22 GREAT WISHES :D
My ideas:
1. Real time battles. Something like Medieval 2 or RTS without buildings and economy, just units. Heroes will fight in battle, cast spells and wil die. If they died and army wins battle, the hero has 25% to resurrect after the battle, 63% appear in army as grave arifact, 2% to "real death" where hero is lost forever and 10% to hero escapes from attlefield and is available to buy at tavern. If army lost battle 25% of resurrection goes to give his grave as artifact to enemies' army.
2. 8 or 10 factions, generally same as h3 and h5 but I think for example make griffins not haven creatures, or make dendroids evil, change some creatures' levels and some another changes. I will want to see more than 1 "elven" creature and make elemntal fantasy races (elves, humans, dwarves, orcs) have more than 1 creature in the game and not make too much creatures like all-colours dragons. My ideas for factions:
-humans, angels, etc
-elves and another wooden guys, also halflings
-dwarves and mammoth' riders with GIANTS, Maybe
-night elves and evil humans, maybe one creature as an "evil dwarf" and goblins
-undead
-hell and demons
-deser fraction with mages, nomads, sphinx, etc.
-orcs and another green ugly creatures
-something like h3 dungeon with lizards
-lost civilistion of unknown human race from countries beyond great sea sea fraction with mermaids, pirates, nagas, sea monsters etc.
3. No upgraded creatures, just 10 12 creatures in every town and many neutral creatures.
4. Much more objects on adventure map with micellanous abilities. Not just mines, creatures dwellings and banks, and objects that increase your hero's skills.
5. Many options in main menu, like wogification options. I'm sure that Ubisoft will not be inspired by fans' add-on but I love WoG options.
6. Easy and powerful sripts sytem, like ERM. Mapmaker with many options and maybe a creature-model and texture making tool (just a dream )
7. Storyline from times of Homm3 or another original storyline after Dark Messiah
8. Soundtrack like H4 Or H3
9. Many h4 options (caravans, armies walking without heroes) Don't say liking homm4 is a heresy
10. My new idea: technologies. You will invent something for REALLY MUCH resources, maybe guns like in warcraft 3, cannons, crossbows, catapults etc. You 'll have to wait some turnsbefore something will be invented.
11. Changes in towns' buildings: now town gives you gold for population, which will increase with time and decrease when town is sieged. 10 levels fortress, 5 level city hall, and a 3 level building that lets you invent something, also a caravan. Levels of city halls will need a number of population, other buildings too, and for example, city hall increases your gold from town by 10% and capitol 30%. Also enable destroying cities like Wog. Caravan needs to be build and shipyard is availalbe at all towns.
12. Spells levels like H4 (why the **** bless was level 1 in h3 )
13. Much bigger maps and enable weather effects(trees change colour in autumn, some terrain is changing into snow in winter)
14. Another resources sytem. I think about:
-food, you get it from a filed 10/day, maybe also avilable in cities.
-stones, instead of ore, needed to bulid
-wood, same as before
-crystals, fused together in mines
-metal, needed to some bulidings and creatures instead of Hg and S
-(I don't have name, but something magical, that allows you to "discover" spells at mage guild, spells wont appear after bulding a guild)
-gold - neede for everything
-maybe Mithril like WoG?
I'd like to see more mines for every kind of resource, not trres underground...
15. New creatures' levels.
Each town has 10 (or 12 in my new concept) creatures, but only in 6 levels. For example, Castle
lvl 1. - peasants, militians
lvl 2. - pikemans, archers, scouts (light cavalry)
lvl 3. - crossbowmans, swordsmans, mercenaries
lvl 4. - infant knights, priests
lvl 5. - heavy cavalry
lvl 6. - angels
2 1st lvl creatures, 3 2nd lvl, 3 3rd lvl, 2 4th lvl, 1 5th lvl, 1 6th lvl, so:
2*1+3*2+3*3+2*4+1*5+1*6=36
12 creeatures in all cities. Level of all creatures in city - 36. Also possible to for example 4 1st lvl, 2 2nd lvl. 1 3rd lvl 2 4th lvl. 1 5th lvl. 2 6th lvl. where number of creatures is also 12 and level of all - 36 (if I can count )
16. Some more about creatures:
-undead not only in necropolis, for example mummies with mages.
-neutral animals, available to recruit at one dwelling (maybe called ZOO )
-cats, -1 to enemy's luck (if theyre black) and very weak
-snakes, cast posion while attacking
-eagles, like Rogues in Homm3 give you number of enemies' cratures
-elephants, high defence
-lions, maximum morale to all animals in army
-tigers, no retaliation
-wolves
-snow wolves
-bears, +1 morale
-spiders, high attack, no deffence
-scorpinons, same as above + poison
-panteras, invinsible in hero's army
-frogs, when a Lady casts "Kiss" on them they change into a Knight
17. I see you dont like idea of RTS battles, so I think about:
-hexes like in Homm3
-some creatures take 2 hexes, some take 3 adn some one of course
-battle field is 9times bigger to increase the time of battle
-many war machines avilable (I mean for example 2 balistas)
-strength of walls depends on level of fortresss
-creatures attack in the same time like in H4 to get bigger balance and not make group haste or group slow best spell in the game
-creatures dont look only left and right
-sieges like in h5 and invent something that increases dmg of towers
18. Multiplayer that llows you to easy find a player with option of searching
19. Movies in campaigns
20. WOG influences. Object like "Emerald Tower" in WoG that for big price allows you to change all creatures' stats. Units experience. No commanders, cause heroes will fight in battles.
21. Neutral creatures that didnt appear in Homm series or in Homm5:
-sea monster
-werewolf
-venom spawn
-cobolds
-sphinx
-medusa
-satirs
-halflings
-leprechauns
-pegasus
-behemoth
-troll
-something like ninja
-monster hunters, something like Witcher I'm polish and I love The Witcher Saga
22. Four hero classes per city, because 8 hero classses in h5 was disappointing. one class might, one magic, one archer/magic which is different race than other heroes and one "economical" and each has its special abilities My ideas:
haven/caste: Knight, Paladin(half-angel), Priest, Noble
Silvan: Druid, Hunter, Archer, Forest Guard (dendroid) (he's an ecologist )
desert mages' city: Mage, Rajah (djinn), Caravaner, Nomad
night elves: sorcerer, Thief (goblin), Murderer, Ninja
Necro: Death King, Necromancer, Lich Mage, Dark Earl (hald-dead human)
Inferno: Summoner, Demonlord, Hell Advisor, Heretic (human)
Dwarven fortress: Runemaker, Axethrower, Miner, Warrior (a yeti)
Stronghold: Barbarian, Shaman, Tribechief, Sovereign (centaur)
Water or Haven: Sailor, Pirate, Hypnotist (Mermaid), no idea
Lizard fraction: Beasthunter, Witch, Sharpshooter, Banana Dealer (still no idea )
AND MUCH MORE.......

