It's supposed to become way awesomer after the first 2 episodes actually, least from what I've read.
But you don't like Macross mecha so what do you know anyway?!

So I'm having a cold and no real will to do anything at all so I might as well go back and watch some of the series I never finished...
I'm planning to start with Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, which I thought was quite funny...even though I only watched the first 7-8 episodes.
It doesn't seem to have a "story" so to say, so I don't expect it to be much different later.
Oh, and the opening songs are pretty nice too.

I judge all anime based on how good their opening songs are really 
*finishes watching Eureka Seven ep. 1*
Well it wasn't that bad, will be watching this when I have time. Mecha designs are so so but I imagine the maneuverability in the battle sequences will make up for it.
Still... it's car that transforms into a robot that rides a rocket-powered skateboard. A bit sceptic.
I like how the main character is actually honest to himself about finding the girl supa-hot... don't see that a lot in anime, mostly like "OMG I'D NEVER HAVE DIRTY FEELINGS I AM PURE VIRGIN KNIGHT" heh...

Really? Cuz from what I've read it has generally favourable reviews.
Nice that I found something myself instead of just listening to ya recommendations all the time
Finished all the Deadman Wonderland chapters btw... I thought it was finished but noooo...! Hope it doesn't turn out like Naruto/Bleach and become endless or something... can't handle waiting for chapters all the time.
I agree that the mangaka spoiled things too early btw.

Most reviews I've seen from Eureka Seven are seven indeed. Just generic stuff they say.
Would have been a nice spot to finish indeed. though I kinda want to see ganta disemboweled.

Naruto seems to be slowly ending, Bleach is... wtf, DIE ALREADY!, Berserk got all fancy and stuff, at least One Piece is still awesome and about only half-way through. Fills me heart with joy 
Also, Bakuman is awesome beyond limits - every chapter feels so full of everything (in a good way)

Eureka Seven is awesome... it's like it just catapulted into awesomeness by the third episode. First two were kinda meh but then... hell yeah.
It's really quite hilarious too, nice humour
EDIT:

Hmm... I can say that until episode 12, there was little more than character development in this anime. Things really went kinda slow... after that the story gets deeper though.
Also... the 2nd opening is among the better I have ever seen. Awesomely catchy song, not the regular animeish kind either
It's not total angst mecha drama either... it focuses more on the happy moments YAY HAPPINESS!
I was sceptic towards the mecha designs at first, but somewhere along the way I just accepted that robots on supa-speed air-wakeboards are like, totally awesome.
I REALLY like this anime. One of my instant favourites.

I bet you'd enjoy her Joonas, complete psycho. Too bad she gets so little screentime.
Kinda limited vocabulary though... enjoys saying "DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE...!!!" ^^

Seen that opening, not a fan of hiphop but it's delightfully different.
Oh yeah, love the pink haired chick, she's looking lovely right there in the opening. And the last two faces in the pic you posted? Yummm...
Too bad characters I love always get too little screen time. 
I've always liked Eureka art but haven't gotten to the series since I've heard it's pretty much average. That and it has an annoying shounen as a main character.
Watched Mnemosyne myself. Recommended if you can take intelligent anime with hour episodes and a weak last ep. Otherwise excellent. Just lovely.
A single line to represent the greatness:
"How much must I kill you till you die?"

He gets a bit more mature as the series go on I guess, and he does go through quite an amount of character development. Mostly about realizing just how much of an annoying shounen kid he is actually ^^
I absolutely love this anime. It took ages for the story to really get going but once it did it paid off. I'm a bit peculiar in my taste though, often like stuff that others don't so I dunno if it would work for ya
Only bad thing so far is that the raw I'm watching got a clock in the left corner... Eureka aired at 7 AM in Japan and apparently there's a law saying you have to have a clock so people know when to go to work... I've learned to ignore it though.
Dunno about the dub, watch it in japanese myself.

Holy **** that design is sexy... apparently Alto's new wings in Wings of Farewell... this may be the sexiest mecha I've ever seen. I love how they've integrated the previous Tornado Cannons on the back into the fighter itself and how it folds out into a moving turret in mech-mode.
Mmm... I wonder how it'll look with an Armored Pack on it... argh give me a fansub already!
Yes I'm the only Macross fan around. I'm just venting my mecha-love.

Wanna fight? 
Too major changes screw up the very smooth transition from fighter-mode to battroid-mode, which is what makes Valkyries truly awesome.
As a fan I appreciate the subtle differences in the design. They've gone a long way in perfecting the design since the first Valkyrie.

That's cool and all, that Union Flag thingy looks a lot better in Jet form than Saviour did at least.
Still, I wouldn't exactly call that a feasible fighter design. Aero-dynamics would rape it, 'lest it's used for space combat.
