Any strategies - combat, adventure, building...
Before I joined this forum, I thought I was pretty good at Heroes. Soon as I joined, I was in for an extremely rude awakening. Everyone here knows about stuff like chaining which I've never even heard of. I feel completely lost. PLease help me - if you could just post ANY strategy I'd be very grateful. No matter how newbish it seems; because I'm probably one of the newbishest newbs around here. So please dont laugh at me lol

there are already so many nice strategy posts here
all waiting to be read
i just noticed that Angelito has taken the trouble of sumarising most of them in the new table of contents
if you played this game so long in single player mode or with your friends in a hotseat or LAN network, maybe its time to step up to the next level and start playing it online.
most of the tips here are for online gaming, wich is somewhat different to perhaps what you are used to.
GL and se you in the world of online heroes 3 soon

I almost avoid this forum so that I can live on in my dream where I am King and Heroes-Master.

ElectricBunny, I'm in the same boat as you. I think the things I've best learned here is that building towards creatures instead of gold right away is usually better. By that same token, attacking things like Crypts as soon as you can (even day one) is profitable. Finally, I've learned how to separate troops for fodder purposes. For example, with a starting week's compliment of Elves and Centaurs, you can have a stack of each, but fill the remaining slots with just one Centaur each. Doing so means that when you attack a Medusa Stores for example, the individual Centaurs can "block" the archer Medusas and make for less casualties. It also works well on overland battles as the fast Centaur fodder can engage the enemy at a distance that the Elves can still shoot down, but not be at risk of being blocked themselves.
My most recent lesson is the Ballista. I've considered it to be garbage. however, I've learned that Gerwulf with a single Serpent Fly for example can eliminate most random monsters that block mines and small resources by himself. Kind of like the Luna "trick" I published once upon a time.