That sounds like a very interesting idea. I would love to see that. The weather visual effects can be combined also with weather tactical effects. This thread gives some examples.
The rest of your suggestions are either taking options from other games are brining back old versions of HOMM, while we're looking here for original ideas of people, that we haven't seen.

You can't imagine, what a strong video card a player would need, because this effect would cost a lot.
Points on I agree:
2. Of course! The more town is in HOMM, the more colourful will be the game. Anyway, it is good to choose from more towns. Maybe Nival will invent something new again like they did in HOMM V with the dark elves...
4. (see above)
8. I love the HOMM series' soundtracks! I love listening to them!
Points on I don't agree:
1. No real time. HOMM is good as it is now with turns and everything...
3. Upgrades at all costs! Maybe if you combine your idea with HOMM 2...
10. I'm not really supporting this idea. Maybe you can read some reasons from other players, too here
(12. What is the difference between HOMM 3's and HOMM 5's spells level?)
Points on I can't decide:
(The rest)

I would start with 9 or 10 towns basically
Humans and Angels
Elves, Unicorns and Dendroids
Undead and sort
Demons, Succubi and Devils
Dark-Elves, Dungeons and Dragons
Barbarians, Orcs, Orges, etc
Half-Elf Renegades, Pegasi and Griffins (A town I created myself)
The Mages, Their constructs and the Halflings
The Lizards, Basilisks and Harpies
The Dwarves, with Dragon Golems and Rift Worms
Maybe for the expansion pack: Nagas, Faceless, Insectoïds, Highmen, Feline, Animalistics, Outlaws, Elementals,... and maybe other ICTC ideas ?
Creating many towns and units is easy, but making them differ from others is the thougher side of the cake...

