[WIP] Seven Modded Towns
Hi all,
I've been creating some odd stuff here and there, but I think I'd like to start a proper project for a change. This isn't such a big thing at the moment, but I'd like it to get more complex as it goes along. I may need a little help, though.
I'm making a short campaign as a tie-in to something else I'm working on (none of your business yet, that's what ), but the main attraction in these scenarios will be the modded towns that'll appear. I'm going to revamp seven of the towns with new looks, switched buildings, new heroes and semi-new creature lineups (Inferno is practically unchanged, for story reasons).
I think I'll make it work like the Dark Messiah map, so that it'll operate as a mod on its own with no effect on the base game - but if the individual towns are good enough, maybe I'll release them separately.
For the sake of preventing spoilers, the only storyline hint I'll be giving out consists of the following words: Heroes Two
As for the towns: So far, I'm planning:
Water Towns:
Temple (Haven), Wyrd Shuttle (Academy)
Fire Towns:
Bastion (Fortress), Inferno (Unchanged Inferno)
Earth Towns:
Grove (Sylvan), Morass (Dungeon)
Air Towns:
Ethergate (Necropolis), Outwatch (Stronghold)
These elemental alignments don't actually affect much, I'm just aiming for a balance in the atmosphere Each town has a working history, and there's a reason why I'm creating each. Nothing is there just for the hell of it - they'll all have a role in the campaign (I may have some trouble cramming it all in, though)
There will likely be no NCFffffffing (sp?) in the campaign, but if they're interested, people can use materials however they like once it's done - though please ask permission.
Anyway, have some screenies and see for yourself what I mean:
Maybe not so impressive, since I still have some lighting to correct and textures to tweak.
But I've made some progress since these screenshots - both of the towns shown (Temple and Bastion) almost have a working lineup. All they need is a mountainload of balancing, which is where you come in...
If you'd like to help me out, let me know whether or not you're interested in playing something like this (if not, I'll know to stop right now ) or PM me. I could use a little help with retexturing, maybe some skydome textures, and a lot of help with balancing.
Well, that's about it for now

Thanks for the offer, I'll PM you.
Sure, I can mod towns in all sorts of ways, even swapping dwelling models is simple enough (they can turn out awful, though)

It looks so pretty and cool.
I never liked the look of the Fortress as it is. In your version is looks so much better.

The rain is available as a skydome effect. I applied it using the editor and some sellotape.
What I'd really love to do is to edit the towns' music, but I don't think it's possible unless I overwrite the musics which already exist...

I see we have common aesthetical taste Really nice effect, but what I care about is whether it will improve the gameplay or not

Het nice visuals as always. One question though are you still working on the Ergar's map? If not, I won't have to work on ToK anymore, since no one seems to care about it.

We do Kronos, but the lack of updates lately shows noting interesting on whats old, we are waiting on the new unfinished things and when it finally is finished. then it will be very popular, imho!

I almost had it finished two months ago... but after a botched mod I needed to reinstall TotE, and forgot to back up my maps
Should I start creating it again?
