Sorry for the late reply, I keep forgetting that "Pam" is me

I guess the things I am thinking of, is the preservation and pride in history. Here in Canada we have Canada day, and different holidays here and there but the general focus seems to be more an excuse to take a day off work and have some beers, rather than celebrate our own culture.

Because Canada is so multicultural, there are lots of different events usually going on within different cultural communities, and they are often found celebrating where they 'come from' but I don't feel there is enough celebration of our own history and accomplishments in Canada. There is such deep history in the Balkan countries, and there has been so much war and sadness - yet still there is a pride that is upheld, and a remembrance through dance, and song etc , that I think is wonderful

And while this opinion is based on nothing but my perception (I'm not going to pretend to have extensive knowledge of Balkan history - I have always felt that there is a greater appreciation for family and togetherness, and that people were of a more earthen nature.

I find that too often here there is a need to mass produce, and acumlate as much as we can, as quickly as we can. We have less appreciation for detail and put less care in the things we do (speaking of clothing, jewelery, artwork etc) This even applies to food, we are always so busy advancing, and hurrying towards the 'next thing' that I feel we take away from ourselves.

So I guess what I envy is a more natural approach, in that respect.

So yeah... i don't think I expressed myself so well, but hopefully at least you get the gist of it.

My question goes to Jebus:

What is the cruelest, most devastating practical joke you have ever pulled on someone? All the details please

well here goes...

im more of a "you come after me and I'll get you back 10fold" kinda guy.....

my earliest memory of this was at on a school trip, were got into this water fight and my teacher ran at me with a little hand pistol and sprayed me persistantly...  so I took off and found a 20L bucket and filled it up, waited for him around the corner and ATTACKED!!!
.. he was pretty peeved and instead of staying in the wet clothes (in was freakin' hot) to dry, he got changed in his pants and poutted for the rest of the day!

in highschool, the same thing...  water gun fight...  one girl got the hose and was spraying us all ... me and a buddy got 2 pitchers each of water and as she was comming into the cottage (down a hall) we bombarded her to the point she was wet to the bone.

here's one that i instagated...  my buddy (who always claims that he never sleeps during movies, fell asleep early, so i pulled out my beared trimmer and trimmed half his GO-T...  i was gonna have at his eyebrows but thought better of it!  he woke up in jolt from the noise of the electric shaver (that i hid instantly) and he never new what happened until later that night!

Lastly....
I like to stand really close to the washroom door when my gf's there....  once she opens the door she FREAKS OUT!!!

ok that's more than one.....

(ill come back with a question in a bit)

EDIT:
My question goes to Lee (aka Lkru)...
livin' in "Dee-troit rock city" (no prejudice on my part) have you ever had an encouter that was gang related and if not what was the scariest incident you've ever encoutered??

Well, I am not a participant in this game, but I will give you an answer Jebfoo

I do NOT live in Detroit, but rather a nice suburban town called Plymouth.  I have never encountered any gang related incidents, but do see an occasional shooting when I watch the local news (not sure whether or not it is gang related though).  In my mind, Detroit isn't much different from any other major US city where crime and gang related events could occur.  Sometimes it is easier to say you are from Detroit when talking to people who are not familiar with the area (for Geographical purposes).

As a non participant, I will leave the next question to be asked by someone who is playing the game

I would privatize Social Security in hopes that maybe I’d get something from it by the time I reach retirement.  The problem with getting this through congress today, for Bush and anyone who supports it, is that everyone in congress will not be affected by it.  They’ll probably be dead by the time it matters.  Young people like me are the ones that are going to be hurt by this flawed program in the future.
In the polls on the issue it shows older adults firmly against the Social Security plan, while younger adults are in support of it.  I’m not even sure why the 60 year-old’s vote should count on this as they’ll be long dead by the time the change will really matter.  Oh yeah, because this Is America, that’s why they matter.

Immigration is out of control in the US, not the legal immigration, but the illegal immigration.  I would try to use the National Guard in cooperation with the Border Patrol too keep the borders closed to illegals.

With Iraq, I don’t see much more to be done there.  I would definitely not pull the troops out immediately, that’s just foolish.  I would continue to improve schools, police and the military in Iraq.

Not much of a platform to run a campaign from, but it’s all I have on such short notice.

Question to first taker:

If you could meet any historical figure, ever, for an afternoon, who would it be and why?  What would you talk about?

I would choose to meet Jesus. Not because I am some religious freak or even remotely Catholic anymore, but because I would want to hear the man speak myself...not through the filter of generations of story-telling and church-misinterpretations.

I would want to hear his messages of peace, love, and joy straight from the source and try to sense the energy that must have simply radiated from the man.

+++My questions is for Gorman:

Did you ever swear at your parents when you were younger?

If so, how did they react?

If not, did you ever swear at anyone in a position of authority (teacher, priest, etc.)?

I made the mistake once when I directed it at my father. To me, he deserved it. However, as I look back on the moment I deserved the punishment I got

If so, how did they react?

I was grounded from certain pleasurables. Made to do more work and less to eat at times.

If not, did you ever swear at anyone in a position of authority (teacher, priest, etc.)?

*grins* Teachers, bosses....uhm....I'm not sure...do lousy cooks at restaurants count? But yeah, I have the tendency to swear quiet a bit....that probably will change if I get into the National Gaurd as I plan to.

Question for Wolfman
If you were born and raised never knowing your parents, and you become famous at the age of thirty and ...uhm....come up with about forty some thousand people all claiming to be your parents, what would your reaction be? Would you attempt to FIND your biological parent's? And what sort of famous thing would you be doing?

I would not try to find who my biological parents were.  With everyone saying they are, what's the point?  What's the likelyhood of you choosing the right people?
I would of course become the youngest member of the House of Representatives at the age of 25 and a major political player in Washington at 30.

Hey Wolf

Sorry I never responded to your question -- I just saw it the first time a few minutes ago.

I would absolutely not want my son to go into the military.  Unfortunately I know he would make a really good warrior.

Don't get me wrong.  I admire, respect and support our military folk tremendously.  I just anticipate increasing, largely unnecessary global destabilization and don't want him to die.

I'll leave it at the last question posted above.

Christmas is the day when Jesus burns.
It's a period when it's common to read that people are better than usual. (I think it's a commercial fake to sell more things: each person has to be good all the year...)
It's a period when we have to eat a lot... (cakes, candies, panettone...), when we have make presents...

I don't think this is way Xmas shoud be lived...
It should be a period in which we have time to have a talk and enjoy our parents, to remind the value of being in a family...

well, next question: it's for the first taker.
how did you come back to work/study after these festivities?

Christmas....the day after

Honestly, I acted like every other regular day, no longer caring it had been Christmas, just a bit stuffed with food from the evening before, which caused some ''problems''. But I guess you don't want to know about those .
I realized it had been Christmas, I was pleased with my present, and that day was over fpr me, you might say.
Just as having a birthday actually, just without the feeling you got older the day after.

For the first taker :

Ofcourse Jesus was not born on the 25th of December. "Christmas" was moved to it's date to follow the old Celtic and pagan traditions of Celebrating the Winter Solsitce. The true birth date of Christ is not known but the date was set just to make it more apealing to the wide public... The winter solsitce celebrations were very popular and had deep roots in the society...

I lied to one of my profs in grade school, grade 5. It's a very long story and it doesn't have much meaning, but here is the reason why I'd want to apologize:

I've never forgotten about that incident in grade 5. It was all a bad misunderstanding, and I've carried it with me all my life. I think about it now and then and I wish I could just let my teacher know what really happened. Everytime I read about apologising, I think of that moment.
