Confessions of an Economic Hitman
This may be very interesting to view, and potentionally an eye-opener, to many people. This gives a whole different angle from which to view the global economic system. And I think it's quite important for as many people as possible to view.

Part 2
Part 3

Moonlith, lrn2summarize. I'm not going to watch three 20-minute long videos.
Anyway, I took a quick look at the first one. It's no secret that the US has funded coups and assassinations. But I really don't see what this has to do with capitalism. You know, initiation of force is against the principles of capitalism.

He wants to democratize capitolism rather than its current imperialistic capitolism. The natural resources of one country should go to the people of the country who owns it. Not the US.

Yes, and in reality it is not socialism but decency that stops one from initiating violence. Socialists can be corrupt too, you know.

I never said it can't be corrupt -- just look at the failed communism we had. What is the point I'm making, is that we can just as easily blame capitalism for corruption as we blame communism (with which I agree)... even if some say "that's not what capitalism advocates" -- well fine, corruption ain't what socialism advocates either

No system works perfectly but for the present capitalism has been proven the best.
Capitalism can work just fine if there weren't those greedy corporations. This guy's point was that corporations must be stopped from exploiting other countries. That is what they get their power from and that is why the power and prosperity is unevenly shared. It is not democracy.
If everything was shared with fair deal for everyone things wouldn't be so miserable and complainable.

I don't understand why you all think that corporations can't be corrupted -- this is the corruption of capitalism and exploit, just like the government is in communism, since otherwise socialism would be fine.
Just replace government with corporation.

I agree with that I think. One can argue you simply need more decency, honesty and democracy in capitalism, but those traits reduce profits. It's a fact. You do NOT earn money by being honest and decent. Corruption and poor morals are essentially build-in in capitalism - you cannot afford to have high morals or ethics if you wish to be succesfull. That's my biggest quarrel with capitalism.
I heard some top executive wouldn't get his 10 million bonus this year.... 10 million...
Mvass, I always hear you pronounce how Capitalism is good because people earn money dependant on their productivity.... What's the average salery of an employee? 20K a year?
10 million bonus...
How can you possibly justify such things?

Yeah, capitalism would also be just fine if every big guy would be generous and would wish only good for everyone. Some of them actually are, but then again, some not. But I think it is better that way: To have corruption in some corporations, when in socialism you just need one corrupted government and things are all messed up.

You don't have a clue how the world works. You can make money by working hard, honest, and decent by putting out quality product. America is built on small businesses, not big corporations, but on small businesses. And none of these would ever last if they didn't put out quality products and services.
I can tell you that there are big corporations out there that work hard to put out quality products and give people a better life. And they do it the right way. One that comes to mind is the farming equipment industry, like John Deere. Without their techonological advancements this world would be starving. You talk, but you know nothing.
You make me sick. You insult every person who has made an honest living as a businessman.

Do you know this person? Do you have evidence that this person did not work hard their entire life to make this kind of money? What sort of things did this person to do screw over everyone else?
Tell me please. I'd love to hear your answer.
Socialism is a lie that feeds off the jealousy of those who worked hard to become rich. You immediately assume that you are screwing over the little guy. I'm not convinced.
You want to take a look at china. Communism? There are big corporations in China and it's just as corrupt as America. I'd much rather have America as the world power than China.
My neighbor has told me stories about how people with high positions in China have had penthouse sweets as an office. Even though there are limited profits in China, doesn't mean the people on top aren't corrupt.
There will be corruption in any economic system.

What about Microsoft then? Consider the exploits and holes and bugs in their products, why are people using it? Oh wait, they achived monopoly and is straggleholding the marked.
Linux cannot be bought in any way, image a country that is impossible to highjack for a company. Oh the panic! I guess that explains alot

Yeah, Bill Gates worked and still works really hard -- let's compare him to some person who actually is working at MS now, a simple programmer that does all the job -- and is paid mediocre (compared to Bill) since otherwise of course he wouldn't stand a chance (make his own company), it's called competition and business.
I know one particular person who didn't work "as hard" if you logically take what someone rich earns and divide by what an "average" citizen earns -- and then you multiply the effort and hard work the "average" citizen puts by that factor, you should arrive at how much effort and hard work should that rich person put, but usually it's an order of magnitude higher than what he does.
