What is your favorite band/musical group and how did you come across it?
Mine is Rhapsody of Fire (as they are now called) and I found out about them while watching a Devil May Cry 3 gameplay video on Youtube where their song plays in the background.

Aw...  no one has posted here and the topic is sliding away so let's put up some text.
I like Rhapsody of Fire too. It's one of the most famous power metal bands in the world. But it's not my favorite.
That's another power metal band Freedom Call, which I found just by surfing in Youtube. I checked some link to one of their songs and it sounded good so I exploited more.

Metallica is teh best band EVAH! 
I've listened to them since I was a kid. I used to sleep to ...And Justice for All. That's pure love. 
But the past few months I've been listening a lot to Nekrogoblikon, Le Mépris, Persuader, Ewigkeit, Björk and System of a Down. I also came across a jazz/hiphop band that's quite, good actually. Enbe is the name.

Swedish, Melodic deathmetal and snowing awesome!

Heard them on a Metal hammer record and fell in love, Found everything they made (or almost) and I love them! I really wanna see them live soon!

Audioslave
Made up of the Guitarist, Bassist and Drummer from Rage Against the Machine and the singer from Soundgarden, I would have to say is my favourite band. Close runner ups Red Hot Chili Peppers and Oasis.
While I probably had some Rage on my ipod at the time I hadn't really listened to them that much before I saw the Audioslave album artwork on iTunes for Out Of Exile
and found it eye catching and downloaded some of the songs. I fell in love with 'Be Yourself' and went on to get the rest of the album and their first album Audioslave
They were a bright light in the dark world of rock at the time, full of Taking Back Sunday and Greenday  
Bought their next album Revelations
on the day it came out.
A shame that they broke up and that I never got to see them on tour, but still have 3 great albums 
Also got me into RATM and Soundgarden alot more lol.

Hmm this is a hard one. A really really hard one. Poison, Metallica, AC/DC, the list is endless of really really good bands. If somebody held a gun to my head and said choose, however, I think I could. Though the lynch mob will probably come for me...here are my top 5, starting at 5 and working my way down.
5 - Spice Girls (girl power rules!).
4- No Doubt (No doubt about it, they were great)
3- Black Eyed Peas
2- Metallica
1- Pussycatdolls. Come on, they are hot, have decent music, are hot, can actually sing, are hot, and I love their videos. Did I mention they are HOT?
Note: However depending on mood, time of day, whim, and various other variables, this list changes. So like every 5 minutes or so.

Yeah, that's exactly the way it is.
Last night I came across this. It's a cover on Rolling Stones "satisfaction" by Björk and JP Harvey. It's AWESOME and it just makes me so happy.

They cant sing? The front singer, tries really hard and do a decent job. The others are just.. Dolls, trying to make her look good sorry

Well, the reason I say this is, I seen them before the 'flash'. Believe me, they can sing. Yes, for some reason right now the lead singer seems to be getting all the spotlight, but most of them do have vocal talent. Cut out the pop sound, the flash and the glitz, and they still are good.

Whoa...somebody else likes the spice girls? Cool, thought I was one of the few left . And Metallica is great indeed. Some bands have one song I like, so I don't count them (sorry got to have at least a ratio of 5:1 (songs I don't like:Songs I like) or not even being considered. Lucky is different then good.
Evanescence is a strong contender. Some of the 'hair bands' were awesome, and even Boch/ect can be considered. Garth Brooks has the best ratio for songs I like against songs I don't like, but isn't a band .

What do you think about their solo careers?
In my opinion Geri and Melanie C did great. The rest not so.

Same, I was stoked when they announced a reunion tour. Didn't get to see it though. . Maybe this will convince them to get back together more often however.

How can you just name one band?
My 5 favorites: Roy Orbison, Metallica, Queen, Johnny Cash and Beatles. If counting how many great songs they have it's pretty solid top 5.

My favourite band is Edguy and i'm a fan from 2001 when i first saw their tour on TV from Budapest.

2)Judas Priest: metal gods... victim of changes
