Fire Emblem DS
Okay, now i'm excited. I was Neoseeking Fire Emblem when I saw that there exists a Fire Emblem DS thats set to release this year in Japan (any Japanese member, please read). Judging from the screenies, it looks to be amazing. I know that it will be coming to US sometime, but I'm not sure when. Exciting?!

I wouldn't mind playing it, I enjoyed the first GBA one but that's the only one I've played.

The only FE I've played is The Sacred Stones, and it has gameplay that genuinely appeals to me. When I saw "Fire Emblem DS" it made me flip.

Yea I have it. It's an excellent game. If you have a wii, you should definatly get it. There are quite a few animated cut-scenes too which adds aweseomeness to an already very good game.

Weren't there 2 FE-s for GBA? I remember playing 2 of them. It was a good game tho i still prefer advance wars, mostly due to better multiplayer. i Would recomend you get the other one for GBA (the one that is not "sacred stones")
Here is a SS, it looks exactly like sacred stones but is not the same game:

Yea, I'm pretty sure that there were 2 for gba. One was Sacred Stones, but I forget what the other one was called.

Yep, already got a copy. Preordered it. So far it is pretty good, but I am a fan of the Fire Emblem series. Think for the DS there are two (maybe 3?) that you can play not counting this one. Fire Emblem, and Fire Emblem Sacred Stones.
Since I get little chance to play will be a long time before I can beat it

Define Animated . They have cutscenes (both before and after), but I always have the volume off .. will have to get back to you about the voiceovers. If you mean animated like say the movies ASH made, then no.
As for the gameplay, all I can say is I like it. Some of its aspects are like rock, paper, scissors but it can be very fun. I will try (note I am not a professional reviewer) to explain the gameplay.
We will focus first on weapons. They have so many uses before they are destroyed (except a select few) and no way to repair them. So bringing extra is always a good idea. Even the magic 'tomes' which allows mages and such to use magic are used up, as are healing staves. If you can use it in battle and it is not a special item..it will eventually be destroyed.
There is the weapon triangle. Swords beat axes, Axes beat Lances, lances beat swords (or something like that). If you use a weapon that beats another you get bonuses to hit and damage. Also .. Flying units are strong vs magic, but Arrows just ruin their day.
To make things more complicated there are special weapons that are deadly against certain classes. Like Hammers vs 'Generals'..they can even change the weapon triangle. They are sort of rare, thus valuable when you can get them.
There are people who you can recruit that start out your enemy..if you have the right person talk to them BEFORE they attack you or you attack them.
Oh and one of the new things in the new one is that you can change people's 'jobs' before battle. So if you need a ton of archers and are short you can change a bunch to archers. However...there are limits to who can change to what. (It is very complicated..not going into that mess).
There is also a 'freelancer' which in a way is a nasty class. They can temporarily become any class that happens to be near them..of course you have to give them the proper weapons..so...
That is where the 'convoy' comes in. If your main character is near somebody they can retrieve or store items in the convoy. So keep a freelancer near him so they can get the proper equipment.
Ok that is enough chaos for now.
Oh, and as for challenge, it has various settings. Normal and up to 5 (it claims) hard modes each tougher then the last. So it should be able to challenge you.
Since there is a special class that you can only unlock online (once your pegasi reaches the level to upgrade you can unlock it that is) it must have some things online at least

Well, from what Mytical said, it doesn't seem like they changed the game much. And the storyline is suppose to be the same as Fire Emblem 1 + 3 (+ 5?). Not excepting to much of the new from Fire Emblem 11, but... ONLINE PLAY!!!

so it does have multiplayer and the levels are challenging...
thanks for the info. i think i'm going with this game. kirby would've been fun but this game probably will last me longer.
i hope the campaign isn't as difficult as advance wars days of ruin's though. that was a brutal campaign.

@Mamga - There's another thing: The Fire Emblem series all have a great amount of addicitive power so replay is great.
Hopefully, its exactly what i'm hoping for...

As per usual there are some secret chapters to be found. Now I won't put any spoilers here, but they can be challenging to get to. Each secret has its own reward, you just have to figure if it is worth getting to the secret or not ....

Yes they are addictive. The one thing I dislike about shadow dragon is lack of the 'rescue' option. In previous titles you could pick up units with calvary (or flying units) and take them somewhere to drop them off. Shadow Dragon lacks that option.
