Added the Tier 5 Creatures (Harpy, Sky Striker & Caladria for AoM fans!). Also the Striders are no longer large creatures, Harpies take their place (each town has 3 large creatures).

Will probably add Nemean Lions, Manticores and Chimaeras (more goodies for AoM fans) during the night and maybe even the Rocs, Thunderbirds and Frostbirds.

Also the Thunderbird and Frostbird locations in the line-up has been swapped.

edit: The Peak creature line-up has been completed. Balance wave will come later and stats may be added.

Imp, Monk (or Nun), [bird], Gargoyle*, War Machine, Chimera

Town name: Abyss
Also known as: The Soulless, world eaters
Associated colors:  Black, dark blue and purple
Worship: Ankash, the Dragon of Hollowness
Core Philosophy: Cleanse the Taint, Consume the Soul
Country / kingdom: The Void, The Soulless Plains
Capital city: Unknown
Architecture: Black buildings without windows or visible doors, mostly towers with bridges between them
Key symbols: Unknown

“Through the history of the world, two primordial dragons have been present, Asha and Urgash, the dragons of Order and Chaos. But up until now, the tales of the third dragon have been nothing but myths. According to bard’s tales and rumours, Ankash, the Dragon of Hollowness and Void, was actually the first of all dragons, and it was from his Void that Asha and Urgash was born, who later filled the empty space with worlds. This myth is also supported by the Irkadium Neveria, one of the most ancient books in the libraries of Heresh. Why black portals to Ankash’s realm have suddenly appeared on Ashan is unknown, but according to my research, Ankash’s armies might be here to cleanse the known world and start anew. It is possible that this has happened before, and what we know as Ashan is actually only one of numerous worlds created by our gods. Most people panicked over the black portals believing Urgash had come yet again, ignoring the lack of a solar eclipse and attacking our world, but if what I believe is true, we might stand before a threat even greater than our demonic adversaries.” A Theory on Apocalypse by Sage Arvael

Editor’s note:  Sage Arvael was accused for heresy and executed shortly after his theory had been published

The following text is from a piece of paper found by Sage Arvael’s on one of his adventures into a Dark portal.

“All we’ve found in here is pain and suffering, why have we come to this place? It’s dark, cold and I feel more tempted by that accursed tower every day. All my clansmen have given up; they all went to the black city. It is as if my very soul demands it, my body is fine but my mind becomes heavier every day. Those scythe wielding creatures are always searching; once they see me they’ll take me and steal my soul as with the rest of us! Why is this happening? I’ve been faithful to Elrath all my life, have I worshipped the wrong god? Should I have put my trust in Sylanna or Sylath instead? I was supposed to go to heaven when I died!”

If all of this is true, I have no choice but to believe Sage Arvael’s theory. So far there have only been reports of a few strange creatures wandering around these dark portals, the Unicorn Empire hasn’t attacked or tried to communicate with the creatures yet so we’re still unaware of their true intentions. But if Arvael was right, this might be our last years on Ashan. Other facts that speaks for his theory is Valya’s prophecy, which says that our ultimate victory will only spawn a new, stronger enemy. Could our triumph over the unholy demons have angered Ankash? This remains unanswered. With these words I go underground, partly because I fear Ankash’s minions, and partly because I’ll most likely be accused for heresy once this gets around. If we are to survive, spread my and Arvael’s message, the Empire won’t be able to hide the truth from the people for long.

The Book of Lost Souls, chapter 1, page 1:

We are the Soulless, the keepers of the Soulless Plains and Ankash’s faithful. You have come here to die, don’t feel fear, it’s the most natural thing in your life. Why are you here? You have sinned, and have been brought here to be purged. By being able to come this far and managing to open one of the Books of Lost Souls, you shall be rewarded; there is a place among us for you. All you need to do is turn the page, and you shall be cleansed of your mortal life and ascend to another state of being, you shall become one of us, the Soul Seekers. If you don’t turn the page, don’t worry, our servants should find you soon and purge what is left of your mortal spirit. Know that great rewards await you among our legions, your mind shall be cleansed of mortal feelings such as pain, despair and agony, your one and only purpose will be to serve Ankash and the Immortals. Consider our gift mortal, the only life you’ll find in here is the life of constant running, running from the inevitable.

The Black Bible, chapter 1, page 2:

To ascend, read the following words.

Arkaya Ankash Everia-Tineri Annu Sarde

Your new life has begun, enjoy your stay.

