Dark energy : Bad Bad Ideea
It is to small the amount of energy that you recive in a week! And it is not cumulative. After a battle you can rise only a small number of usualy low level creatures. You must hire lots of heroes and have lots of towns to make use of this feature.

And what is the problem with rising a huge number of low level creatures?
Before and in previous installments, all you could raise were skeletons.
I know you always want to see your favourit faction overpowered, but if you could raise 15+ tier 4, 5, 6, or 7 creatures, it wouldn't be fun.
It's only fair you can raise considerably less of the higher tiers.

I always wondered if a smaller per battle ammount would be possible, and during the battle not after. For instance...depending on your necromancy skill you enter battle.
During all the fighting you kill x creatures. X number of unupgraded (if they are unupgraded) or upgraded (if they are upgraded) get raised right then (ressurrect would still work for the stack, but the undead raised during the fight would not be affected by it) to join your side. Probably a bad idea tho.
Yes you would also keep any raised (if they are not destroyed) after the battle.

On the contrary it is brilliant for numerous reasons. The old system was overpowered, only raised one unit, had no restrictions, had no strategy about it, nothing. It just turned necropolis from overpowered to a normal faction and if you play correctly the dark energy will always be enough. It's all about what you raise, what you save for later, which neutrals you attack first and generally requires planning.

I would agree about one certain thing though, it kinda sucks that you lose it every week. Perhaps it shouldn't stack, but you should be able to retain at least a part of it.

DE should be like it regenerates each day not each week.
There is also a bug with the pillar of bones. If you build it actually gives 150 DE points,in reallity it does not.It just increases the cap from eg:200 points to 350.You will get the points next week so they are not usable if you build the pillar on that week.

DE is good as it is
otherwise necro will be able to dominate every map in short time with army of skellies or anything in count of 1-2k.

*nods* Fully agree. I like the idea of it regenerating with roughly 10% of the maximum amount per day. That basicly means you'll have a far easier time hoarding skellies early game, but in late game, when you start using up all your DE reserves, you'll only regenerate 70% each week of what you regenerate now.
Otherwise you could say 12,5% orso, that's full regeneration in 8 days.

As a reigning Archlich and Master of the Necropolis, the aspect of unlimited raising does have its certain appeal. However, the Dark Energy is their to add the balance to the Necropolis. As so finely pointed out, without it their would be hordes of Undead at your doorstep. The Necropolis also would be less interesting if the Dark Energy gave them the feeling of inevitable victory. So it takes a fair amount of skill to perserve Dark Energy during the week and use it when it counts. Also, about the pillar, the 150 DE is to use later, but the 10% bonus to necromancy starts immediately. Long live the Undead under Asha's will.

This is exactly what was wrong with it. It's been a problem since H3 (and H2?). You may like steamrollering over your opponent with an unstoppable horde of skeletons, but when your opponent is a human they may get understandably frustrated.

In reality, what would stop the necromancer to remain there and spend some few days rising the dead enemies as undead creatures. I wonder if that feature could be put in the game, you should loose some days but rise all the creatures.

I think that if you cant raise them all then they should stay there as "corpse" like an item on the map, For about 2 weeks and then it disappears

Imagine playing with a necro as ally... you: Let's attack their towns now... him: You do that, I'll stay here and raise some more units.

I would be fine with DE if it would be either larger sooner or replenished on a daily basis, instead of on the week.

DE is fine. It regenerates each week so that you don't resurrect bits of everything like mad. It makes the game a little more fair when you have to choose wisely what creatures you will want and live with that for the week. It is also fairly established so it's good in the early, middle and late game.
