Extract sounds from Homm3
I don't know if it is the right place to post that kind of topic, but it seems no one was talking about it before.
I'am currently developing a game for school and I'm looking for sounds which could fit in. Heroes 3 is of course one of the best choices.
Does anyone ever tried to extract sounds from it ?
PS : this game won't be released, I won't get money from it. I assume that taking sounds from other games for myself is allowed.

There's no extraction needed. The sounds are in several folders in your HoMM3 folder(or was it the songs... Hmmm... Can't remember)
____________
"Kip is the Gavin McInnes of HC" - Salamandre
"Ashan to the Trashcan", "I got PTSD from H7. " - LizardWarrior

Sure, I know how to do it inside out. All you need is Resedit 2 and a player that's compatible with .wavs (I like foobar2000, but WMP works fine).
Use Resedit to open the file Heroes3.snd in your data directory (it actually works as a .lod file). It contains most of the game's audio, and extracting it should be self-explanatory.
Voice files and narration (including cutscenes) are all on the disc, however.
@Kipshasz it was just the music.

@Cepheus: my mistake. Thought that sounds were also stored there.

Well, these sounds are rendreding our project way more fun. Which means a way better review from our school and the key to the last year of studies. And with good projects, more opportunities to find a job.
You saved it, yep

Used some HOMM III sounds and music myself for a school project and it went very well.
Rob King had much success with the HOMM III score and effects. Everything just fits perfectly into place and makes the game experience (not to mention your grade) that more wonderful.
