Heroes of Might and Magic ( I & II) Emulation on the PSP
I am not expecting many people here to have a Playstation Portable, and those who do, I'm not expecting you to have used emulation.. so this message will probably' only concern a few people, but does anybody at all have any familiarity with using DOSbox on a PSP, and, how I could achieve this:

Heroes of Might and Magic II Emulated on the PSP
I know it is possible,I am quite familiar with emulation, (I've Pandora'd my PSP contless times), yet have no clue how to use DOSbox.
I know emulation is frowned upon in many forums, but, I own Heroes in 3 different formats (original release, Compendium, and Complete Edition), and Heroes II in 4 (Original release, Compendium, Soldout Software, and Complete Edition), I think I'm justified to have these things portable.
Also, if ANYBODY on these forums could give me a clue where to find the DOS file for Heroes I & II, I'd be very grateful, I only own the Windws versions you see.
If it helps anybody, I'm currently running custom Firmware, 4.01 M33-2.
Thanks in advance to anybody out there who can help.
EDIT: I am sure that I posted this in Library of Enlightenment..

Hi
Like you I saw those videos and am now desperate to get H2 working on my PSP. I am running firmware 1.5 with emulation working. I wouldn't consider my self an expert though, not even close.
I have dosbox working on my psp. I'm using what is afaik the most recent version which can be found here http://pspupdates.qj.net/DosBox-PSP-version-03-08-08/pg/49/aid/122930
Only problem with this version is that I haven't found an eboot that will automatically load dos navigator or one of the other dosbox add ons. This means you'll have to do the typing manually, which means you'll need to have a rudimentary understanding of the dos language. Type in "ms-dos tutorial" into google if you need further help.
A handy tutorial on how to navigate around dosbox can be found here.
http://www.spiffup.org/Dosbox.txt
The other issue is typing. By the time you're done learning how to type in psp dosbox you'll likely have gained a few grey hairs.
The best tutorial I've found on typing is this one. http://www.niwra.nl/psp/p-sprint-c/doc/ Even knowing how to type I imagine it will be a long time before this is a familiar process.
That's about as far as I got with it. I managed to execute a few games but they don't seem to be working.
Which brings me to my last point, I can't seem to find Heroes 2 for dos anywhere. I own the full windows version but finding the dos version is proving nearly impossible. I'm more than happy to pay for it, although I would have thought that by now H2 in dos would be freeware. If anyone can provide any information on how to obtain it I would be eternally grateful.
Let us know how you go setting this up.

Just thought I'd post a quick update. I managed to find H2 dos version on an old abandonware site. Got it installed on my Psp which is great. It's playable albiet very slowly. I'll post instructions up here if anyone is interested.
I have a problem with it though which is that dosbox doesn't appear to have write permissions to the PSP. I'm unable to overwrite saved games, although I'm able to save new games. This is a massive problem because the game crashes on Autosave and I can't turn Autosave off. I have the same problem with Wacky Wheels which crashes on trying to edit a cfg file while opening.
So in reality it's not playable until I manage to fix this problem.
I'll check back and post instructions on how to set it up if anyone is interested.

Make sure the game is not too big in RAM requirments for you'r machine. If it's so, there is no way to fix the game. Autosave is very slow on slow machienes, it's a very known fact.
