Michael Jackson will perform live as a final curtain call on career

After keeping his fans waiting for a press conference for a good 1 hour and 30 minutes, Michael Jackson finally showed up for a 2 minute statement minutes ago.

He will be performing "the songs the fans want to hear" at some as yet unspecified number of concerts in July in London. This will be the final curtain call.

Just to let you know if anybody still cared about his music.

He used to be cool, but it all went bad after Bad. Also, the whole scandal about him having molested a child has brought us all countless minutes/hours of entertainment and hilarity.

He had a quite unique (girly) singing voice and a few pretty cool dance moves (grabbing oneself's crotch not included). He will be remembered fondly in music's great history.

I have been practising moonwalking for some time now and I think I've got the hang of it.

Here are a few links I find appropriate for the occasion:

Much like a backwards version of the Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader metamorphosis, he went from totally awesome, to totally gay. Except that they both did go from normal looking to horrible physical mutilation in the same order.
I do love his stuff, though.

I love his music. I agree with others above in that he went from cool to gay, but I try to focus more on his music than what he is now, and for me, his music is awesome. I love Thriller.

Of course he is awesome.

I saw him live twice back in 1997, and even if he had been on the downhill slide for about 5 years at that time (I still consider Dangerous to be his best album!), he was still way out of leage of about anyone else.

Sadly, I don't really think that holds true anymore. These days, he seems increasingly less in touch with reality for each passing year (and each passing trial!), so personally, I don't think these shows will be up to his previous standard. But I could wish for him that they will come to start as a fitting memorial over a unique career.

Wise words... I must say I have no respect for what he's become after all the child molesting and the "losing touch with reality" stuff. But I think it is important to look at him in two different aspect.
The musician who was truly wonderful (and an incredible dancer. He's father of some many things (dance moves for all those of you who want to quote me out of context) in the modern dance world) and well... the confused (right word?) individual he is.
But as a musician you can't but give the guy credit for what he's done.