Quote: My ideas:
1. Real time battles.
I disagree with everything from this section.
Quote: 2. 8 or 10 factions,
Yes. 10+ please.
Reactions to your factions.
-humans, angels, etc Nah, humans and chicken peoples!! jk, I think Humans + Angels is a constant.
-elves and another wooden guys, also halflings Yes, but no halflings please. They are peaceful peeps, let's not make them warriors.
-dwarves and mammoth' riders with GIANTS Oh YES!
-night elves and evil humans, maybe one creature as an "evil dwarf" Yes to the Night Elves, no to the Evil Humans (perhaps 1 campaign hero) and no Evil Dwarf.
-undead -hell and demons YES!
-deser fraction with mages, nomads, sphinx, etc. I agree here, the Mage's flying cities should be more nomadic (for one reason or another) and Sphinxes would be an awesome creature. I'd like the Wizards to go on a killing spree, blasting everything on the ground with their sky cities. That would pwn.
-orcs and another green ugly creatures Yes to the Orcs, no to the Green, no to the Ugly, the Shaman is awesome, and there is a strange beauty to the creatures.
-something like h3 dungeon with lizards Okay. Dark Elves here, perhaps, or Minos?
-lost civilistion of unknown human race from countries beyond great sea No, fail. No "They came from across the Sea" stories unless we get a full backstory campaign/game/movie/book(s) which knowing Nival we won't.
Where are your Nagas?
Quote: 3. No upgraded creatures, just 10 creatures in every town and many neutral creatures.
No.

Yes to the Caravans, no to the Heroless armies, yes, liking HIV is not Heresy, it is Blasphemy. In at least five religeons.
Quote: 10. My new idea: technologies. You will invent something for REALLY MUCH resources, maybe guns like in warcraft 3, cannons, crossbows, catapults etc. You 'll have to wait some turnsbefore something will be invented.
Yes to the idea, no to the guns, yes to the cannons, we have catapults.
Quote: 11. Changes in towns' buildings:
Agree with all here.

Yes.
Quote: Nagas, Faceless, Insectoïds, Highmen, Feline, Animalistics, Outlaws, Elementals
Yes to the Nagas, Faceless in Dungeon, Insectoids should be one or two creatures in the Animalistics group that also includes felines. Outlaws can't really have a faction, but can have a microfaction. Elementals yes.

Agreed

Not really bothered, only for serious fans.

Storyline I don't know about, heroes certainly.
Quote: 8. Soundtrack like H4
Haven't heard the H4 soundtrack, so no comment.

I fail to see what you're getting at, and bless is at level 1 in H4 as well.

Bigger maps maybe, but let's leave out weather.

I think The normal pettern of some units must be broken
IMHO the four Elementals will join a faction, the one that represent their school of magic (Wizards=air, Lizards=Water, Demons= Fire, Dark-Elves=Earth)
The the Fire elemental would evole in a efreet
Haflings join the wizards, while the Gremlins retreat to the Swamps
Griffins join either Half-Elves or Nagas
Nightmares and Dark Elves join again
Dragons are only found in the Three Elven towns (and in the Necropolis as a Bonedragon)
Zombies evolve into mummies
Dwarves have Gunpowder units and Blacksmiths (a cross between Master Gremlin and Minotaur Guard)
Lizardmen are spellcasters, not archers
Harpies join the Swamps, as do the Paokai
Four kinds of Giants come... Dwaves have the Jotunn, Barbarians have the Gargartuan and the Behemoth. Wizard have the Titan
Rakshasa join an animal faction, and are replaced by Sphinxes (or their are turned round). If A naga faction isn't created, The NAGA join the wizards and Either Rakshasa or Sphinx move to animalistc faction, whiel the other is neutral
The Eight level cr are 1.5 lvl 7 upg's , but can't be upgraded.
Gnomes either join a faction (Dark Elves, Wizards or High Elves) or are neutral
Dungeon has two Scoutlike cr: A bandit/pirate and a Spy/Assassin/Ninja. The Scout is the unupgraded form of the Sharpshooter (a Sylvan cr)
To Feenor: Not tech, no weather, Upgrades are a must, more factions (at least 9, with expasion, at least 12), Storyline like h5, music as a mix of Heroes II, III, and IV, depending on faction, Real time battles should be OPTIONAL, TBS must reign
YES to all else you suggested

