Summoning at the adventure map
Have you ever played Age of Wonders? If so, you'll easily understand me.
This thread is about summoning creatures right on adventure map. Sounds interesting? Well, what I wanted to say is that it would be cool if hero can summon stacks of creatures to his army by decreasing his mana points (of course this creatures will not dissapear untill the die. But their quantity is less then quantity of creatures summoned on the battlefield. BTW I think why not to make "special" units for summoning?). Quantity of summoned creatures depend from "Summoning magic" skill mastery and hero's spellpower.
And maybe another good idea for H6, which is complicated with previous is that you have to pay for units you have. Not very much money, or you'll soon have nothing, but some small quantity, which will make you to hire army wisely. And units of other fractions take more money. Of course your "money" halls in cities will bring more money per turn. And summoned creatures take the mana points from hero per each turn. That will make game more interesting.
That's all I wanted to say.

Won't make it abusable for a Wizard with high mana near a Mana Well? Summoning lots of creatures every day...
Maybe if the summoned creatures have a lasting time? Let's say, one week and then they unsummon? That could work to prevent abuses

In the Disciples games you summoned an army wich consisted of one creature (power depending on the level of the spell), and the creature would dissapear when it died or the next day. I think they were mainly used for weakening guards or taking down weak but annoying enemy heroes. If something similar could be added to H6 it wouldn't be too overpowered. Or maybe you could use up movement on summoning creatures, that way you would be unable to overuse it.

If you had to pay over time for your creatures, maybe they should be cheaper to recruit in the first place.
Great ideas

Your idea is great and like it . It some what reminds me an old very old game Master of Magic. In that game in one town you had an summoning circle where you could summon an creature or creatures. So i would agree that something like that could be implemented.
The hero summoning speed is dependandt upon summonig, sorcery masteries and spellpower and knowledge and place where it summons(in towns and higher mage guilds increase speed). The more stronger creature the more time you have to spend to actually summon it.
Of course they will need mana from heroes reserves to be alive
Maybe it's and idea for a new facton and it's special racial ability

Thanks for your comments. Yes, I think hero need to lose his movepoints to summon creatures. It would be more balansed.

Thought about that.

I would like this implemented if this would be taken into account. This way, abuses might be avoided and the creatures do not have to disappear after a day or a week.
I think there was a nature ability that did something similar in Heroes IV, but was quite useless due to the low number of summoned creatures.
