Now then. Time to coax out the truth from the prank.
According to rumors, it IS being created. Darned if I know the release date though. Most of the other stuff I posted was wild (and hopeful) speculation on what Opal will have (sans the 4 berries; that was admittedly a corny thought). 
So, now that I cleared that up...
We can now use this thread to discuss what we would like Pokémon Opal to be like.
I already posted some ideas in the main post. (convincing, wasn't it? ) I'll start off the thought train.
Personally, I don't retract anything that I said about the Nexii. I think it'd be neat to find them like that. Of course, if you can believe the rumors (which point towards Giratina being on the cover), then you would assume that Giratina is going to play a greater part in the plot of Opal.

Ruby/Sapphire had you catching the "weather" legendaries.
Emerald has you catching the Pokémon that pacified them in ages past (Rayquaza).
you can capture rayquaza in ruby and sapphire to you know.

yeah but rayquaza was main focus in emerald...
oh yeah according to sources the third 4th gen game is announced on the japanese pokemon website...(so i hear) it is called platinum.

So have I.
It looks legit this time. I hope it's not some delayed April Fool's Joke on their part. 
I have Pearl already though, so I'll have to think about it.
And, they need to increase the battle tempo...a lot! Fighting in the rain (to take an extreme example) is just insane. The turns take over 40-50 seconds. 
Also they screwed up some of the Pokémon pre-battle cries. Take Electrike for example. It takes like 6-8 seconds for the battle to start because the game is waiting on that Pokémon to finish its cry.
If they can fix those two things, I'll be satisfied.
Anything else on top of that is a bonus.

I've been purposely putting off buying Diamond and/or Pearl until the inevitable third game. Of course it probably won't come out here until the year AFTER it comes out in Japan...

But yeah...I wish it'd come out sooner.

Anyways, it's funny that Nintendo is releasing Darkrai at Events May 31st and June 1st...I probably won't bother to go!
(The day I want to get the event-only legendaries, I'll probably hack for them. Sad, but true. )
(I am flattered that a Nintendo Event is being held here in Puerto Rico...but still! )

pokemon is awesome
i still play the old ones like leaf green
the only thing is they still have THE EXACT SAME SOUNDS
also the battles still havent changed from the first ones and the graphics could be better
i mean the only thing in 3d are houses
its kind of obvious its fake because the link doesnt work
