10 mins of Rock Smashing in Glittering Cave, and I have all Fossil Pokemon you can get legally... A bit of trading and luck and I also got the X exclusives (Anorith and Lileep), so my collection is complete.
The cave is overflowing with Fossils to revieve (post-game). Fossil Pokemon in all generations were never that easy to get, so if you guys didn't know yet, go there, salvage unlimited Fossils and profit...

I'd been holding out hope they'd fix it this Gen. Maybe use a voting system--enough people vote the trade down and it gets removed from the GTS, and you only get X down-votes per month so you don't have trolls voting down EVERYONE. Get enough trade removals in a certain period of time and you can't trade for X amount of time. But no. :yuk: Maybe they'll catch on for Gen VII?

Interesting. Some guy has uncovered what seems to be three special-event legendary Pokemon. You can check their "snapshots" on Serebii, though they're not officially confirmed... I'm writing about this because I was wondering why some guys in GTS have "Hoopa" (one of the alleged legendaries names)" written in their "looking for" window.
BTW, only one of them has caught my attention, the rest are meh...
By the look of things I suppose the theme here could be "Rock" (or Steel as we had Rock legendaries already), so we would have Rock/Fairy, Rock/Fire and Rock/Psychic (or Ghost). But those are only my assumptions

But by opening up the possibility of people getting temp banned, then someone will eventually by mistake be temp banned, therefore I don't think it's the best solution. Not everyone is out there to troll, houndour/hounduor looks epic cool, and if I were new to the game, and it was the first time I caught one, I'd think it'd be worthwhile to see what I could get for it.
Wouldn't it simply be possible to list:
A) pokemon's you're interested in
B) pokemon's you've for trade
For every pokemon which is on your trade list, have a sublist of pokemon's you're willing to accept for this particular pokemon (which would be a sublist of pokemon's you're interested in).
Only show trades which qualify for the conditions you've presented on your list. It doesn't even have to be limited to pokemon's of interest, but can also include abilities, levels, moves, types, you name it.
If no one is interested in the "troll" trades, no one will get to see them, and no one gets annoyed.

@Ohforf: That's why it'd be a TEMP ban (say ~1-3 months), and you'd need to get downvoted multiple times. If after five times you offer Houndour level 2 for Kyogre level 100, and the trade is removed, and you still haven't figured out to stop doing it, then odds are you're doing it on purpose and should be taken out of the trade pool.

I caught the temp bit, but I believe my point still stands. I mean why bother banning people if you can make them invisible? That way no one has to become a victim / annoyed and you won't mistakenly have someone banned.
Just to compare, for the down-voting system:
Trader would still get "troll" offers, but will have a way to deal with them. While I think there'll always be people who'll spew these offers, new ones joining the community all the time, etc. at least there won't be as many.
"troll" would still get annoy the trader until temp banned, but that's only one person, and it runs the risk of temp banning someone who doesn't deserve it. By adding a lot of requirements, like a lot of down votes, it means less mistakes will happen, but with a big enough community and enough time, it'll just be a question of time, in my opinion.
For the requirement lists:
Trader risks missing a good trade, and it can be cumbersome to make set up trades on purpose such as level 1 caterpie for level 100 mewtwo, because is runs the risk of allowing for others to bit as well (though I guess one could also add *friends in the trades, who'd be people who could offer whatever, if one wants). Also it further complicates a system which I believe is otherwise nice and easy to digest, risking reducing the community by adding too many complications.
On the other hand, it doesn't matter if someone is a troll or just made a mistake, no one will be annoyed by this person, and this person does not have to be punished.
As such I think there's ups and downs to any solution, in my opinion people's well being should come first, and that's why I'm very much against a system of punishment if it can be avoided.
Edit: Sure hope I didn't terminate this thread.. here's something fun to consider then. Rollout is the move with the potential greatest damage in the game. It's base 30 -> 60 after defense curl + 50% rock -> 90 power. For each successful hit the power doubles, there's 5 hits, but the first hit is the zero'th hit, hence the damage is 2^(N-1)*90, where N is the amount of time rollout hits (maximum 5).
Since 2 + 4 + 8 + ... 2^N = 2^(N + 1) - 2, it follows the sum of all those hits are proportional to 2^N.
Hence the damage output before calculating att/def becomes 2^5 * 90 = 32 * 90 = 2880
Considering explosion is basically 250 * 2 = 500, it tells something about the huge power that lies behind rollout.
Yet it's next to worthless in the game, because even if you manage to set up defense curl on a rock pokemon with rollout, any pokemon with protect / detect is a counter, because then you can only hit with a 90 power rock attack, but the 180 power will never hit. 90 power is an okay attack, but it's next to nothing compared to... say fifth turn 1500 or whatever.
And protect / detect isn't the only weaknesses, so rollout is a funny move that way.

The problem I initially had with Wonder Trade is that it when I first tried it I traded a half-decent Pokemon for a low-level Pokemon. After a few weeks I tried doing it again, and have come to realise that the whole wonder trade thing is a lottery. Occasionally I'd get a Pokemon I have yet to encounter on can only be accessed via trade.
I traded a level 50 Pangoro for a level 59 Pokemon I didn't previously have, and they agreed because I assume he didn't have a Pangoro himself.

Well, WT is a lottery but I managed to get some interesting Pokemon with it. I've got a Lileep, which is and X exclusive fossil, or a level 50 Gourgeist, which is a trade only evolution. Plus a Squirtle if I recall. Those are quite easy to get via Global Trade or even simple trading, but it saved me the trouble of looking for them.
What I really hate is that you cannot change names of traded Pokemon. If I get a Pokemon from a Japanese person I get some bushes instead of a normal name. And I don't like that . The only way to have such a Pokemon with the name I like is to breed one from the one I traded, and give him my own name. Though it's problematic when you get Pokemon like trade-only-evolving Gourgeist which you can't get with breeding and leveling up...

Unless of course you visit the nickname rater in Camphrier Town (inside the Pokemon Centre).

From what I know you cannot do that with traded Pokemon names. There is one way to change a Japanese name, though only with a few Pokemon: trade one which evolves via trading and has a non-custom (vanilla) name. It's name will change from bushes into a standard (but English) evolved PKMN name
BTW did anyone catch a a legendary bird? I've read that you need to encounter it 11 times (it runs away each time) and then find it in Azure Cave. But what I don't know is if you need to encounter it 11 times in a row (without restarting the game) or 11 times overall?