The Void Realms’ Society

The society in the Void Realms is quite simple but effective, since most of their inhabitants lack a will of their own. There are only warror ranks among the Void Hierarchy, with the exception being the Dark Apostles, who usually don’t enter combat. The reason for only having warrior ranks is simple, the Soulless doesn’t need food or shelter, and they’re all eternally loyal to the Spiritualists.

The 1st ranks: Mortals
While not truly counted as citizens of the Void Realms, there are millions of mortals living in caves and other places of hidings. They have refused to accept their fate, and Soul Seekers are in constant hunt for them. Ironically, it’s from these people that Soul Seekers hail, as they were once mortals too. The process of ascending to the ranks of Soul Seekers is a complicated task. First one must find a Book of Lost Souls, these books are scattered across the Void Realms and are mostly well guarded by Soul Seekers. Once a mortal finds a book, they must speak the sacred words written in it, they will then be transformed into one of Ankash’s servants. Mortals that don’t fight back often have their minds consumed by the energy pressure of the Void Realm, their eyes turn blue and they begin to slowly walk towards the nearest Black Tower, where their souls are purged.

The 2nd ranks: The Soulless
The name “Soulless” is a word that represents all Soul Seekers in the Void Realms. The word also represents the Hollow Mages, but they are so much more powerful that they have a rank of their own.
Soul Seekers hunt mortals that haven’t accepted their fate. Once they find a prey, they tear the human shell to pieces with their scythes; the remaining soul is then handled by Hollow Mages. A simple rule in the Void Society is that the more powerful a Soul Seeker is, the more free will it has, in fact, the more powerful Soul Seekers are often seen doing other things than Soul Hunting, such as sparring with each other or playing simple games. This is quite mysterious as Soul Seekers are known to not have souls at all, and thus they shouldn’t be able to think properly. A theory is that as a Soul Seeker grows stronger, small pieces of their soul comes back and they gradually get more control over their form’s instincts. However, Soul Seekers are always bound to the Void Realm; a Soul Seeker would have to be extremely powerful to go against the will of the Spiritualists, since it’s in their nature to always follow their command.
In the Soul Seeker ranks there are also numerous sub-ranks, such as the Spectre Slayer rank and the Soul Hunter rank.

The 3d ranks:  Hollow Mages
Hollow mages are Soul Seekers that have gone through a second Ascension. The details around the ritual itself are unknown but a Soul Seeker must become very powerful to be able to even grasp the meaning of Spiritualism. Hollow Mages also have the gift of nearly complete free will. The Hollow Mages’ job is mostly the management of souls, but there are also special squads that are commanded by a Hollow Mage, but they are only allowed to command simpler soldier and no great amounts of them either. The ultimate goal of a Hollow Mage is to become a Spiritualist or ascend to the ranks of the Immortals.

The 4th ranks: Spiritualists and Immortals
The 4th ranks are split between the wise Spiritualists and the mighty Immortals. The difference between these people is that ascending to the rank of Immortal grants great power immediately, and it’s often the greedier Soulless that ascend to that state. Spiritualists on the other hand have endless power, but it takes time and training to fully master the abilities they possess. Of course, the Spiritualists answer only to the Dark Apostles, so Immortals are doomed to always follow their command, even if the Immortal happens to be more powerful than the Spiritualist commanding him.

The 5th ranks: Dark Apostles
There are only 3 Dark Apostles in the Void Realm, and they are as ancient as the Void Realms themselves. They were the first mortals to ever enter the Void Realms, and their names are given after the sin they committed, their names are held secret however. Dark Apostles are the link to the Void Dragon Ankash for the Soulless, and the will of the Dark Apostles is the will of Ankash himself. The 3 Dark Apostles also have the duty to choose those worthy of ascending to the rank of Spiritualists. The true power of the Dark Apostles is unknown, but since more power means higher rank in the Void Realms, it is most likely that they are the most powerful of all.

