@veco: lol is that off-screen cause Agent Smith had a pretty stoic appearance
Quote: Who have been your biggest influences politically, economically, and philosophically (besides yourself, of course)?
Despite what you may think about my 'socialism' or 'communism' ideas, I disagree with Marx in a lot of ways. He therefore didn't influence me much, probably not at all (that doesn't mean he didn't say some stuff I agree with, but that doesn't have to influence me).
Hmm if I think about it, it's a bit hard to answer. I guess most of it came from myself and contemplating/imagining stuff, or experiences (both real, which are somewhat rare, and from the 'media'). It is kinda weird if you ask me: even if I quote someone who may have some of the points that I agree with, I actually found about that after I had my views on that and said to myself "this guy thinks like me?". It is really strange, and most (psychologists) would say I was influenced by them, when in fact I only found about them after my viewpoints (well my viewpoints are the key to finding them anyway, let's say via looking at articles/books/googling/whatever).
Also few movies & games have inspired me as well to give me a viewpoint (especially those with a factor of politics/trade/economy/whatever, not stuff like Quake ofc). Make no mistake however: I can be 'influenced' by negative aspects as well: for example, I see someone torturing someone else for pleasure -- I may be influenced by that in the sense that I grow to despise that behavior, not that I agree with. Not everything that influenced me is necessarily something I agree with, it could be the exact opposite. The thing is that they all put me to think.
(did I tell you I think too much? I can't even fall asleep fast, even while lying in bed).
sometimes I feel it's innate
Maybe i'm Stalin's follower (j/k )
So to answer your question briefly: no one individual did, but ideas. (that is true even in philosophy btw)

Hmm oh yeah I forgot...
My question is for william: Have you ever had any training into music? (not necessarily school). Do you bother to learn all the details of the synthesizers with scripting, programming or mathematically, or do it out of "experience" by knowing how certain parameters affect the sound and make it "by ear"?
(probably this is a poorly formed question )
(in my case, I learn details because I am a geek and want to know my tools to the core, but I don't really had any training apart from self-teaching, the best way IMO )

I did do music as a subject in school (but it was a compulsory subject) in year 7 and 8 and then I stopped doing it after that because all we ever did was guitar, and I was alright at it but we did it so much to the point that I got tired of the subject. I learnt mainly basic things, which I forgot about as the years went on but then learnt again when I studied it by myself. I did do about 2 or 3 lesson with keyboard last year but I didn't like it too much and therefore I stopped.
I first started music with computers in 2001 or so when I came across some music program (real basic and I forget the name ). I mainly did that for a while, while also learning basics of recording (line out/line in etc). After a while, I came across Fruity Loops version 2 if I recall correctly. I wasn't really too good at it, and I found it, at first, to be quite a hard program to use (I think I was about 13 when I first used it). In around 2004, I got FL Studio 4 off some disc that came with a magazine. This is where my music making really picked up and it was then when I first started making real music. I kept using the program, eventually upgrading versions up to what I have now and I have learnt many things while using it. Along the way, I've also tried out other programs but nothing has been as good as FL Studio.
I do have a few hardware synthesizers that I don't really use anymore (I'm gonna try and have another go at them someday) which I used to use quite a lot to make very long improvised songs.
I try and learn the details of synthesizers, and also of sounds. I usually analyse the sounds in songs and am usually able to pick up what kind of synthesizer it may have come from and what type of oscillators it may use or what type of effects it might have (like flanger, phaser, digital delay etc). I can make my own sounds with synthesizers (both hardware and software) and this usually comes from me changing the parametres, but I also know the technical sides of all of that as well.
For the most part, I basically taught myself how to make music, and I'm glad for that since I do things the way I want and I can make it sound the way I want. Did that answer your question properly?
My question goes to Izzy
You're new here and all, but what do you find best at this forum so far? Do you like the members and the posts that are usually made here? Do you think you'll be staying for a long time?

for my answer, the members here are pretty cool so far. i haven't really been here long enough to get a real feel for anyone other then elvin and antipaladin who i've talked to a little bit. everyone has been nice and helpful to me which has kept me coming back. that and the jokes and funny threads. will i stay? who knows. i came to this site on accident and have stuck around so far. ^_^

you would enjoy that wouldn't you -_-
soooooo sorry guys. i forgot to ask a question. i can't really think of anything creative right now so this will be to whoever answers first.
let's say a tv production company knocked on your door and said it was up to you to create a new show that would reach a demographic of ages 17 - 40 incorporating comedy and sci-fi. what would your show be about? what is it called?

If you could make a movie, any movie, hire any cast you want, have any budget you want. What would your movie be called? What would it's genre be? What actors? What would be the outline of the script?

But you're only allowed to if you responded, so don't worry. I'm interested in your reply and the game isn't going anywhere
