed map, or an original CD random map? What does it say in the scenerio information? (it should tell you which template it used and the settings)
Here are the TOH templates.
One more suggestion just to make sure. I think the RMG file must be in the heroes/data folder BEFORE you start heroes.

It doesnt matter when you put the rmg, it must be just before you press the button to generate the map.
Another suggestion - some of the rmg templates have requirements. Like - only L or XL; or only M or L or XL and so on.