Hero: Spiritualist
Appearance: A humanoid being with grey skin, dressed in dark blue/purple clothing. He/she floats in the air, and has 3 dark souls flying around them. He/she wields a staff with a large crystal.
Casting animation: The Spiritualist raises the staff, the souls all fly into the crystal and light bursts out.
Attack Animation: The souls fly towards the targeted creature and attack it three times before returning to the Spiritualist’s side.
Favoured Attributes: Attack, Spellpower
Favoured Magic: Summoning Magic, Dark Magic

Racial Skill: Spiritualism

“The souls of the dead is our meat, their pain is our wine”Spiritualism is the Abyss heroes’ racial skill; it’s a “in battle” skill that grants the Abyss creatures’ great power. Creatures in the Abyss armies are all fuelled by the souls of mortals, and by using “Spirit Energy” they are able to activate special abilities. Spirit Energy is gained by the hero using the ability “Consume Soul” on an enemy corpse. Note that the Spiritualist is unable to use Consume Soul on Undead creatures, but in return, Abyss creatures can’t be raised by Necromancy. If a creature decides to block a corpse, the soul will still be there, represented by a blue ghost floating on the tile its body was killed on. Spirit Energy is a global thing; all heroes contribute to the maximum Spirit Energy pool, but Spirit Energy can only be gained in combat. Needless to say, having many experienced heroes is extremely useful for this faction.

Basic Spiritualism: Grants the Spiritualist the Consume Soul ability. Spirit Energy maximum is 100.

Advanced Spiritualism: The ATB penalty for using Consume Soul is reduced by 20%. Spirit Energy maximum is 150

Expert Spiritualism: The ATB penalty for using Consume soul is reduced by 20%. Spirit Energy maximum is 200.

Ultimate Spiritualism: Consume Soul can be cast without ATB penalty (The hero can act another time after using Consume Soul. Note that this ability can only be used once per hero turn, meaning waiting for a large amount of souls to gather and then consuming them all with endless Consume Soul spells is not an option.)
______________________________________________

Using Consume Soul: Consume Soul is the ability that allows the Spiritualist to turn enemies’ souls into useful energy. The ability is found in the hero’s spellbook and can only be used in combat. The amount of Spirit Energy gained when using Consume Soul is (The total number of creatures in the dead stack * their tier number) / 2. Meaning 50 footmen would give (50 * 3) / 2= 75 Spirit Energy.
_______________________________________________

Spirit Triggers: These abilities are activated by clicking the Spirit Trigger button on a creature, the creature will then have a whole array of abilities to choose from. These abilities are used to compensate for the Abyss Creatures’ lack of strength. Note that certain buildings in the Abyss town also require Spirit Energy.

Enchant (The creature gains a 15% damage bonus until its next turn) Spirit Energy cost: 20

Shield (The creature gains a shield made of energy that absorbs 15% of the damage made upon the creature until its next turn) Spirit Energy cost: 20

Hidden Power(The creature’s Spellpower is increased by 20% for its next cast. Also, any destructive magic cast by the creature gains “master of…” effects. Meaning effects such as “Stun” will have a chance to trigger on Lightning Bolt etc) Spirit Energy cost: 20

Spirit Force (The creature’s next Spirit Trigger will have its effect doubled. You may activate a second Spirit Trigger after this one) Spirit Energy cost: 30

Warp Assault (The creature gains the ability to teleport for one turn.) Spirit Energy cost: 50

Destruction (A Large Creature activating this ability gains the ability to attack walls during a siege, the creature also gains a 20% damage bonus when attacking walls.) Spirit Energy cost: 20

Dark Charity (The creature gains +2 luck during its next attack) Spirit Energy cost: 30

Swift Death (The creature will receive positive morale if it manages to kill an enemy stack during the round that Swift Death was activated) Spirit Energy cost: 60

Swift Vengeance (If an enemy creature kills a creature affected by this Spirit Trigger during the turn that it was activated, it will receive bad morale) Spirit Energy cost: 60

Dark Exorcism (The creature is cleansed of all negative effects. If a spell is cleansed from the creature, it will become immune to it until the end of battle. If the creature is affected by multiple spells, one of them is randomly chosen for the immunity effect.) Spirit Energy cost: 60
______________________________________________________

Spiritualism Skills

Meditation (This ability can be activated while on the adventure map, the hero using this ability will not be able to move for as long as it is active. The hero will generate twice the amount it usually contributes to the maximum Spirit Energy. This ability can only be activated at the beginning of the turn, before movement. The hero remains in meditation mode for as long as the player doesn’t cancel it.)

Tactics: You will have a lot of spare heroes to make your maximum Spirit Energy higher anyway, so if they’re not doing anything special, they might as well meditate to increase your Spirit Energy maximum even further.

Mark of the Spiritualist (Special Combat Ability, the hero marks an enemy so that it will generate 50% more Spirit Energy once defeated. The Spiritualist can only mark one unit at a time.)

