Oh no, not again!
This time it's traffok.cn it seems.
Is it only a coincidence that FoG resurrected this thread with his combat anti-this-virus and now the virus is back? Maybe the hacker looks over at HC and got annoyed?
But I think it's unlikely and it's just a coincidence.

Whew. I don't have that DLL file, the SYS_SENT, or the Acrobat Reader popup. Thanks, Noscript.

What about making some HC reserve forum at invasionfree or something, if HC gets real problems...

Meh.... just got that installer thingy... I think I stoped it before it did anything (pulling the trigger with your left foot ftw!) but now I can't visit HC via internet explorer anymore which sucks... Any suggestions?

It looks that the virus comes from divinets.cn and xdrv.info, but it probably doesn't play a role, or?

sucks? I think it is high time you choose a different browser
Firefox with NoScript (addon, you have to download separately) can block that thing but you won't be able to send HCMs (you can allow it anytime, send it, then block again if you need).

you don't have to block the whole site. The "new" pages will automatically get blocked when they appear. At least that's how it works for me and I don't have any pdf popups.

Yep it happened again, unfortunately during my night time. Now that I know what it does every time and have all the files prepared it takes me only a few min to clean it up. Right now I'm a bit too busy to find a permanent solution, but hopefully will have a chance to get to it soon.
To dispel some misconceptions:
1. This is not being done by one of the HC members. It is an attack that affects many completely unrelated servers in a specific datacentre. Nobody is "watching" HC or trying to bring it down, relax. Whoever is doing it might not even know that HC exists.
2. Aim of the attack seems to be to infect site users through exploiting a security hole in Adobe Acrobat Reader (not to bring down the site). Hence a possible solution may be to remove the .pdf file to Acrobat Reader association on your computer, or to change it to some other program like a text editor. This will add some hassle to opening PDF files but should keep you safe.

You can wait for others to do it, but if they don't know how, you'll wait forever.
Be an example of what you want to see on HC and in the world.

Hmm... the PDF idea is kinda nice... though I don't want to risk anything, better stick to Noscript anyway, I've gotten used to it now.

And right now I am blocking "about.blocked?e=malwareBlocked&u=http%3A//www.heroesofmightandmagic.com
when its usualy just heroesofmightandmagic.com

If you had an Anti virus program up then wouldn't that tell you automatically if a virus is on your computer?
