Tieru's File Found
K, now here's the finished product. The Tieru.xbd overwrites the one in the Unlock Campaign Heroes mod. The other two go in a folder in a folder in a folder Characters/Heroes/CS. Put 'em in the CS and put the series of folders in the Unlock mod along with them.
Here are the files. Enjoy.

You know, there's a way to add heroes without replacing (I'll have to look it up, though)... and that portrait is out of date, it's an unused one (we're going to make use of it in ToK though).

I don't like the other portrait. It doesn't fit.

For shortly Tieru was part of the GotP mod in 0.12 (Tested only by project members), but later he was removed.

The other portrait is the canonical one though
@Vokial: I think you were the one who posted info on how to add new heroes without replacing, do you remember where that was? Thanks

Ah yes thanks. Looks like it wasn't half as hard as I imagined, you just need to make a new MapObject file and add it to the table.

It is as hard as you imagined Ceph. I have one question: Has it been tried with Tribes of the East. Because, when I attempted to place the new hero file in the data.pak, Winrar locks and refuses to go any further. Weird. Is it that I just didn't wait?
P.S.- Tieru replaced Wyngaal, so Its no big deal.

In secret I was also working on this, but nonetheless go ahead. I think you can better replace tieru with tieru and make the filedate of the mod newer then the filedate from sfidanzas campaign hero unlocker. Then you can use them together

Sith, never, ever ever try to place files into data.pak. Leave it alone. You're meant to make mods by creating a .pak, .h5u or .h5m file (renamed zip or pak files), duplicating the file structure in data.pak, then placing the mod in the UserMods folder. But never edit the data files directly. I learned the hard way
@Magnomagus: Tieru's a sorta unique hero in that he's totally based on Wyngaal. The mapmakers put Wyngaal down on the map, opened his properties, added a custom .tga file in for his portrait and edited his name and bio without affecting the base Wyngaal in other maps - so he doesn't have a unique ID ingame. I am trying to make one but failing.

I forgot to add: I would not advise to add him to the game, because then you have to rebuild the hero framework and it will become incompatible with any other hero mod like the popular unlocker.

It's a choice between replacing Wyngaal or making an all-new hero ID. I'd go with the latter, since I hate replacing anything when it can be avoided.

Look to my earlier post, why would you need to replace wyngaal if there is a tieru in the game, you only need to modify tieru himself with the new portrait and model

Because there isn't already a Tieru in the game! Look at my edited post directly below the one you're referring to, the part I addressed to you.

All right I didn't know mapmakers used him that way, but tieru has a unique xdb file in the mapobjects folder and sfidanza added him to the framework with the campaign hero unlocker. So my advise is to simply modify the xdb file from tieru and use him together with the campaign hero unlocker. Otherwise you have to create a seperate mod for tieru only, and people interested in adding more heroes to the game will definately prefer the campaign hero unlocker more then tieru standalone.

No he does not. That's my point. Check it for yourself in data.pak\MapObjects\Preserve.

For testing mods in the map editor you can also put the files loose in the data folder: HoMM install/data/bin/... and so on.

Sorry my mistake, I have been working with a tieru.xdb for so long I didn't even know it has never been in the game. Then I advise to extract the tieru.xdb from the campaign hero unlocker from sfidanza.
Then you modify and repack it. When the file date is more recent it can be used together with the unlocker mod.

Thanks for the advice, I've been trying to add a brand new hero for a while to no avail. Studying Sfidanza's mod should shed a little light on things.
EDIT: Yes, as I suspected Sfidanza added Tieru in as an all-new hero. If we carry over this process to the "Unique Heroes mod" we could even include Sareth, Kunyak, Temkhan and other special heroes who aren't really properly in the game.

Yes, that's the project I'm working on right now, I have already created a framework with all betas and dark messiah characters added.
It's only a hell of a job to get all descriptions and specializations right, because I'm also trying to create a balanced edition with more variation in specializations.
