Recording Heroes

A plea, if someone is acquinted: I'm trying for the first time to record a Heroes 3 game, but I'm having problems. If I use Fraps the game crashes immidiatelly upon record start, and if I use Camstudio or Camtasia I can produce a recording, but no matter what I do I can't get the audio to sound good. There is too much noise and it sounds awful, even if I set the highest possible bitrates.
Please, if someone knows at least how to make a raw recording, where I will get audio and video exactly as it is, so maybe I can compress it later. Thanks in advance.

Maybe it might have to do with the fact that the audio is trying to be recorded via the computers integrated microphone? Trying setting the audio recorder so it records the sounds coming from the system speaker. If that doesn't work then I don't know what else to suggest. I hope it works though.

I used the Wisdom ScreenRecording Program to record Heroes III, and it worked very well. Sadly, it was only a trial version, and the 15 days expired. I'm to greed to buy this program.
But if you want to get the best possible answer, ask Vokial.

I don't know what's with the "noise". Fraps is great, it will record the sound exactly as it is produced (and what you actually hear at the speakers), not via a microphone or anything which could reduce the quality and add noises. I have NO idea why it crashes though

Also, when recording with other programs you can also use "Stereo Mix" or "Mono Mix" to record directly and not through a microphone to degrade the quality. It will record exactly as you hear it on the speakers. But I'm not sure if all sound cards support this (mine does)

Well, Fraps crashes every time I press the function key.

Btw, I encountered something funny: sound quality isn't really the same depending in which program I play the recording: it is always awful in VLC, but now I tried to listen to it in WMP and it sounds more acceptable (not close to very good though).

edit: I figured something out about Fraps, but it is so weird: it works now, BUT ONLY if I press F9 while the 3do logo is shown. If I try to record from anywhere else it does nothing, neither screenshot or record. Is there any other way to start the recording save F9?

I don't know why Fraps crashes... does it work on other games?

If not, check out the system requirements from the fraps help file, maybe you need to update your drivers? In the help file it says:
Quote:
This version of Fraps has been developed with the 169.21 Forceware drivers for Geforce cards, and the 7.12 Catalysts for Radeon cards.  Please make sure your installed video card drivers are at least these versions!  Earlier drivers may suffer performance problems.

It does always in Warcraft 3 for the least.

Drivers shouldn't be the problem.

But check what I wrote:
" figured something out about Fraps, but it is so weird: it works now, BUT ONLY if I press F9 while the 3do logo is shown. If I try to record from anywhere else it does nothing, neither screenshot or record. Is there any other way to start the recording save F9? "

I guess I will try different version of Fraps - one has to work. Will let you know, thanks for the help

I have a problem too with FRAPS, it records sound well, but half of animation it doesn't record. Could it be something with the graphic or...?

I used HyperCam 2 to record my gameplay like this:  http://youtu.be/ya8C_LBukfY
But there were one problem: When I started Hypercam 2 - there were a dark screen. To solve this problem - I had made a half screen size in separate window - Only after that - Hyper Cam was recored game correctly