Tactics: A tempting ability, but don’t overuse it since there’s so much else your hero can do besides soul collecting.

Alteration (Adventure map ability, all Mana gained by the hero is transformed into Spirit Energy instead. The Spirit Energy gained is the amount of Mana regenerated / 2. The hero will not gain Mana until the hero cancels this ability.)

Tactics: Another ability that is useful for all those heroes that doesn’t really do anything besides making your Spirit Energy maximum bigger. It also very useful for the pure Might hero, as the Abyss faction can focus on both Might and Magic. If you happen to see Valiya in your tavern, buy her immediately since she starts with Mana Regeneration.

Soul Feast (Ultimate Ability, whenever an enemy creature is destroyed in any way, their Soul is immediately consumed.) Skills required: Luck -> Soldier’s Luck, Magic Resistance –> Dead Man’s Curse, Sorcery -> Arcane Training, Mana Regeneration -> Arcane Excellence, Summoning Magic -> Master of Conjuration, Master of Life -> Elemental Balance

Tactics: The Soul Feast is a very effective ability, since it lets your hero do other things than soul collecting, such as summoning creatures to the battlefield. Luck is always good to have, and Sorcery supports your Summoning Magic. But there are many skills that are far better for a Spiritualist, Attack and Dark Magic for example. But if you want this skill that is simply the price you’ll have to pay.

_____________________________________________________

Abyss Creatures

Tier 1: Gargoyle
Appearance: A living statue with large claws and wings.
Description: The gargoyles of the Abyss’ armies are different from the wizards’ creations in the manner that they are not fuelled by magic, but with the soul of a mortal. The Abyss’ Gargoyles are fast and strong but extremely fragile.
Abilities: Small Creature, Flyer

Tactics: Main use is to tangle up enemy shooters, pretty useless on all other areas because of how fragile they are.

Tier 1 Upgrade 1: Blood Goyle
Appearance: A Gargoyle with red runes on its body, it looks like blood is flowing within the inscriptions.
Description: A Blood Goyle is created by fusing a Gargoyle with the soul of a murderer. The murderer’s soul grants the Blood Goyle a terrifying attack ability, as it becomes stronger as the challenge grows greater.
Abilities: Small Creature, Flyer, Bloodlust (The Blood Goyle gains a 30% damage bonus for every 2 enemy stacks adjacent to it.)

Tactics: Into the Fray! The bloodlust ability can be really powerful if used right, tangle up the enemy shooters, and when the other enemies come for aid, the Bloodlust triggers and increases the damage output.

Tier 1 Upgrade 2: Prism Goyle
Appearance: A gargoyle made of light blue crystal, the crystal is transparent and you can see a purple flame within it.
Description: Prism Goyles are sturdier and can take more damage than the standard gargoyle. Also, Hollow Mages are able to focus their attacks through the Crystal, making their attacks much more powerful.
Abilities: Small Creature, Flyer, Prism (This creature is immune to the attacks of creatures using “Magic Attack”, like Academy’s Mages. A creature using the ability “Magic Attack” to shoot through this creature gains a heavy increase to the attack’s damage. The damage increase is 25% and the attack will ignore 50% of the damaged creatures’ defence.)

Tactics: Their defence is huge compared to the other gargoyles and its usage is completely different. Use this creature to block the passage to your shooters/casters. The Prism ability ensures that whoever gets close is blasted away by your Hollow Mages’ Magic Attack. Only one gargoyle is needed for the prism effect, so you can surround your mages with Prism Goyles, that way you’re sure to get the prism bonus when attacking. Just watch out not to hit your own troops.

Tier 2: Soul Seeker
Appearance: A grey, humanoid creature with a dark blue robe and hood, it is slightly bent forward, giving it a quite primitive look. It wields a scythe in its hands.
Description: Soul Seekers are Ankash’s servants and responsible for handling the souls of mortals in the Void Realms. They are not as intelligent as humans, but with the lack of intelligence come an unbreakable will to serve its master.
Abilities: Small Creature

Tactics: Soul Seekers have above average stats for a tier 2 unit, which is good since they lack useful abilities when in this form. Your gargoyles tangle up the enemy shooters, Soul Seekers go for the melee guys, simple.

