Best Upgrades

  Which creatures upgrades are the best?

  I would say that the ones with BIG changes, like a unit starts to shoot, or does double hit/shot. So these are the best upgrades for me:

1)Giant -> Titan - I don't really need to explain.
2)Gremlin -> Master gremlin - They start to shoot
3)Wolf riders -> Wold Raiders - Double hit
4)Swordsmen -> Crusader - Double hit
5)Wood elf -> Grand elf, Archer -> Marksman - Double shot
6)Gorgons -> Mighty Gorgons - Death Stare

The others are mostly regular ones - grow of stats, nothimg special.


Agree, don't agree, have something to add?

I think the best is Behemoth to Ancient behemoth, double hp, double defense drop, and ancients hit like a truck.

Also remebered some more cool Upg.

Roc -> Thunderbird - the Lightining bolt ability can become your winning card! If it works.

Vanpire -> Vampire lord - The Life Suck is very annoying feature to fight against.

what about

Archer ->  Marksman

Ogre -> Ogre Magi  (40 to 60 HP)

Harpy  -> Harpy Hag  (no retaliation)

and what about "neccessary" upgrades?  What creatures should not be let out without upgrading? My vote goes to

Pixie -> Sprite

You guys have named half of the creatures.  Which one is the best?  Rych, you're right, darn you.  Ancient Behemoths are even better than Titans as the upgrage.

Titans vs. Ancient Behemots:

hp: double vs. almost double

Attack: 5 points up vs. 1 point up

Defence: 9 points up vs. 2 points

Speed: from 7 to 13 vs. from 6 to 7

Of course the Tiatans are 'expensive' to upgrade, nevertheless without that upgrade they are completely worthless.

The same applies to Gremlins. Without the upgrade its the worst lvl1, but upgraded Gremlins are maybe not the best but definately most usefull lvl1 creature.

Hard to say between AB & Titan

Those two along with V-lords probably the best upgrades overall. The AB's also get -80% defense reduction compared to -40% before upgrade.

I would go with AB first, it's the cheapest and most easily accomplished, so... Titan very nice, but how many can you afford to buy after getting that upgrade compared to AB's?

well the dread knights upgrade is pretty normal... but the artwork is so much better than the normal ones.  Also i'm not sure if they get double strike damage un-upgraded. and on top of that i think they go up 20 hp don't they??? maybe not.. but their speed increases alot and their attack/defense value is almost the same as the ghost dragon!!!  i think its off by one.

dread's upgrade:  speed and double damage ability (chance = 20%)

my vote goes with ALL the tower units except maybe gargoyles.

why do u need to build a RESOURCE SILO before Muu's get mighty??

doesn't make too much sense to me, except maybe 3do just wanted to make them difficult to get?

AB gets 40% more in an ability they alredy have.

Titans on the other hand aquire ability to shoot!

I understand that you are taking all the things into considaration:

- money

- resources

- units attributes & skills

I agree with you that money&res. make Titans upgrade possible on rich maps only.

But the question was what is the best upgrade.

I still say it is Titans b/c they gain an incredible attribute&skill boost!

The upgade changes a completely worthless unit into one of the best of 7th lvl units.

Remember that this thread is about upgrade only, and not the whole strategy of managing your heroes/units/money and resources!

BTW Vampire Lords are also among the best upgrades possible, maybe even the best

1. Titan. Shooting, no melee penalty, big speed/attack/defense boost, double health. I don't understand how anyone could say this isn't #1.
2. V-Lord. +1/3 health and self-regenerating.
3. Ancient B. Almost double health and a seriously nasty special.
4. Mighty Gorgon. The mighty Death Stare.
5. Archangel. Resurrection plus some huge bonuses to speed, attack, and defense.
6. Efreet Sultan. Like Royal Griffins, there's no safety in ganging up on them. Unlike them, it does some serious damage even when the stack is small.
7. Harpy Hag. Essentially a limited-range shooter immune to Forgetfulness with no melee penalty and unlimited ammo.
8. Crusader. Double strike.
9. Zealot. Now they're actually good for something after they're blocked off.
10. Ogre Mage. 50% more health makes you not want to mess with them.

Honorable Mentions: Sprite, Storm/Ice Elemental, Master Gremlin, Master Genie, Grand Elf, Marksman, Pit Lord, Cerberus, Dragon Fly, Scorpicore, Royal Griffin

an important upgrade, not nearly most inportant, is from bone dragon to ghost dragons.

speed from 9 to 14 ... BIG difference
150 to 200 HP ... good
aging ability ... could win u a game.

ghost dragons are a great unit to split into multiple stacks of 1 each.  Same applies with dragon flies, wyvern monarchs, scorpicores (all because of their specialty), and maybe unicorns. ... and of course, master genies / ogre magi for different reasons.

3do knew that when your using a fortress you need all the wood you can get.. AND .. they know that any good heroes player will always upgrade the cows.. so.. thats why

Ancient Behemoth is better than a titan.. (will not win a 1o1 fight, well unless he gets morale ) but an arch angel won't win vs an arch devil in 1o1 either .. and I think we all know the better unit there.

I also think that the devil - arch devil upgrade is extremely important. Those Arch Devils can be very hard to catch!

::ude, you might want to check your stats for Behemoths again. Behemoth's speed goes from 6 to 9. Attack and defense both go up 2 points.

At least I can tell you're amazingly biased pro-Tower.  I ain't mad at you for that.  You just haven't felt the wrath of 3 Behemoths breathing down your neck week 2 when you *might* have Nagas. *winks mischeiviously*
