@Omega: Man...I'm so sorry to hear that. 
About what you said about the fact that things could always be worse, we even have a saying for that over here in Puerto Rico:
Si crees que tu cruz es demasiado pesado para sostener, mira a tu vecino.
Translation: If you think that your cross is too heavy to bear, look at your neighbor.
It does kinda put things into perspective when you complain about your problems, and how they seem hopeless and then you look at the next man (or woman, why not?  ) and notice that their problems are twice as bad as yours.
He is definitely a courageous soul for fighting cancer as long as he did. Many in his place would've just given up.

You people should just be glad you're alive. I haven't heard so much whining since I was at a mule festival.
(Ok, I've never been to a mule festival, but I bet there'd be a lot of whining there.  )
