Would it be better in the form of a bar joke like this:
- Life and Death are in love.
- What, how?
- Well, Life keeps sending countless gifts to Death and Death always keeps them.
I don't thinks so, the caricature makes it a little poetic in a way.

I liked it. 
It had the shock factor to potentially be funny, in my opinion, but I liked it more for its simple yet philosophical part.