Tier 2 Upgrade 1:  Soul Hunter
Appearance: Dark red robe and shiny scythe.
Description: Soul Hunters are quite dangerous creatures, even for their masters. Their powers can be highly unstable and hard to handle, but if used right, Soul Hunters can be a powerful asset to the Abyss forces. In battle, they are able to unleash their spiritual energy in shockwaves that stuns the enemy.
Abilities: Small Creature, Discharge (Activated Ability, the Soul Hunter walks up to an enemy creature and blasts them away with spiritual energy. The targeted enemy creature is moved back 2 tiles in the targeted direction and its ATB value is halved.)

Tactics: The Discharge ability is useful both for unblocking your shooters and ensuring that the strongest enemy unit doesn’t get to do that fatal move. Nothing else really, Soul Hunters are useful even in low numbers so you can afford to lose a few.

Tier 2 Upgrade 2: Spectre Slayer
Appearance: Dressed in only black, glowing scythe.
Description: Spectre Slayers have the unique ability to become invisible whenever their body is affected by something non physical, such as magic. It’s an extremely effective defence, as Slayers are generally fragile and unable to take too much pounding.
Abilities: Small Creature, Spectre (This creature becomes invisible for one turn every time it’s affected by a spell or ability. This can be used for extremely evil Spirit Trigger tactics since those are counted as abilities, for example, an invisible unit who attacks doesn’t get retaliated)

Tactics: If you have enough Spirit Energy, the Spectre ability can pretty much count as No Enemy Retaliation since they become invisible when using Spirit Triggers. And No Enemy Retaliation is never bad.

Tier 3: Dark Cannon
Appearance: A large dark cannon operated by two small Soul Seekers. The cannon don’t have wheels, during movement the Soul Seekers lift the cannon and carry it to the new position.
Description: Dark Cannons are primitive but deadly weapons created by the Abyss armies. It fires dark lightning bolts that can damage several enemies, but while Dark Cannons are extremely powerful they are also very slow, and it takes a lot of power to move them even a short distance.
Abilities: Large Creature, Shooter, Mechanical, Dark Lightning (This creature’s attack jumps from an enemy stack to another, damaging that stack too, providing that the enemy units are adjacent to each other.)

Tactics: An extremely powerful shooter, but it’s easily tangled up by enemy units because of its size and slow movements. Soul Hunters Discharge ability is very useful here, blast the enemy away and the Dark Cannon has a penalty free shot since the enemy is still close.

Tier 3 Upgrade 1: Demigun
Appearance: The dark lightning bursts occasionally from the tip of the cannon, the Soul Seekers are dressed in purple.
Description: Spiritualists quickly discovered that their Dark Cannons were easily overrun by enemy forces, and so they invented a device that could create Dimension Rifts, allowing the Cannons to teleport to a safe location and fire at the unaware opponent. They named the cannon “Demigun”, and it was soon a standard among many Abyss armies.
Abilities: Large Creature, Shooter, Mechanical, Dark Lightning (This creature’s attack jumps from an enemy stack to another, damaging that stack too, providing that the enemy units are adjacent to each other.), Dimension Rift (Activated Ability, this creature can teleport to anywhere on the battlefield and attack in the same turn. This ability can only be used twice per combat.)

Tactics: The Dimension Rift ability lets you choose Spectre Slayers instead of Soul Hunters, since Demiguns can teleport to safety instead of having to rely on Soul Hunters’ Discharge ability. Dimension Rift is also a good finishing move, teleport your Demigun to a place a few tiles from the enemy, and you have a penalty free shot that hurts like hell.

Tier 3 Upgrade 2: Apocalypse
Appearance: Flames burst from the cannon instead; the Soul Seekers are dressed in black and dark red.
Description: The Apocalypse is a terrifying device used to demoralize enemy units. It fires heavy fireballs at enemy, which both damage the enemy and hurts their will to fight.
Abilities: Large Creature, Shooter, Mechanical, Doomfires (This creature’s attack lowers the affected enemy’s morale by 2. The effect lasts for 2 turns. The fire can also jump from an enemy to another, providing that the enemy units are adjacent to each other.)

Tactics: The Doomfires ability is best coupled with luck-decreasing artifacts, that way you ensure that the enemy creatures have a really low morale. If you don’t have artifacts and are facing a high-morale faction, consider choosing the Demigun instead, since you probably won’t get their morale that low anyway.