Cant, heroes 4 tells that the heroes 3 world had been destroyed from some artifact clash.
It would be good if they went back to the destroyed world, and seek for the blade of whatwhatwhat and the other blade that caused the clash, and the old world is under the control of demon, undead and other evil creatures

Yes, but I thought about storyline in the times of H3, before H4 and H5, before Erathia was destroyed.

No it wouldn't. If games can do rain effects and day to night transitions, then they could do a weather system. In fact, there have been games which have done that successfully (weather effects system) and including the day and night.
Even the game Dark Colony pulled off the Day and Night transition fairly well, and even games on the NES and SNES did it too. So a Weather system isn't totally out of the question, nor would it require a very strong video card.

Quote: 14. Another resources sytem.
I like the one we have now, it is good. Perhaps adding food and/or a racial recource, something that would be different for every race, but keeping the core 7.

You lost me.
Quote: 16. Some more about creatures:
-undead not only in necropolis, for example mummies with mages.
-neutral animals, available to recruit at one dwelling (maybe called ZOO )
The concept of moving the Undead around is sortof interesting I guess...and I'm not sure about the Animals. I think this has been discussed, and generally people did not like it. From factions is one thing, but only very low level creatures would really wory about Bears and Lions and Snakes (and...frogs...)
Quote: 17. I see you dont like idea of RTS battles, so I think about:
-hexes like in Homm3
-battle field is 9times bigger to increase the time of battle
Yes to the First, NO! to the second. Having bigger battlefields might be interesting, but 9 times is a complete waste. Shooters would be totally imba, and champions would take 4 or 5 turns to reach the enemy. Something wrong there.
Quote: 19. Movies in campaigns
And I am unanimous in that as well!
Quote: 20. WOG influences. Object like "Emerald Tower" in WoG that for big price allows you to change all creatures' stats. Units experience. No commanders, cause heroes will fight in battles.
No to the First (tower), Yes to the Second, No heroes in combat.
Quote: 21. Neutral creatures that didnt appear in Homm series or in Homm5:
-sea monster = Yes, but not the thing from HIV, that was just...no.
-werewolf = YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-venom spawn = Meh, no real need.
-cobolds = Could be fun, but perhaps with the dwarves?
-sphinx = Yes!
-medusa = Yes!
-satirs = Mabey. I see them in with the Elves.
-halflings = No.
-leprechauns = NO.
-pegasus = No.
-behemoth = Yes.
-troll = Yes, with the Dwarves or the Orcs.
-something like ninja = No, we have that in the Dungeon.
-monster hunters, something like Witcher = Uh, do you mean Haven?
22. Four hero classes per city, because 8 hero classses in h5 was disappointing. one class might, one magic, one archer/magic which is different race than other heroes and one "economical" and each has its special abilities My ideas:

Necro: Death King, Necromancer, Lich Mage, Dark Earl (hald-dead human)
Inferno: Summoner, Demonlord, Hell Advisor, Heretic (human)
Dwarven fortress: Runemaker, Axethrower, Miner, Warrior (a yeti)
Stronghold: Barbarian, Shaman, Tribechief, Sovereign (centaur)
Water or Haven: Sailor, Pirate, Hypnotist (Mermaid), no idea
Lizard fraction: Beasthunter, Witch, Sharpshooter, Banana Dealer (still no idea )
This idea is interesting. At first I was like "Do you understand the concept of Races that they are pushing?" but I like the ideas here. A half Angel (not sure how that would work since they have no parts, perhaps more Angelblessed?) is good.
-Rajah, Earl, Centaur are good.
-I think the Theif could be in with the Stronghold, or perhaps a Satyr?
-Heretics no.
-Yetis are not so good...
-Mermaids perhaps, but I think there is more doable there.
-Banana dealer = Fail.
About the Dendroid person: What about some sortof Grove Guardian like from Warcraft (please don't shoot me) they are so pretty!!!

