Modding help

I am wondering how simple/hard it is to change the creatures tiers and if anyone could help me on how to do it or direct me to a tutorial of somesort.

I was also wanting to know about switching creatures to different factions, for example, changing the Sylvan Green dragons to the Firebird family.

Read Modders Wiki it has many usefull basic info about modding

There is tier number in every *creature*.xdb file just make the right pre-folders for the file/s and change the value witch one you like. You can also swamp creatures to other town by changing the names of the files and then changin the actual filesto correct sponding files. Remember to free the original creature from it's tier rank to make the change possible, creature swamping basically.

EDIT: Oh yeah when you change creatures towns be sure to change their aligment as well

Right I've tried to understand that guide but I find it really complex and hard to do, (yeah I am aware of how retarded I must sound) but I'm not really good at stuff like this.

Maybe if someone could tell me how to go about doing the mods I want or possibly make a mod for me to use...

1. Swap the tiers for the Dungeon Matron and Hydra families (I know this has been done but the link is no longer working) and also balance the stats as not to have them over/underpowered for their tiers.

2. I've seen a German mod of the Sylvan Dragons to Firebird mod, but I was wondering if anyone had translated it cause I myself cannot speak German very well.

By the way I'm playing TOTE just incase that changes anything...

Thanks in advance.

I swapped the balor and the pit spaw. if I remember well, you only have to swap the contents of the main xdb files (the statistics)
(why? it makes archdevil summon pit spawns instead of balors)

you'll have to change the stats too, but it isn't hard, is it?

Well I've had a go but I find the whole editing thing really difficult. Probably just me finding it more complicated then it has to be.

The Basics of Unit Modding

1.  Download WinRar here.

2.  Install WinRar.  Open WinRar.  Click File.  Click Open Archive.  Navigate to C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\data.  Open data.pak.

3.  Open the GameMechanics folder.  Open the Creature folder within.  Open the Creatures folder within this one.

4.  There's the list of factions.  The .xdb files controlling all units are within those folders.  This is where we stop until you let me know which stats, spells etc you want for each creature you want to mod.

I'd write more, but I can't help much further without some more info.
