Thumbs up to NWN2: Storm of Zehir
I'm pleased with this game so far, although it better suits my tastes which vary from person to person.
You don't meet party members as you go, you simply create your main character and 3 other characters at the start and use them without any extra backstory. I like this because I don't have to wait to get what I need, and because I enjoy creating and controlling characters based on how I want them, so completely controlling 4 instead of just 1 is fun for me.However, you still can meet cohorts on the way as extras, so you can still 'gain party members in your travels' in a sense.
The game is a different style from previous D&D games. There is a world map which you literally travel on rather than simply clicking on your destination, like it was has been with previous D&D games. You can spot encounters in your travels, as well as miscellaneous things such as abandoned wagons, crypts, special berries, etc... This allows for skills like spot, hide, listen, and survival to come more into play.
I enjoy the atmosphere of the game itself as well. It takes place in the hot, xenophobic jungles of Chult, when you're party shipwrecks into it's coast at the very beginning. Pretty enjoyable game so far, although it hasn't matched up to Baldur's Gate 2, which remains my #1 favorite RPG.
Hope you enjoyed the review.

Nice short review, although I did know this from other sources. Well I'm the opposite here. I like party members to have their own 'life' and not just be some meat-shields or provide some extra power and that's it... so I don't like this feature of SoZ.
I did plan to play it though, but first I have to play NWN 2 and then MoB, I didn't play it before because of my old PC who couldn't run it and now when I have the new PC I'm too busy to play it. What luck, huh?
