A Heroes Community Without A Heroes Game
In HC we have lots and lots of new people joining up for a week or a month and then they drift off, when they post their idea about a concept that’s been done, we get angry, when they decide they’ll try and follow the rules and resurrect an old forgotten thread, we get angry, when they start to complain and say that’s what I’m supposed to do, we get and angry and shut them out, this creates an unfortunate end to these people when they leave HC.
This causes another problem with the number of big HCer’s, originally I came here and I found vast lands of Honourable Legendary Heroes (TA is my favourite!) and a great many inspirational Moderators and one fabulous Administrator, I was having the time of my life, it was fun to talk and meet people from possibly thousands of miles away and the more I talked the more I felt I had friends online (something completely new until I went online with my PS3), this wouldn’t last as Heroes 5 became boring and Civilisation was a more wowfactor like game, this caused me to play less and less of Heroes 5 until TotE was released and I never bought it, on the odd occasion I return to HC I no longer get the thrill I had before and wonder, has HC golden age past?
This is the real question as more people leave and fewer return, I hope Heroes 6 comes quick to save HC from itself.

I think that the HC's Golden Age was before your and my time. But I do think that HC is still going strong. Just because you don't feel it means that no one else feels it. I am sure that people are satisfied with staying here and I am sure this place will keep going strong and will continue to do that when Heroes6 comes along, if it ever does.

The first one or two chunks of time spent at HC is always what we remember as being the most memorable.
It is a one time experience, that I don't think will ever be the same, because it is unexpected and everything is spontaneous. Once this time has past, everyone considers that to be their golden age. After the golden age, people have expectations. They expect all the people they met to still be around visiting everyday. But most of those faces are gone.
And with a lost interest in discussing a game, you have lost the element that initiated you into making friends in the first place. Yet you've held onto the social experience at HC. And you want that to stay, but you realize it is not the same. Making friends is more of an effort, since you have lost interest in Homm5.
This happens to everyone at some point. It happened to me. I think the fact that I became Moderator and I had been to HC for so long, I had made so many friends that it always felt somewhat the same, because there would always be a few old faces.
And for me, knowing those old faces, was the thing that brought me together to make new ones. I had lost interest in HOMM very long ago. It was always the old faces that kept me around for so long.

I still come occasionally .
The community is very tight and friendly. Nice conversations to have. It seems being bored somehow stimulates people to come up withh better ideas later.

First of all, I'm glad to see you around, Ted. It is nice to finally see a post from you. I wondered where have you been all that time.
Second, I think that most of the HC members that stay here for a long time (more than a year), stay here because of the community, not because of the Heroes game itself. I think that they (I include me in this) also play Heroes very rarely, if they even play Heroes sometimes...
People come here for Heroes, and stay for the community.

What do you mean?
We have basically been here without heroes
Plus it's no fun nowadays when you can say anything interesting without mods crying over your neck, or deleting every fun thing either

Wow, its been a really long time since I've seen Ted around here.
I agree with GL on this. You originaly come here for a heroes game, but you stay because of the community. I've meet lots of very interesting people here, and it's because of these people that I'm still here, and I'm sure it's the same for pretty much everyone else too. I've been here since 2006, but I don't post that often, only if I think that my opinions of suggestions should be heard.
Although, once H6 comes along, we can expect HC to get quite a bit busier.
