Map and Campaign Editor(s)
Hey, does anyone know anything about map and campaign editors in HOMM4? I loved the ones in 3, but it needed a few things. Any suggestions?

I started a thread like this a while back - but no one posted on it. Apparently, there aren't many mapmakers here. You must be kindred spirit, though!
I'm hoping that for the campaign editor, you can record your voice, like they do in the real ones, instead of just having the subtitles.
What really intrigues me about the Map Editor is the new "object customization pallette." I wonder, can you just customize adventure objects with this? Or can you also change Hero Portraits? Creatures? Etcetera?

I love making maps w/ the HOMM3 Map editor. And instead of _only_ being able to record your voice, you should be able to change it to sound like people from th game .

Yes! Yes! YESSSSSSSSS!
That way, if you're making a campaign about, to use my favorite Hero, Mutare, you can use her voice to speak! That's great! Of course, you should be able to do your own voice, too, in case there's a new Hero or something that you want to have speaking.

But how will it work? I mean how will you be able to record with the voice of a campaign hero.

I know there's a way to do things like that; in some Halloween masks that you buy, you can "morph" your voice to like an alien or something, Darth Vader, etc. They could just include something like this, but instead of Darth Vader's voice, Mutare's!

how about co-creating maps over the net. Several people can work on a single map at the same time.

That's nice each one can work in a different part of the map, to make the map a lot faster, but they can argue a lot because of the different opinions.

A good map only takes a day or two to make. Forget co-creating unless people are really cooperative.

I, being a mapmaker...
Wondered the same several months ago...
So I sent Maranthea an email.
Firstly, they will have the same map sizes as in Heroes 3:
Small, Medium, Large, X-Large
BUT, she said that the cell size is different. meaning XL could be much larger...
She also confirmed my wish of having adventure objects being able to face different ways... meaning that the star axis doesnt always face left, it can face right too... which is a godsend to all mapmakers, as it is very boring having everything face the same way. Oh yeah, that includes castles...
I got a couple of other minute facts from her, but mostly, I got the feeling that this was one of the things she didnt want to reveal much about till H4 is actually released . Sorry to dissapoint everyone.
Feel free to try to get any other info on it, but I feel you will find this a difficult task.

Customizations
1) The "story" of gaining an artifact - for maps who have a storyline it will be extremely useful - now you can invent something that suits the storyline, and, with the scripting system, there could even be several different stories.
2) Wandering creatures - customize whaich creature will it be for each town a player gets. Also uses the scripting system.
3) AI town - changes, depending on the town you choose. Also with the help of the scripting system.
These are something I thought of. They would fit in building a more complicated, yet, simple to play, HOMM world.

It takes from me months to make good XL maps. If you leave them empty and pooring you might pull a one in day.
But small maps (without story) take only day to create.

I agree. Put one of your maps up for download, CZ-14-3PO or whatever(sorry) and we'll see what its like!

I wish the editor going to be more complicated. It would be great to affect on that week/month of X thing and make different winning/loosing condition for every player. More complicated events would also be great. Like having more than 1 event on the same hex (different trigger of cource). Event triggers should be also more complicated (if tan's hero has visited another place two times with a specific artifact and today is 47th day, he would get...) And I'd like to add credits for the map (when you win)! I also like that idea making wandering stack to behave different with different players (those complicated trigger here too ).
