Level 4 creature before Level 3 creature

According to the Castle's techtree Castle's Level 3 dwelling called Griffin Tower can be built before the player have built Barracks (Castle's Level 4 dwelling). So, in my opinion should Griffins be stronger than Swordsmens (like in HOMM5) but i don't know

I worked and changed the method like in Heroes IV...you can check Building requirements script and level 7 requires all previous...you cannot build anymore level 4 before 3 and so on...

Sadly, the script is for 3.59

I believe that being able to get to a higher level creature before you get all before it is a great way of advantaging a certain castle. For example the Barbarian has only Mage Guild Level 3 and other disadvantages, but the fast Behemoth is excellent for balance.

This is all part of the charm of Heroes 3 and should not be changed. Same for the Swordsmen / Griffins stuff. You know why our Solar System is so nice? Because it's diverse. For example Venus rotates counter clockwise on its axis. Weird things like this are everywhere. I think the little "Castle contradiction" is excellent for the diversity of Heroes 3 and I would not change it.

Those are my 2 cents anyway. Now... back to my map creation ::- D.

I changed all the requirements in my optional script and worked very hard to a "Wog Balance" script...so, is alternative way and will be for 3.59.

How did you do the WoG Balance? I find a balance script a nice thing. Even though I believe that Heroes 3 is very well balanced, I do think the Stack Experience thing further complicates the issue.

I'm interested in how you worked at balancing the game. I might be able to help at that when I release the Map Debug Assistant later this month. It'll help you see how a faction evolves in longer periods of time (12 months) without you pressing a single "end turn" button ::- ).

"Wog Balance" Script has several changes:

- speed of the units is lower and maximum 10 from start, but level 8 units can have maximum 16 speed without banner or spells or tactics;
- every creature has new stats and every town has the same;
- ** New Formula for movement is based on hero's level including AI (22 movement from start +1 movement at every 3 levels); this part is already included and posted on this forum

1. To build last dwelling requires level 1-level 6; this is already created aka script and hard-coded;

2. Use of all resources in the game; Level 1 requires only gold, level 2 ore or wood, level 3 ore and wood, level 4 wood, ore and main resource of that town(for instance: gems for castle), level 5 requires ore, wood, gems and other resource from a friendly town(crystal for castle because is with tower and rampart), level 6 requires ore, wood, gems, other resource from a friendly town and one from a neutral town(fortress, stronghold or conflux), level 6 requires all types of resources.; already created home;

3. The Stats for all towns are new..in my vision, all towns have good stats and if are difference are small-medium.

4. Every race can improve spells after hero's level and spell power(for instance: Evil Towns can improve curse(this spell will reduce damage and health by 1% of hero's level);

5. Castle will have main spell water and second air, Rampart will have water and second earth, Tower will have main air and second water, Necropolis will have main earth and second fire, Inferno will have main fire and second earth, Dungeon will have main earth and second fire, Conflux will have from all and special summons...

6. Stats of the heroes has been addapted for every race.


P.S I'll give more information later, until then the script is ready just for me and 20 friends of mine...anyway, the script will be for 3.59 and will have more features

I like that you can build behemoth cave before ogres fort. It would be boring if every town would have same buildings and creatures, only with another animation and name.

Wait a minute! Yes, behemots can be build before the ogres VIA Cliff Nest, which have requirements to the Wolf Pen. I thought u mean that the behemoth building will be required dwellings under level 4..

Right now, most of you say that is better how is now, but you never tried the future"Wog Balance" and same think was said by my friends or players from my country before tried the beta version.

I'll wait until the script will be officialy posted for some comments and thoughts.

You are right BAD, we don't know so much about what we're talking about. But even so, don't be discouraged. Your ideas are cool but I don't think that the building order should be changed in a way that makes it the same for everybody. ON the contrary. Your modifications to it are cool but it would be interesting to mix things up even more rather than "pacify" them, if you know what I'm saying ::- ) .

What do you even mean with this ? The statistics are others and that's important.

BAD - I like you balance idea very much. However, I have to say that some weaker towns have it for faster town development for their balance. (maybe) But as you said you're going to balance even all creatures so it's okay for me. And even the resources costs of building will balance it a little.

It's just only my humble opinion and I know we will have to try it first before we give a constructive critism.

The reason that I never posted for public is because 3.59 isn't out and are new towns in development, but perhaps I'll release a beta version....we will see

Anyway, here a some new stats in my beta version for Conflux (as I said, every town has new stats):




Also, I'm trying to add new abilities for every major unit like this(an example):

Supreme Archangel can have  using a proc chance per hit for one or two rounds AWE:  It therefore cannot be attacked by ANY level 1 creature (as these weak creatures are too intimidated to do anything). Damage received from all level 2 creatures is reduced by half, and all level 3 creatures and 4 creatures inflict -25% less damage, 5 and level 6 creatures inflict -15% less damage and level 7 and 8 units inflict -10% less damage.



This was just an example of the abilities that I'm trying to implement and every  major unit to have something special


P.S Also, No retaliation has been removed from all creatures for the best balance excepting ballista and commanders. Anyway, no retaliation can be added via stack experience or chance to proc using level of the unit...more to post later


Remember that I'm testing at home using my difficult script"Neutral Units Bonuses" and this script is addapted for that script...so, takes a bit time

Hm. How is your script going to be present? As a WOGification option?

BTW, who is the leader on 3.59 efforts. I might have a campaign for them. You know I'm working at a complex map ::- ). Lots of ERM in it.