Tier 4: Hollow Mage
Appearance: A mage dressed in a black robe with spiked shoulder armour, wields a wand. It has the same grey skin as the Soul Seekers.
Description: Hollow Mages are the superiors of the Soul Seekers; their main duty is simply to keep their subordinates on a tight leash. This can be a risky business, as Soul Seekers don’t enjoy taking orders from anyone but their hero; therefore the Hollow Mages have been granted supreme magic power.
Abilities: Small Creature, Magic Attack

Tactics: A powerful but fragile shooter, once you get these guys you should consider getting Prism Goyles. A Prism enhanced Magic Attack really hurts, as stated before, just watch out not to hit your own units.

Tier 4 Upgrade 1: Spirit Mage
Appearance: Glowing wand and dark purple robe.
Description: Spirit Mages have attained a higher rank and are freed from the business of handling Soul Seekers. They are instead given even greater powers and are assigned to handle the souls of mortals absorbed by the Black Towers. They are also very useful on the battlefield, where they can aid the Spiritualist’s soul collecting.
Abilities: Small Creature, Magic Attack, Consume Soul (This creature can use the hero ability “Consume Soul”, see Spiritualism section.), Caster (Lightning Bolt)

Tactics: The Consume Soul ability can spare your hero a turn of soul collecting, which is good. If your Spirit Mages are tangled up in melee the Lightning Bolt spell can do wonders too, especially when coupled with the “Hidden Power” Spirit Trigger, or even better, double the Spirit Trigger’s effectiveness with “Spirit Force”.

Tier 4 Upgrade 2: Phantom Mage
Appearance: No wand and a dark blue robe with red insignias.
Description: Phantom Mages have the gift of mind reading, or rather “soul reading”. They are able to copy other species’ abilities and use them to their advantage. Many are those who have used a mighty ability only to experience its power themselves.
Abilities: Small Creature, Magic Attack, Mimic (Activated Ability, this creature can mimic an activated ability last used by an enemy or a friendly creature. For example, Archangel uses Resurrection ability; The Phantom Mage uses Mimic and gets to use Resurrection on an allied unit. If an Archer’s Scatter Shot ability was used after the Archangel had used Resurrection however, Scatter Shot would’ve been the mimicked ability.)

Tactics: There are countless uses for the Mimic Ability; it really depends on the opponent and which abilities he uses. Remember that Caster is counted as an ability, if mimicked; the Phantom Mage will receive Casting ability and the spell that the enemy used.

Tier 5: Chimera
Appearance: A large beasts with 3 heads, a bull, a dragon and a lion’s head. It stands on two legs, with its right hand on the ground for balance.
Description: Chimeras are a type of monster found in the Void Realms. None know what they are, or where they came from, but their power is gladly welcomed in the Abyss armies.
Abilities: Large Creature, Fire Breath

Tactics: Finally! A tanky unit! Chimeras are just brute force, send them at the enemy and let them do their thing.

Tier 5 Upgrade 1: Ancient Chimera
Appearance: Smoke rises from its heads, its skin is darker.
Description: Ancient Chimeras are older and wiser than normal Chimeras; some would even call them intelligent, although all attempts at communication have failed. Nevertheless, Ancient Chimeras are a powerful asset to the Abyss armies.
Abilities: Large Creature, Fire Breath, Firebolt (Activated Ability, the creature gains shooter ability for one turn.)

Tactics: A Chimera with better stats and a pretty good ability. If you use the Ancient Chimeras to block your shooters you can use the Firebolt ability to shoot instead, which lets you stay on your tile and defend your units.

Tier 5 Upgrade 2: Horror Chimera
Appearance: A dark grey Chimera with purple eyes, it has dark hair on its back.
Description: Horror Chimeras have lost their ability to breathe fire, but what they lack in firepower they more than make up in muscle power. The Soul Seekers ensure that these creatures are always in their strongest condition by pitting them against the strongest mortals that are sent to the Void Realms.
Abilities: Large Creature, Three Headed Attack
Tactics: Even more melee awesomeness, tanky and evil.

Tier 6: Soul Raven
Appearance: A Soul Seeker mounted on a gigantic raven. The raven’s eyes glow in red.
Description: Soul Ravens are one of the few natural animals in the Soulless Plains. Mostly, they fly above the lands searching for mortals that haven’t had their souls absorbed yet. During the preparations for the invasion of Ashan however, they were recruited and proved to be excellent mounts.
Abilities: Large Creature, Flyer

Tactics: Soul Ravens are fast enough to cross the battlefield in one turn, so go for the shooters. They are kind of fragile for a Tier 6 unit, but their damage and initiative more than makes up for it. These creatures are useful, so don’t waste them.

