Heroes3,5 (WOG-Wake Of the Gods) released!
WOG came out on the 20th of nov and if you tried it I would like to hear your opinions on this "New Life of Heroes" gave by the russians.

Wog's better than I expected, but the campaigns aren't that great, the storyline's not exactly clear(sorry to the people who made this.) I was able to sort of see, though, that it's supposed to be something like Gelu doesn't destroy the world, you do, by destroying all evil. Wierd, huh?

I want it! It sounds like fun, but I tried DLing it with my 54k modem and well....
Anyhow, 3 hours later, at 98% complete, my connection dropped, and I didn't reallize I would not be able to continue!
Oh well, I just decided to wait for my cable modem (should be Monday) then try again.

When you enter on the file planet page you observe 2 download sections... one which says PERSONAL SERVER (don't click here!) and other which says PUBLIC SERVERS (that's the answer to your question...).

First - Did you play the campaign "A life of A-d-v-e-n-t-u-r-e" ?
cause in the end I cannot beat the swamp hero witch has 2hidras, 10greater basilicks, some ogres... What troops did you had when you faced him!?
Secoundly the campaign "The samaritan" cannot be continued cause with 10 grand elves it's imposible to beat a THRONG of thieves!!! (26 on each row!!!)
The idea of the campaigns it's pretty much interesting practically transforming HOMM3 in an adventure game!

Go to www.zdnet.com find download accelerator. It helps cuse if u get disconnected it saves what it did and you can resume it and finish it. That might help. Attila

downloaded wog...
but what the snow...errors:
1)bad dll(downloaded problem sorted)
2)install file errors...
3)tryed to unpack again...error in zip file
---
glad i got this weekend program: for only ten bucks a month you can surf free during weekends...guess ill try next saturdayy...

I also have some friends that experienced these errors although the zip is ok (I have instaled WOG from the same zip file and worked)

Thanks for the info, wish I had it earlier, but like I said, getting a cable modem installed Monday and I can wait that long I think. A friend has one and said he DLed a 30 meg program in about a minute or so. As it was the first thing he tried after trying it at 56K, he was so surprised how fast it was going he forgot to time it like he intended to.

what i think....
ERM and HOMM3.5 is good stuff...
But I don't like WOG. I've tried starting three campaigns - and there's lots of text. I like text&story - don't get me wrong. But not in heroes - not in heroes. I liked Grandia for great story, also Dragon Warrior and even Final Fantasy. But Heroes is just STRATEGY - turnbased.
Heroes is micro-management type of game + strategy - but not RPG/Quest/Adventure game.
HOMM3.5 should be used to make great strategy campaigns instead of weird story based ones - also the story is not so great about them.

Story Campaigns are good - as long as they are playable. In these WOG ones, they have some impossible things they expect you to do(e.g. Throng of Rouges against 11 Grand Elves) My advice is just make your own story maps with the WOG Map Editor.

So...mmm... you bumped into the same problem like me...that campaign can't be finished!!! (no way can 11 grand elves beat a throng o rogues!)

About homm3.5 ...
I would like to add that the ghost ability is awesome!(althoght they lack in life -> 5hp and damage -> 1-2dmg)
With 5 or 10 ghost using "wait-strike-come back" strategy (ghosts have speed>8) you can make legions of ghosts in no time just by picking up on weaker monster groups (1-5health).

Are you sure?
I mean with them when attacking peasants - you can make millions  ... But that will ruin the game... That nearly ruined Heroes2 (or Heroes1 - the one with the ghosts in it). ...forgot to mention...you don't get the creatures killed by the ghosts turned all to ghosts but their hitpoints(!). So if you kill 100 peasants (really hard huh!)> you get 100 / 5(ghost's life)= 20 ghosts(!) NOT 100! I think this is fair enough and cannot ruin the game since from a ghost town you get only 5 ghosts and that's it (next week you can't recruit anymore ghosts!).
However if you fight troglodits or infernal troglodits ...
