How long is to long to Keep Save Games???
Just curious... I have about 4 saves with 4 different players.. and they are ALL honorable players and not saying that they are trying to avoid the games.. but due to real life issues and time zone conflicts... it seems that they are never online or it has been 4+ weeks now since those games were started... Is there a point where those games just should become void??
And what if one player wants to finish them because he or she was dominating and doesnt want to just forget game.
I hate to make someone report an unfinished game, but in some cases I hate to just cancel the game.. but some of the saves.. I cant even remember what town I was, let alone if I was doing good enough to request a report lol...
Just looking for general thoughts on this.

I have never asked for reports, if a save gets old I don't care but some may do. That's up to the individual and better discussed with your opponents.

If i were still active......you did say the players were honrable so possibly i would move them to a diffrent folder than contnue them when i saw them no matter how long that might be.

well
i have no problem continuing any game i saved
it really doesn't matter how long before i played it
and if i really don't remember anything ( not sure that it ever happen ) i have a game that i played so to finish it in half time than normal game is pretty good stuff
also things like i don't remember what i was doing is the worst excuse ever and i heard it few times
when u load game it's not that hard to see what you were doing,lol

For me TOH is more like meeting point for Heroes 5 fun's for play online for fun, as tournament ... look what chaos is in Caesar final  I don't see any reason to play vs players that begin game, play one hour and after ... cya in one month ...

If it's 4 weeks then I guess it's pretty normal. Unless you do nothing else in-between.

It's not an excuse, you just don't feel like continuing. I'd still resume out of respect for my opponent if he insisted but I'd feel bored.

Well dont get me wrong.. it doesnt bother me at all to finish saves after a long period of time.. was just wondering how long I should make sure I keep the saves... am I responsible to keep track of saves for 6+ months.. do I have to worry about accidentally deleting the save.. etc etc. As it is now... I have to keep the list of my saves in my MSN message just to remember lol

i'm not saying it's normal to know your games after anytime ,i forget the next day what i was doing
but the thing is i started the game and i guess that i played best i could at that time so i can't get why would anyone want to start new 1 since it isn't that hard to think what you were doing in that game
ofc if we played 1 week and after 4 months 1 doesn't want's to continue i have no problem with that (although i would play that save also),but if we played like 3+ weeks it means we can finish the game much faster than the new 1 so i like to finish my saves( not that happend very often)

I wasn't proposing it'd be accepted as an excuse, I was just saying it's understandable if we have difficulty recalling those been left for weeks. If the save is there after long period of time, yeah, why not resuming rather than starting a new one. But some have a tolerance for 4 weeks, some for 6 months... I mean if your friend came back after 6 months and said, "Hey let's continue that one" and you replied "Sorry but the save has gone" does your friend have any right to be upset?
I guess just make a standard of your own (which seems that's what Jinxer is trying to do by requesting your opinions), and be known of it. That way people would know your preference and consequently "how" to play with you.

When games get old enough its always more fun to start a fresh one anyways, i guess we have a save with a grey beard now Jinx, and to me we could count it as dead. Tbh i could easily report loss aswell, since i have been "unplayable" almost all the time.

Well Fraud... outta all my saves.. you were one of my saves that I was NOT worried at all about.. Yes we have a VERY old save. But when me and you enter into a game we do so knowing we have timezone conflict and hard to meet up..
I dont mind finishing old saves at all... just I agree with you that after tooo long.. it is almost better to just forget the game and start a new one. I think our game was only in week 2 anyways.
But I have a couple saves that are well past week 4 stage.. Those are the ones I am really trying to figure out what to do with....

Well i had quite few saves where i have finally had a good hero and army and after some times the saves either got corrupted or the ppl are never online to finish them.Notice i got 6wins n 59lose but i can't get my win rating because of this so next time someone that never shows up again when i msg him wanna play i will take a step back.As far as me i would even kill my sleeping time to finish the game.

its always better to start a fresh game rather than play an old save. especially if it was a game that you were losing.

Here is another senerio.....
Some of my saves... when I started them vs. my opponent.. we BOTH were ranked about the same with similar points... And since then.. I have gained 400 points. So now I go from possibly losing 20pts to possibly losing 45pts for the same game lol.. Or maybe was gonna win 30pts and now only gonna win 5 points

From my point of view,I've had many games with many differents players, all honorable, but, when I couldnt finish a game I always asked if they want my report...as simple as that.
Most of the cases (99%) players wanted me to report, all of them at my request.
But as Fiur say all the time, a game should stay as a game, and the record we all have dont show the reality ... I really believe that.
Some of the games could be the worst loss, but after that u can have a great victory!
That's all about the charm in Homm, and should stay like this!
