Another new interview
This one's at http://www.gamecitizen.com/en/infos/viewnews.php3?newscategory=all&newsid=2652. Here are some interesting bits of info:
Quote: The Necropolis is the resting place for the undead and demons, while both human (berserkers and nomads) and inhuman (centaurs and harpies) creatures dwell in the Stronghold.
It appears the "missing" Stronghold level 2 has been discovered.
More examples of special abilities:
Quote: All of the creatures have special abilities. For example, champions do extra damage when they charge over long distances to attack, sprites are impossible to retaliate against due to their speed and small size, ... , imps drain spellpoints from enemy spellcasters and transfer them to friendly spellcasters, and mages have spellbooks containing five spells that the player can choose to cast.
(edited to remove those already known)
Finally, a little bit about artifacts:
Quote: The artifact categories are weapons, bows, armor, helms, shields, cloaks, boots, rings, amulets, staves, wands, books, potions, and miscellaneous. Staves increase a hero’s ability to use spells already known to the hero, books add spells to the spell books of heroes already skilled in magic, and wands allow any hero to cast a particular spell.
So Barbarians won't be completely incapable of magic after all (they can use wands), although I still think that heroes using a wand or book to cast a spell normally beyond their ability should have a chance of failure or, if it's way beyond their knowledge, backfire.

"Each time the player defeats an enemy army, any heroes in the defeated army are sent to the prison in the player’s nearest town."
Notice: it says the player's nearest town.
(So what happens if the nearest town doesn't conatain a prison, but the second nearest does?? Or if the prison in the nearest town is 'full'?)
"If a neutral army "sees" a player army, town or garrison in its travels, it may attack if it thinks it has a chance of winning the battle."
Intersting... so wandering monsters may attack your towns...
"Caravans transport armies from one town or creature dwelling to another. Caravans can’t be attacked, and they are faster than manually travelling over the adventure map."
News on caravans. Can't be attacked.
Overall some interesting news in this one.

well, the thing about the harpies me and several other people had gotten by the process of elimination quite a while ago... but still, good to see it confirmed
and i do believe that the thing about neutral armies attacking had been mentioned in a couple of other previous interviews.
the specialized info about caravans is good.
the mage wings thing is also a great thing.
Overall, a good interview, with the information about harpies and mage wings being the major plusses there.

Neutral armies.. We've known they would attack armies that strayed too close, but garrisons and towns were at least partly new information.
Haven't we known about the mage wings for a very long time? The part which we don't know is how powerful spells they contain. Will it just be 1st level, or perhaps 2nd level or even 3rd level spells.
That they had to contain spells from the neighboring schools I believe we had guessed a long time ago, but then again, this may not have been written in clear text.

If you check out the screenshots, there are a lot of really interesting looking map objects. Anybody care to speculate what the igloo in the snow scene is for?

The other structure that intrigues me is the dragon-like thing towards the bottom.... reminds me of the old HOMM2 sphynx. I'm posting the shot so we can see what I'm talking about.

This map location that you're pointing UnkaHaakon, also bugs me for quite some time.
I saw it on the gamespot videos also.
But I must admit that it looks like a Basilisk to me.
Maybe Basilisk hireing dwelling. Who said that the Baslisks are out of the game?