Could you explain this a little further please?
Quote: 16. Some more about creatures:
-undead not only in necropolis, for example mummies with mages.
-neutral animals, available to recruit at one dwelling (maybe called ZOO )
-cats, -1 to enemy's luck (if theyre black) and very weak
-snakes, cast posion while attacking
-eagles, like Rogues in Homm3 give you number of enemies' cratures
-elephants, high defence
-lions, maximum morale to all animals in army
-tigers, no retaliation
-wolves
-snow wolves
-bears, +1 morale
-spiders, high attack, no deffence
-scorpinons, same as above + poison
-panteras, invinsible in hero's army
-frogs, when a Lady casts "Kiss" on them they change into a Knight
Only where they're appropriate (ie. I stuck rhinos and elephants with nagas, wolves with Stronghold, and lions with an egyptian styled faction)
Quote: 17.
The first two go together, and while I like the odea, I think it's unlikely to happen. Third idea woul improve things, and allower bigger speed discrepancies than currently. I don't know about multiple siege engines, maybe stack them like WoG did. I think the strenght of the walls already does depend on the level of the fortress. I don't understand what you're getting at about the simultaneous attacks thing. I wouldn't mind more orientations for the battlefield, but that could come with rotating the battlefield. How are sieges run in H5, same as in H3?
18. Multiplayer that llows you to easy find a player with option of searching
What exactly are you getting at here?
Quote: 19. Movies in campaigns
At the beginning and end of each scenario anyway, but not in the middle.
Quote: 20. WOG influences. Object like "Emerald Tower" in WoG that for big price allows you to change all creatures' stats. Units experience. No commanders, cause heroes will fight in battles.
Some of the WoG stuff was good, like the Summoning Stones and School of Wizardry, but this wasn't one of my favourites.
Quote: 21. Neutral creatures that didnt appear in Homm series or in Homm5:
-sea monster
-werewolf
-venom spawn
-cobolds
-sphinx
-medusa
-satirs
-halflings
-leprechauns
-pegasus
-behemoth
-troll
-something like ninja
-monster hunters, something like Witcher I'm polish and I love The Witcher Saga
No, maybe, no, what the heck is that, maybe, yes (Dungeon), maybe (Sylvan), maybe, maybe (Sylvan), yes (Sylvan), yes (Stronghold), yes (Dungeon), maybe, you got an image of that?
How about:
Cipactli
Ammut
Peryton
Qilin
Catoblepas
etc.
Quote: 22. Four hero classes per city, because 8 hero classses in h5 was disappointing. one class might, one magic, one archer/magic which is different race than other heroes and one "economical" and each has its special abilities My ideas:
haven/caste: Knight, Paladin(half-angel), Priest, Noble
Silvan: Druid, Hunter, Archer, Forest Guard (dendroid) (he's an ecologist )
desert mages' city: Mage, Rajah (djinn), Caravaner, Nomad
night elves: sorcerer, Thief (goblin), Murderer, Ninja
Necro: Death King, Necromancer, Lich Mage, Dark Earl (hald-dead human)
Inferno: Summoner, Demonlord, Hell Advisor, Heretic (human)
Dwarven fortress: Runemaker, Axethrower, Miner, Warrior (a yeti)
Stronghold: Barbarian, Shaman, Tribechief, Sovereign (centaur)
Water or Haven: Sailor, Pirate, Hypnotist (Mermaid), no idea
Lizard fraction: Beasthunter, Witch, Sharpshooter, Banana Dealer (still no idea )
No, two heroes per city at best, 1 might, 1 magic (although Stronghold would likely only get 1).

Quote: No it wouldn't.
Agreed. If we're talking about a 2D game like HoMM1-4, then all that is needed is sprite replacements, which - depending on the machine and the requirements of the rest of the game - would cause no more than minor hiccups whenever such a change appeared globally. Of course, for additional realism, this wouldn't really be global most of the time, as usually we'd have the rainclouds travel accross the map, covering relatively small parts at a time.
3D games would be more of a problem, but the GTA series proves that it is in fact doable if you jump through a few hoops like only rendering what's visible at the moment. Sure, this'll be somewhat harder for a game with a top down view where much more is visible, but it's still not impossible.

couldn't they still do it with sprites? Have a lot of invisible planes running through the map with animations of rain coming down?
