SimonaK's NCF Creatures functional tests (Editor/Game)

Test Conditions
===============
Windows XP OS plateform
TotE 3.1 Version Game
UserMODS folder entirely empty (normally others mods may be used in same time as NCF)
The 3 files of NCF Creatures Framework well-installed http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=27113
Most recent versions of each NCF creature are used
All files concerning NCF Creatures have « .pak » as extention and are present in Heroes data folder.
Tests made 11 to 22 march 2009
Each NCF Creature was put in the adventure map in the NCF Editor from the list panel and was fought in the game.
209 NCF Creatures were tested.

NCF Creature Installation Procedure
===================================
1 - Downloading of NCF mod file.
If the extention is « .pak » then put it in Heroes data folder. Installation finished.
If The extention is « .h5u » then rename it to « .pak » and put it in Heroes data folder. Installation finished.
2 - The NCF mod file is a « .zip »
Open it. if GameMechanics folder is visible inside then close it, rename it to « .pak » and put it in Heroes data folder. Installation finished.
3 - The NCF mod file is a « .zip » but there is not the GameMechanics folder OR the NCF mod file is a « .rar »
If there is UserMODs folder then extract it and rename all files inside ( « .zip » or « .h5u ») to « .pak »
and put them in Heroes data folder.
If there is data folder then extract the contents in Heroes data folder.
If there is Complete or Editor folder then extract it Heroes root folder.
Installation finished.

Legend of Test Codes
====================
NCF Editor crash
When this NCF Creature is installed in data folder, the NCF Editor crashs while
it's creating monsters list panel. But in the game, the creature is without bug.
Bad infos in NCF Editor
The NCF Creature appears in NCF Editor's monters list panel but it doesn't have an icon,
has a bad icon or (rare) its name is not good or unknown.
But in the game, the creature is without bug.
No NCF Editor support
The NCF Creature doesn't have a link to NCF Editor so it doesn't appear into
but is playable in the game.
No ScriptID
The NCF Creature doesn't have a scriptID allowing to use it in scripts.
So only the slot number may be use to reference it.
GamePlay Modified
When the NCF is installed, it may modify original gameplay values as spells, name skills or
other things and these modifications are not clearly exposed in the thread of the corresponding NCF.
Danger
This NCF Creature must be avoided because there are serious bugs inside which
are able to alterate the game.
Hillfort crash
When the NCF is brought to the Hillfort to upgrade it. The game crashs and back to Windows
even if the upgrade is present. Moreover generally to bring an upgrade to the Hillfort
to change the upgrade does not work anymore.
No Camera support
There is not a specific camera for the NCF Creature into its consulting or hiring window.
So the NCF Creature appears too far in the field.
NOTE
RTMG is able to fix all , , , and bugs while it's importing the NCF but it was not used for present tests.

inside of this mod. Name and Desc of Chain Lightning and Avatar of Death are also modified.
Sovereign's name modified.
Fauch's 3rd upgrades pack is a real must for the game. Nice work, a lot of variety of creature abilities. don't avoid it!

actually my creatures add a new level of mastery to some spells, but don't alter the existing levels of mastery.
oh yes, call lightning, presence of the storm and explosion have been modified. Fire chain and avenging flames too.

That's true that takes a looot of time to fix it.
It's not like never I spoke of this bug to you in your own thread of.
Moreover you can benefit of this time to add editor icon to all of your NCFs.
Idea: you should create just a pack for your upgrades of elementals.

Ya, I know that some spells modifications is perhaps just for the adding mastery.
But all files inside of a NCF mods which are not a mechanic part of the creature is signaled. (textures, animations, sounds, properties, etc)
only when the informations doesn't appears in the NCF thread.

I think the troubles encountering with my creatures are only the pictures, isn't it ? I think it is because their icons are in DDS and not TGA... No ?
EDIT : but something is strange : if it is the pictures, my wisps are also without it... why aren't they token in your list ?

Perhaps, but how the user can explain the power of spells from these NCF while are casting
if never none of explications is given about the extra expert mastery.

« Water_Elemental.xdb » is present in the mod "without modifications" and some non-ncf textname files are also present.
All of that is not a "problem", but the users must be informed.
If you give your-self the specifications for all these facts, I should remove Testcode.
Moreover, you can benefit of it to fix the 3rd Vampire editor name glitch.

Only for pictures, yes.
Pictures from complete folder can be DDS or TGA, that is not a problem. So all wisp icons are perfectly working.
Minor Walkirie uses plague wisp editor icon, other one has simply not icon.
Perhaps you have always include a editor icon then the editor link for the icon is not good.
This thread informs the presence of modifications and/or bugs, but do not say how to fix bugs.

Well, I update my Complete flder in adding all the icons of all the NCF I have, and there are a strange thing : your Zenithales aren't named ! Only CREATURE_XXX...
[[[EDIT : idem for your Lycanthrope... ]]]
There is also a problem with the icon of the Aquamancer in the editor...
Anyway, I repair my creatures bugs now. I hope I'll find a solution for the hillfort problems...

You're testing a too old version!
All of that are fixed in version 1.1 of Lycanthrope and Zenithales
These versions are the « more recent » and it's these versions which been tested.
ALSO: You are able to see CREATURE_407 (Aquamancer) in the NCF editor because your version of it has a AdvMapObjectLink ...but this NCF doesn't work anyway in the game.

EDIT
OK, Psatkha and TSoD, I checked your updates and modified the Master Post.
Now new bugs:
Psatkha, your new Chastener has not an animation on the adventure map because some files was renamed.
You must updated the MonsterShared file.
TSoD, your Minor Walkirie has not still a Editor icon, because the picture in its icon file in complete folder
is these of wisp.
Psatkha, Please Test this modification before updating your site, maybe it is not enough
TSoD, It is not necessary to put the other upgrade as upgrade of other upgrade.
For the two upgrades, let empty the upgrade tag:
<Upgrades/>
Check these picture to understand what happening when you put an upgrade to the upgrade:
(Dendroid setting upgrades are perfect)
Of course, that works anyway. but the upgrade is not the "second upgrade" of the base but rather a real
upgrade of the upgrade. The cost of upgrade is not the same and generally is free.

Thanks for your test work and the link to the awesometastic NCF bank site. I have re-downloaded all the creatures I want, reinstalled NCF, and will now attempt to get them working in the map editor. Wish me luck!

'Cause I followed the directions here exactly. Re-downloaded the NCF, added the exe files to the Heroes/bin folder, and the NCF_Core to the Heroes/data folder. I re-downloaded all the creatures I wanted from the site you linked here, one at a time, and extracted all the .pak files to the Heroes/data folder. After extracting everything, I moved everything inside the Complete folder to the Heroes/Complete folder. \
Finally, I ran the H5_MapEditor.NCF.exe... and I still cannot see ANY of the new creatures in the monster panel within the editor. Not a one. ;_;
