I think my problem with guns (in real life as well as heroes) is that the're so cold, and so easy. Its so easy to kill someone without meaning to. With a Sword or a Bow you have to work at it, even a crossbow can be easily deactivated. But with a gun you can never be sure if it is empty or not. Death is so quick and impartial. A person shouldn't have to die that quickly.

Quote: I think its time for me to put my three cents in. I think that high-powered technology should not be incorporated into the game. That is why its called Heroes of Might and Magic. Might as in melee weapons and magic as in...well...magic. No guns or lasers involved. Now, splicing them together into a magic-powered gun like the gremlins can add to the heroes spirit. But, otherwise, no.
MIGHT. as melee weapons...
did you forgot archers in the whole MM universe???
how do they hurl an arrow without the help of "supernatural" powers?
same goes with guns.... especially renaissance gunmen. Harquebusiers, Musketeers, and Pirates

According to whom? By that logic and definition you could argue there shouldn't be ranged weapons in the game.
As for my own three cents: I say do not put high-technology stuff into the game outside of campaigns / story elements. Otherwise, if needed to advance a good storyline, go ahead.
hi-tech stuffs..... it is .... Assault rifle, Semi auto pistols, Tanks . Planes. Cruise missles are those to stay away from M&M universe. but for Harquebus and Muskets ignited by percussion action (the use of mercury fulminates.... alchemists stuffs... of course!) and operated with black powder....
that is an ADVANCED storyline
remember that ... there are cannons (that operated with loose balckpowder and shoots a round metal ball into enemy) in Might and Magic 8. (remember Dagger Wound Isle) .go and play it

That's your problem with semiautomatic pistols and assaut rifles
because we are not lived in the era of muzzleloading muskets
but those kind of guns exists! it NEEDS some works at it to reload. prime before you can fire. quite same way as bows and crossbows.

Its still pretty high tech, imho. Elves carring muskets would be like hearing the F-Word in a Heroes V cutscene. Its just so out of place!

hey. did i say in anywhere on this forum that WILD ELVES (not dark ones) should get firearms???????
those WILD ELVES are not that civilised enough to get any! they can get better bows to fight gunmen.
so your "fusilophobic" point of view erups because you are elf fan
I'm a fan of human race (Castellans) and have played some fantasy games that has guns (latest games i'm playing is a korean online game called Granado Espada.. i will talk about this game later somewhere else on this board).. mankind can accept harquebus, muskets, and cannons.
Elves are too conservative IMO
Dwarves are techno freeks. they always fond of anything better than crossbows

personally i dont think guns desrve a place in heroes either its not the kind of game that needs tech advances because the point is to battle with massive armies of beasts and fantasy creatures and if they were carrying even muskets it would take away the fantasy feel

Also, if such things are used remember a few things. When these things (guns, cannons, ect) were first created they were not as we see them today. First, they took forever to load. Just go out, buy a muzzle loader, and multiply that difficulty by 2 (especially in the heat of battle).
Second, backfire/misfires/exploding. Each of these creations when first invented had serious problems with this. You had more of a chance of these occuring then them actually working and hitting the target. Sure as each 'generation' of gun came about they got better and better, but even today guns still misfire (though backfire and exploding are all but eliminated) if not properly taken care of.
There is also the fact that if magic still exsisted when these things were created there would be additional complications. Think about what a fireball would do to a cannon? Or a couple barrels of the powder used? I wouldn't want to be anywhere around if one of these devices was struck by lightning either.

@fusilophobic: What's that mean?
@Mytical: That's an interesting thought, having the creatures blow up everytime they are hit by the right kind of destructive magic. However, that would make them pwn on all but Sylvan and Dungeon, who would not attack with their dragons since that would also make them explode.

Heroes VI - Ashan?! Nope
Quote: Remember that this is Ashan, which is a new world.
Actually, every single Heroes game has had a diferend world with every edition - so why should 6 be in the same world as 5? It just doesnt fit.

*Bangs head on table* What do you think?
Quote: and what happened to Post-Antarich Gryphonheart storyline?
Newsflash, the Gryphonhearts are dead. Lysander, his siblings and Nicolai are the last of their line. Btw the storyline is continued in Legends of the Ancients, a great Heroes V campaign by Marzhin.

That's wrong. The first three Heroes games took place in the same world (seperate continents). Heroes IV took place in another world in the same universe, following the Reckoning which destroyed the first one and ended up conveying thousands of refugees into the next.
Loathe as I am to say it (you know me), Ubisoft should continue with Ashan. There's already been far too much switching and swapping around of planets here with the scrapping of the old story, let's at least get things on some sort of track.

Okay, ive only played one game of Heroes 2 and I havent ever even seen Heroes 1 so I Might be wrong there. Anyway, if Heroes 4 was on a brand new planet, no wonder it was completely, utterly different!

Axeoth wasn't brand new as such. It already featured before in the two released Might and Magic books - The Dreamwright and The Shadowsmith, written by Geary Gravel in 1994-6.
(Yes, I just had to throw that in there)

Quote: @fusilophobic: What's that mean?
fusilophobic = bad attitudes against firearms (like BAN EVERY GUNS IN THE COUNTRY!)...... remember i don't know if there's a latin word for guns so i go for italian/french word for that. Fusil (in french), Fucil (in italian) and Fuzil (in spanish) means guns.
