Hero/Creature help
I am aware hero specialties are unmodable but I have a question Into fooling the game to think specific creature specialties can be activated for other creatures My example:
The Shield Guard Specialty could be switched to Thanes, By swapping the text files and make the game think Thanes are Shield Guards by leaving the pathing of the Shield Guards unchaged but mod the unit to be a Thane and Vice-Versa.

No need to swap text files... you just need to edit them. Find an xdb file in GameMechanics\Creature\Creatures and take a look at abilities section
I love when you guys tell abut sumthin without any knowledge in that
Asking is something else of course

Sorry, I should of been more clearer, I refer to Text/XDB as the same thing and meant Hero Specialty affecting units thats what I ment by fooling the game. Would I need to change the Thane and ShieldGuard XDB files in order for Thanes to get the Defender +1 Att/Def and +1 HP Hero Speciality if possible?

So I would be unable to Change the Shield Guard XBD to match the Thanes exactly except the name of the XBD will still be sheildguard, does the game recognize the name of the XBD of the unit for the perk or what the contents of it is?

I think yes, but the thane will become a level 1 and the shield guard the level 6. I already did something similar to make archdevil summon pit spawns instead of balors.
if I remember well, in the beta (maybe in the v1.0 too) there was a file for each faction. and in this file, for each level, you had a link to the corresponding creature. I don't know if it still exists.
if it does, maybe you can swap the shield guard and the thane, and then modify this file to do what you want.

It works perfectly, Thanes now get the Defender Perk. I just need to mod the level 1 and 6 dwelling and change the Defender Specality's description and voila, a Thane Hero Specialty!
Thanks for the help

Uh yeah, it starts with Haven and its upgrades then moves on to Inferno etc. Open it and see for yourself!