Tier 6 Upgrade 1:  Voidhawk
Appearance: A large black hawk with an armoured Soul Seeker on top. The Soul Seeker wields a claymore pulsating with dark power.
Description: Voidhawks are a rare breed of Soul Ravens that are a sort of lesser god for the Soul Seekers. They are extremely strong and can easily lift a fully armoured Soul Seeker on its back. The elite Soul Seekers allowed to ride these beasts are also armed with Soul Blades, which can force the very soul out of the living.
Abilities: Large Creature, Flyer, Soul Blade (A creature whose stack has been reduced to 25% or less will have a chance to have its soul released when the Voidhawk strikes them. The Soul is then free to be consumed by the Spiritualist. If the Spiritualist manages to consume the soul, the remaining stack immediately dies. The chance for the Soul to be released by the Soul Blade is 50%)

Tactics: Better stats and a cool ability, being able to kill 25% of an enemy stack in two turns is good. This lets you go for the heavy guys when their weakened by other troops, one tactic can be to have one spare Voidhawk in your army. Keep it at the back, where it can wait for the enemy troops to be weakened, then send one Voidhawk in and release their souls.

Tier 6 Upgrade 2: Skyshade
Appearance: A large dark blue bird with red eyes, the Soul Seeker carries a flaming spear.
Description: Skyshades are actually one of the most common creatures found in the Void Realm, even more common than its weaker relative; the Soul Ravens. One might wonder why the Abyss armies don’t have thousand of these beasts, the explanation is simple. Skyshades are different from the Soul Ravens in that they’re almost untameable. In fact, many Spiritualists saw the taming of Skyshades as unprofitable, since so many of their soldiers were killed by the birds. The truth is, Skyshades are not mad beasts; they’re only searching for a worthy master to ride them.
Abilities: Large Creature, Flyer, Dark Will (This creature gains a 0.10 bonus to its ATB value every time a Spirit Trigger is used. This effect is not triggered if it’s the Skyshade who’s using the Spirit Trigger.)

Tactics: If you have a lot of Spirit Energy, the Skyshade will be a real killer on the battlefield since its ATB value is increased by every Spirit Trigger activated. Just don’t overdo the use of Spirit Triggers, your valuable Spirit Energy is needed for high-level buildings too.

Tier 7: Immortal
Appearance: A humanoid creature with large black wings on its back. It has a third eye on its forehead, and it’s dressed in the same clothing as Soul Seekers.
Description: Immortals are among Ankash’s mightiest servants. They were once Soul Seekers, but after thousand years of service they were awarded, and went through their second Ascension. They have a close bond to the Void Realm and are able to use their home’s endless energy to stay alive even when struck by deadly blows.
Abilities: Small Creature, Ascended (If this stack is attacked so that one or more creature would normally be killed, the first member will have its health reduced to 1, the remaining damage will then jump to the next creature, and so on. This can be repeated until all creatures in the stack have 1 HP left. Once all creatures in this stack has 1 Hp left, they will all die), Caster (Ice Bolt, Blindness)

Tactics: Imba incarnate? Nah, their cost is extremely high and their stats mediocre. The fact that they’re never killed until they’re all heavily damaged also makes it impossible to use resurrect effectively on them. Still, Immortals’ supportive spells can be very useful, and they’re very effective in melee too.

Tier 7 Upgrade 1: Avatar
Appearance: Dark lightning bursts from its body and engulfs its hands. Its whole body is marked with glowing tattoos.
Description: The almighty Avatars are even more powerful than the Immortals. They are master spellcasters using some of the most complicated spells in existence.
Abilities: Small Creature, Ascended (If this stack is attacked so that one or more creature would normally be killed, the first member will have its health reduced to 1, the remaining damage will then jump to the next creature, and so on. This can be repeated until all creatures in the stack have 1 HP left. Once all creatures in this stack has 1 Hp left, they will all die), Caster (Deep Freeze, Puppet Master)

Tactics: Deep Freeze and Puppet Master will be enough to severely hurt your opponent. Nothing bad about this upgrade really, Puppet Master should be worth the money.

