My grandma had a dream about a year ago, that her late mother (my grand-grandmother) came and told her how she forgot to pay the electricity bill.
Upon waking up she took a look and indeed the electricity bill was bound to be paid by tomorrow.
True story.
That does seem like something old grand-grandma would do. She was the only person able to keep our family at an organized level.
By the way, I believe you. I myself have a few reasons to believe that it's far from impossible that spirits (at least of some kind) exist. And accounts from various people around me support that. Might talk about it a bit more, but I'm kinda tired right now.
Oh and, isn't there a thread like this in the OSM?

Cool stuff Father, you make me jealous. I had very few possible experiences with ghosts/spirits, and all of them were so short I couldn't even think rationally when happening.
Well I'll just copy-paste what I said in the Dream thread some time ago, since it was the only experience powerful enough to really make me consider it was 'true' (the ghost, I mean)Quote: One night I was dreaming something, not sure what, but I was hearing lots of voices and such... and after some time I woke up, and saw a woman in front of my bed... I was still very sleepy (about 75%) and I couldn't see perfectly, but I could definitely see it's a woman in front of my bed. Well, I tried to reach her with my hand but she dispersed into thin air. Then I was freaked out, my heart started to beat rapidly and I then realized I WAS AWAKE. Not even half-sleepy anymore, I was simply awake. I couldn't even sleep again for some time until I calmed down.
That was extremely weird if you ask me. Was it a ghost or something?

Ok, this is something that I've never told to anyone before.
I'm having a little sleepvalking-problem, and since I live in the fourth floor, it can get pretty dangerous. Once, I was dreaming I could fly, but no one was believing me. So I told everyone that they should come to this cliff, and I should show them that I really could fly. When I was just about to jump off the cliff, I heard someone whispering my name. I woke up, and found myself standing in front of my bedroom window that was somehow opened. And if that someone hadn't whispered my name, I would probably had jumped out of the window.

Can i have a horn of mead?
So... About 2 years ago me and my university buds were visiting the castle of Trakai. As the sun went down we heard some strange noises. Someone was walking in the courtyard. As we turned around to see what made the noises we saw a tall greyish figure. The figure was dressed like royalty and it somehow felt familiar to us. As my friend pulled out the camera, the figure vanished. We were scared at first, but later we heard that this figure has been there, well... forever. Old folks say that its the ghost of Duke Vytautas the Great roaming his old domain.

We were standing about 4 or 5 meters away from it. We thought that someone was making those noises as a prank. And how not to be scared? Imagine you turn around and see a ghost. Crappy feeling.
The castle of Trakai(Lithuania) is really worth seeing. If memory serves me right its the only castle in Europe built on an island. There are also medieval festivals held in there and last year Apocalyptica held a gig there.
But enough advertising.
In IX Fort of Kaunas there are also ghosts. The fort served as a nazi lager in WWII. If you walk in its dungeons you might hear the moaning of killed jews.

I had this scary experience once.
*pulls out a chair and grabs a coke.*
well I was home alone. my dad was working and my mom and my brothers was out buying dinner. It was in the middle of the day and the sun was shining. I was sitting in the couch watching TV when it started. the voice of an old woman echoed in the room. she called my name (I'm not gonna say my name so I just say carcity instead)
Caaarcityyy, she said. at first I thougt I had imagined it. but then I heard it again. Caaarcityyy. the voice was from an old lady and was loud as a scream but still was spoken in a normal old voice. this time I really freaked out. I quickly jumped in under the couch (I was 8 so I fitted underneath) and I stayed there for a really long time. 15 minutes after I went down under my mom and my brothers came home. and since then I have never been home alone.
I have another story that my mom told me.
when mom, dad and my big brother just had moved to this house (before I was born) there was a rabbit in the garden eating the flowers. my dad usually went to sleep after work in the afternoon. and my mom prepared coffe for him when she heard he was walking down the stairs. but many times she heard someone walk down the stairs and she had prepared the coffe only to find that he wasn't going downstairs. mom then went upstairs to find that he was still sleeping. this happened many times. mom told our neighboor about it and she said that she'd fix the problem. the neighboor then went to the grave of a woman who had died in the house some years ago (10-50). and after our neighboor had talked to the grave and asked the woman to stop. and you know of that rabbit I told you about earlier? It dissapeared the same day.

Fortunate or not, I've never seen one. I don't think belief has anything to do with the existence of such being. It may simply be that some persons have such experience, some don't. I've also heard that it's even connected to ability for someone to see. Not everyone is granted such a "gift." I suppose, Father, your deep grieve opened up a new dimension with the encounter of such being. For people like me, that might just never happen.
I have a sister who claims that she has several experience of seeing things. My mother with her evangelists group often perform "house cleansing" and some of her friends admitted that they saw. A place where I work has a section next to a small cemetery and I often go there at night (though not past midnight), but nothing I ever saw. My office colleagues also often tell stories of hearing something crystal clear at certain time around 6pm, despite being alone in a room. But I often work until 8 and still never had such experience.
But whatever, the lores must have some basis from where they originated from. (I like Supernatural, 4th season now? )
I'll post some scary stuffs that I've heard, i.e., 2nd hand stories, if they still classify as experience; those that made me shiver, just like some posts above.

Ok here's my copy-paste from that dream:
I never saw a ghost but I did hear "ghost voices" sometimes when I woke up, and it went really deep into me (much deeper than the 'ears' so to speak). Suffice to say it scared the **** out of me, and I didn't understand a thing (I guess it's because of the language? )
One of them said something like (in english pronunciation) "Toofaahn". I'm not sure if this is the correct pronunciation of what I heard, it's really hard to make the sounds in english (and that same word isn't romanian either, it doesn't mean anything, not even a normal name that I know of).
But the first time I heard a voice like that, it was a longer 'speech' and it was a female voice ("Toofaahn" was a very low, i guess male, voice).
It spooks me out.
I did a bit of research into "Tufan" (how it is pronounced in romanian, not in english , that is, 'tufan' is NOT pronounced as I heard it, in english), I found that it's some indian name that means "storm" or something like that... of course, this is assuming romanian pronunciation, which I highly doubt, giving the weird word (I'm not even sure if it is a name or what the hell).
Also lately I've been having weird (but cool) dreams and sometimes past 1:30 AM I usually hear a whisper or something even with my headphones listening to music -- this 'whisper' is short and I can't make anything (word?) out of it, I doubt it's even a word, not sure what it is. (could be my mind playing tricks but I highly doubt given my state, just trust me on it)

@Father: as a matter of fact (regarding the Tufan=storm issue), I forgot it was a while ago, I don't remember if there was a storm (though it was in Summer I think), and worst thing is that I only researched it this month.

*grabs a horn of mead*
Another story i'd like to share...
In my village where i've spent most of my summers, is a hauntead farmstead. About 15-16 years ago a quite wealthy old man(lets call him Pete) lived there. Pete had a very greedy daughter who never appreciated him. After he died from cancer his daughter easily spent all of his hard earned money and sold his house to a young farmer(lets call him Joe). As Joe moved in, his cattle becamed diseased, wheat field grew more weeds than grain, milk becamed sour etc. Joe said that Pete appeared in his dreams and told him to get the -beep- out of his home, 'cause he didn't built it just that his daughter could sell it. Even blessing of the entire area didn't help. Instead more trouble took place. Few days after the blessing the barn with 25 tons of hay burned down. Only when Joe bought another farmstead the troubles were over. And to this day Pete still resides in his home. It is said when you look at the windows of Pete's house you may see strange little lights in them or Pete's ghost walking around his property.
