Why did you stop playing heroes online?

I stopped because it had already taken away 3-4 years of my life to get to a point where i realised i had just wasted the last 3-4 years of my life. Miss u guys but your no good for me. Ciao

Well, if it takes lot of time - play less. But why need to officially retire? Nobody is on a contract, so no need of official statement.

Lots of people "quit" playing, only to play several months later.

I played a lot this game until people found that the game was too based on luck, so they decided to change it.

They made dozens of rules. After that they stated that fixed maps were boring and created templates which were memorized thousand times better than fixed maps. Then they stated what they think would be honourable so another dozen of rules appeared. My long date friends quitted the game, so I had no more my dishonourable fellow partners to share dirty and coward tactics; it was time to move on.

It's not official retirement/statement ... it's just sharing thoughts

Luckily enough H4 wasnt actually a game and before H5 came out i was back in real life.

So thats when i stopped playing this game, now after 2,5 years im on my way to the first million to come ;P

Addiction indeed! I still find myself considering aspects of the game as you obviously also do Xarfax.

Hi all, as our new baby boy is on the way, less than 3 weeks from now, i sadly have to say that this wonderfull game will be just history for me. Already tried in the last year to stop playing it but it's very hard...way too hard to do it. As more you want to quit it the more addicted you become!
I started to play it in early 2005 (very late, dindt like it at all when i first saw it) in local area network (didnt have such a good connexion that time), and wanted more and more to play for a tournament online but couldnt..I remember that time i thought best combination was Necro/Thant (what a noob!) and was playing all the time standard 3do map with friends from my city, very fast turns and long games (several months).
In 2006 i joined LRH (thx to cpcos for everything), very nice site and good engine, which was quite active at that time and enjoyed it a lot. My gameplay developed a bit from game to game, many nights "wasted" untill morning, many dreams about tactics, many games played..but not enough.
End of 2006 i started to play for WCL also, TOH was already assaulted by h5 players.
So I played more and more games day by day, in 2007 for LRH and WCL, was interrested in meeting and playing vets or good players or noobs, didnt matter that time as the game was so fascinating!
In 2008 LRH activity was so low and almost nobody wanted to play for it (that's a pity!) so i sticked to WCL (thx to SAG for sustaining it alive), luckyly some of old TOH vets returned for a game or two, had the opportunity to play them and what good games were they!
In the summer of 2008 for about 3-4 months I took my time everyday in reading all "Library of Enlightement" page by page, day by day. Was hard to keep up to all the info written here but was nice theory to put in practice!
At end of 2008 i registered to heroes.by in searching for new good players (not that i was bored of ppl i knew!) and shared a few games around there too. I remember i used a russian-english translator online cuz .by forum was all in russian hehe..
Starting 2009, as my wife got pregnant, i was thinking more and more what to do to play less..uninstalled dozens of times h3 from computer but installed it back over and over again
I can say 2007 and 2008 were the most active years to my online games, hours and hours of strategies, planning, tactics etc etc, looking for new ppl on GS, GR, Hamachi etc.. trying to play everyone who was interested in a game. That was all i wanted: to play more and more ppl eachday. I remember in my Yahoo Messenger list there were aroud 250 contacts from all over the world
But...the time has come to put it to an end, and if i wont do it now i will never be able to do it later!
What a GREAT TIME i had!
Want to thank you all for playing those wonderfull games i had, vets or noobs (doesnt matter that now) and for all the time i spent with you buddies in learning how to improve my style.
Never said i am good player, always been modest.
Thanks all for fair play and special thanks to Maretti - best player around those days
Take care all and ofc GLHF!
The same, the old, the NEW Sorin Dobrea - aka sachelos
Regards,

@late edit: maybe nobody cares about my thoughts and what i said, i dont mind, maybe somebody been there done this already, just wanted to express my actual and future feelings ab it!

Mainly coz of H4 (and now 5), average boring games but TOH decided to support those instead, and many h3 friends moved on to other games instead.

Congrats mate! God bless your kid and let him give all the health and happines possible.

About your PP - yes, i have been there My son is 1 years old already.

Yes, i play less nowdays. But still there is evenings when i play.

I lost my hunger to follow records, to fight for top ranks, to develope to a super-master player. But i have enough online friends with whom i feel pleasure to share a game once in a while.

Believe me, in the first months since the baby is born - you will have lots of time. You only need to change a diaper, or prepare some milk, but otherwise there is not much you can do. The baby should be sleeping most of the times.

After 7-8 months or a little later when the baby becomes more active your time will be more limitted. But still - the baby should get to sleep early, so you still will have 2-3 hours for yourself in the evening.

Offcourse, with everybody its different. But my point is - life will change, but it will not be like going to prison So, dont make official retirements. I am sure you will be abble to catch us sometimes again.

I wish you all the best with your child Sach and I understand your position.

I dont know why I deserve a special thank but I appreciate it. I still remember that native jebus game where I broke 126. You seemed a bit shocked that time, hehe. Maybe you found out that time who the best hero of H3 is. At least your (former) avatar indicates it.