Tier 7 Upgrade 2: Demigod
Appearance: Its wings are made of dark purple flames. The third eye glows in red.
Description: Demigods are experts at handling souls, so skilled are they that they can bring out the worst in a soul and create evil ghosts. The Demigod is a feared opponent, as many have had their comrades’ souls turned into restless spirits that hungers for their blood.
Abilities: Small Creature, Ascended (If this stack is attacked so that one or more creature would normally be killed, the first member will have its health reduced to 1, the remaining damage will then jump to the next creature, and so on. This can be repeated until all creatures in the stack have 1 HP left. Once all creatures in this stack has 1 Hp left, they will all die), Caster (Ice Bolt, Blindness), Shadow Elementals (Activated Ability, once an enemy stack has been killed and its soul has been released, the Demigod can use this ability on the soul and turn it into Shadow Elementals. The amount of Shadow Elementals spawned is the total number of creatures in the dead stack * their tier number / 2. This ability can only be used once per combat, but can be copied by Phantom Mages)

Tactics: Remember that using Shadow Elementals on a soul makes that soul disappear, you will not be able use that soul for Spirit Energy later. On the other hand, Shadow Elementals are very powerful and since you probably have enough Spirit Energy when you’ve received the Demigod, they are well worth it.

Special Tier 4 Creature: Shadow Elementals
Appearance: A black cloud in the shape of a large humanoid being.
Description: Shadow Elementals are brought to life by magic. They represent the dark desires and sins of the souls they came from. The feelings of regret and shame are enhanced and used as energy when the Shadow Elemental attacks, giving it tremendous attack ability while ensuring that the soul repents its sins.
Abilities: Small Creature, Teleport, Corruption (Activated Ability, the Shadow Elementals fly into the soul of an enemy creature and cripples it. The creature is unable to move from its current location for 2 turns. The Shadow Elementals disappear during the duration of this effect, after 2 turns, the Shadow Elementals reappear next to the creature.)

I'd like an opinion from you guys... Do you think it's hard to read my faction? I've tried to make it easy with a lot of bb codes to tell abilities from descriptions etc... but maybe it was too much?

I will begin judging tonight, and this time the scores (and why) will be posted alongside each faction.  This week I am going to be specifically rough in my scores, as the contest gets on in weeks the criteria will be more strict.

Sanctum - Still a little incomplete, and if an extension is given my score may change.  A magnificent town with little that would be a mark against it.  The snipers I am not sure fit in with the town.  I had to give you a lot of points for the story background.  Like the special also.  So..even with my harsher grading scale you managed a 8/10.  Keep in mind that if there is an extension, or I am grading too early this can only go higher.

High Peaks - Mvass, you are a bloody genius.  There I said it.  Absolutely loved the town.  The abilities are amazing, the story and the background also. Though some of the towns had a bit MORE to them, this is right now my favorite.  Still only 8.5/10 but I had a real tough time finding places that need improvement.

Peak - This contest is going to be hard.  All the entries have something that makes them amazing.  I could only find one problem with your town, but it is kinda large.  Your racial ability though it can heal your stacks, can leave other stacks stranded in a fight.  This can be harmful to your chances in battle.  Unless I missed something that is.  7.5/10

Hidden Lookout - The one thing that lowered your points was history and storyline.  Your creatures and abilities were top notch.  Maybe the best of the lot imo.  However, I like strong history and storylines.  Again if extension is given you can raise your score by adding to story.  6.5/10  (sorry)

Dark Church - The concept and creatures were great, absolutely loved them.  Little more story/background, and some special abilities and you would have been hard to beat.  6/10 (sorry)

Shurinkar - After picking up peices of my exploded head, I looked for negatives in your town.  Could only find small things, and have to *bow* at your awesomeness.  8.5/10 (tie for 1st place?!)

The Megrim Faction - Sith you are always a genious.  Again if an extension is given or I am judging too soon this score may change.  Would have liked to see more from you.  As is .. 5/10.  (Sorry)

Asylum - A potential masterpiece, had it been finished.  Just can't give a good score as is, but this has potential..would like to see it finished regardless of how you do in the competition.  4/10 (Really sorry).

The Cyclone - Well, there WERE two people tied for 1st, but this entry is..just...wow.  I am honestly speechless.  10/10  (Yes, somebody managed a perfect score..even when I was honestly trying to be tough).

Abyss - Adrius ... any other week and you would have gotten first place.  It was truely great.  *bows*.  Unfortunately you were up against The Cyclone.  While your town was awesome, it scored 9/10.

On that note, I would like to step aside as judge.  After this week that is.  If somebody would volunteer to replace me (after this week) I would be greatful.
