[request] WOG into Heroes 5 - Mithrill and upgradable external creature dwellings
This was just a thought - I don't know if it's conceivable. Off all the featurs of Heroes 3.5 WOG I liked, one pretty simple one (or was is?) was the implementation of Mithrill and some of its various uses. Perticularly, I always enjoyed being able to upgrade external dwellings, so that you could purchase upgraded creatures instead of basic ones. Would it be possible to implement these features into Heroes 5?

Truly saying, so far I've seen NO external map object or script implemented in game and most likely we'll need at least one of them to do what you ask for.
However the idea itself appears very interesting.

Hmm, I'll try this someday, can't guarantee a success though. Today I can't, but maybe tomorrow I'll find out if it's possible or not.

To save you some time, if the idea is to visit the dwelling and upgrade it, it's impossible (example: to visit the Archer Tower and upgrade it to Marksman Tower).

Did you try to use the ReplaceDwelling function somehow?
Yes, I still think for a way to use a script universally and not bound to the map.

Never tried with scripting, since I'm not a scripter, but I'm sceptical about this. Even if it works it won't be like to build in a town, still may work with script

I just tested the ReplaceDwelling function, and it seems it CAN upgrade a dwelling (but you won't be able to train un-upgraded creatures), and also it can increase the growth of the dwelling four times, by actually making it "sell" four times the specific creature
So yes, it is perfectly possible to "upgrade" a dwelling but only if you make scripts specific to the map (and "name" all the dwellings)
Still trying to find out a way to get rid of this "problem" though

In whay way are scripted default map objects? Are they hardcoded, or do they refer to some internal or external sripts?

They don't refer to any scripts, they are hardcoded (if you thought about "replacing" those scripts, it won't work, because they don't exist)
