More Sylvan SillyNess!!

Just had a game vs. Ancient Treants.... They are already like a mini Level 7 creature as it is... now imagine them with 105 DEFENSE!!! AND UNLIMITED RETALIATION!!! AND REGENERATION!!!!  Now exactly how do you kill them?

8 Magma Dragons couldnt do enough damage to kill even 1!!


I swear UBI programmers were all Drunk off there B.u.t.t.s.... when they made this game.

That is just one of the many many silly things about Sylvan...but by far the silliest just thought I would share my opinions on just how stupid silly it is.

ofcourse I would cleanse the regen.. but if I am using my heroes turn to cleanse then how can I smack him with my hero? Caue then when his heroes turn comes he just recast regen... But I am sure you already knew that...

Started with 47 and was hitting them with everyting that I had... and 500 Mountain Guards 100 Bear Riders... 8 magma Dragons were all around them hitting theem and 260 Speir Wielders were shooting at them... and after all of them hit.. I killed 2 per round if I was lucky. But keep in mind that they retaliated on each and ever stack every time.

Just amazes me that there would be a special perk created for a creature that is already hard enough to kill... Its kinda like making an Intiative Specialist hero for a town that is already KIng dominate in best initiative creatures lol... And lets also give the same town ability to rez 2 stacks at once.. or attack 2-3 stacks at once...  I could go on and on  

I am amazed that I havent experienced this treant tactic before now.. It is quite impressive.  Stupid silly tho.

As Sylvan i glad to hear imba dwarfs screaming after tacked a beating from treants But wait, from treants ??? On Hour Glass people even not build treants ... Jinxer you should play Hour Glass

Game it's not ideal, like all thinks in this world ... But it's nice, my favorite for long time ... And team that make this game deserve a little respect from us, not only blaming ...

I watched many WC3 replays and read comments ... If night elf's win in replay, people start screaming imba elf's, if in other replay orcs win to night elf's, people screaming imba orc's ! It's normal process

Well, just imagine that you keep hitting an angry tree with some stupid sword.

But, man, if they had infinite retaliation, then its silly to attack them with all ur troops. Best to avoid and kill the rest of the army and have ur hero deal with it. Though, it will take a while for sure.. I guess, you did not have a lot of magic.  

Of course, nothing is easier than to give advice like that but since we will never play, thats what you get.

No worries Kispagat.. I didnt know it either.  But apparently a new change that was made in TOTE... that when Ancient Treants " TAKE ROOTS" they then gain unlimited retalitation. Also with Take roots they gain 50% to there defense... AND if you have stand your ground perk they gain another 50% to defense... so essentially DOUBLING DEFENSE!!! With this, treants could take ANY BATTLE on ANY MAP.  Just take roots and cast regen... and watch Hero take out what ever, while the enemy feebly beats on a tree that bearly takes any damage.  Bearly scratching the bark!

And no movement? It makes really hard opponent.

I'm afraid in this case the Dwarves are silly as they have no way to deal with such unusual threat. Necromancer would just cast Puppet Master and use Harm Touch, even Knight could just walk closer with the Sharpshooters and reduce the defense by 105

I have found this:

Take Roots: When the creature receives the Wait\Defend command, it gets 50% bonus to Defense plus ability to retaliate after all enemy attacks until the next turn.

If the hero has the Stand Your Ground ability, the Take Roots bonus is doubled to a +100% Defense increase. Ancient Treant

So you mean "plus ability to retaliate after all enemy attacks until the next turn." means unlimited retaliation?

Hmm, interesting. Never tought abt that.

Yeah, just that people looked down on them treants because they are not exactly blazing speed. I think in the Toh mod we should give them the ability to fly

I imagine my pure might hero going against these treants and a summoner.

I see it this way:
Sylvan is a very swift army so to make a proper use of it- attack, tactic and damage boosters (luck, light magic, attack skills) are needed. When Sylvan is pushed to defense closed within walls of its town, all of this swiftness and tactics loses a lot of its meaning.
Treants are ultra defensive to balance this issue for Sylvan
, they are also the only defensive unit Sylvan has. So going for defence skills has big importance only for treants. Usually you do not take Treants everywhere with a hero, just u let them stay in town. And this is what they are for.

Regardless if it was here since the beginning of time... thats not the point.  This ranks up as high as the Arcane Force Arrow Sillyness... and imagine that... both of the mega sillynesses are from same town.  Sylvan is the Supreme Dominate Town! Hands Down!

So lets summerize......

~~Arcane Force Arrow - Silly

~~Treants Mini level 7 critter with 105 defense and unlimited retalitate - Silly

~Imbue / RainArrows attacking 3 stacks with spells per 1 turn - Silly

~Rezing 2 Stacks at a time just like MOTW - Silly

~Best TOP initiative of all towns.

~Channeling effect doubling spell power! - Silly

----> Sylvan = Silly!!

I said before in toh mod thread that for some mysterious reasons sylvan developed much more than the other factions in tote.

In general I am convinced that sylvan is the strongest faction atm.

And its not just Jinxer's silly list, what shows this, but also sylvan has the longest list of strong heroes:

Ylthin
Ossir
Vinrael
Anwen

and the banned Wyngaal.

And do not forget that in tote its easier to choose FE also.

Its nut true that sylvan can not loose, but play against sylvan is always a difficult task.

But I dont think I need more arguments on this. If someone does not believe me, take a look on new season clans, and wonder, 4 sylvan clan exists. More than any other factions. (Opposite happened with necro, they weakeed so much, there is no necro clan at all!)

Last season we (gmmari, odiak and me) were the only sylvan clan....
